Chapter Index

Feng Shihua’s statement was short, just eleven words, but each word seemed highlighted.

Our home, your home, these are two homes.

Our home is easy to understand, just uncle and aunt’s place, but whose home is this your home?

Jiang Qin knew clearly that the “your home” referred to the villa in Xiangti, known as the good friend’s house next to the international kindergarten.

But Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini had too little information, so even with a keyword, it was hard for them to guess, feeling overwhelmed by the details.

Feng Nanshu was not sensitive to such cryptic messages and naively felt it had nothing to do with her.

Fortunately, Feng Shihua was called away to the kitchen by Qin Jingqiu before he said too much.

    “Honey, come here a moment.”

    “What’s up?”

“Help me find the oven manual, I don’t really know how to use it.”

“You’ve never used it since we bought it, why bring it up now?”

“Nanshu just secretly told me she wants to eat baked sweet potatoes.”

Initially calm and docile on the sofa, Feng Nanshu’s face crumpled upon hearing this, thinking her aunt was naughty for shouting out what she had whispered.

After a while, a simple breakfast prepared by Qin Jingqiu was ready—stomach-friendly millet porridge, fried eggs, a few stalks of blanched greens, and a portion of steamed Jinhua ham.

Although Feng Nanshu visited Qin Jingqiu every year, eating together was rare, so Qin still wanted to prepare breakfast for her.

    “How is it, tasty?”

“Delicious, my tongue is melting, it hasn’t even been a week and your skills have improved, especially these greens, so good.”

Qin Jingqiu was taken aback: “Mrs. Wu made these greens.”

Jiang Qin paused with his chopsticks before swiftly changing the subject: “Yes, the greens are delicious, but not as good as the soy pig’s feet I had last time.”

“I didn’t cook that meal last time.”

    “……”

Jiang Qin thought to himself that she’s really funny, then lowered his head to continue eating.

Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini exchanged a look, sure enough, Jiang Qin had dined here more than once.

People usually date first then get their families involved, you did it the other way around, huh?

“Honey, how’s the furnishing at the Xiangti place coming along?”

“Almost done, it looks quite nice with the furniture, though a bit plain, but that’s okay, we can redecorate when we move in.”

After answering his wife’s question, Feng Shihua turned to Jiang Qin: “Let’s go check it out together later.”

    “Ah… okay.”

As Jiang Qin ate his porridge, he wondered why he ever agreed to keep a villa. The little rich girl was easy to fool, convinced it was a friend’s house.

But what was terrifying today was that there were two experts in trickery present, whose skills in discerning truth from lies were boundless.

If they found out about the friend’s house, they’d go nuts.

He could already imagine Gao Wenhui swearing in the villa, and sighed in secret, regretting bringing them along today.

Should have left them at the hotel, then the little rich girl would’ve been at his mercy.

    Damn, what to do now?

How to convince them it’s just a friend’s house?

After breakfast, the sweet potatoes were ready. Qin Jingqiu packed them for Feng Nanshu to take, and they set off for the Xiangti villa.

The weather was still nice, sunny and bright.

In front of Building A105, three big trucks were parked, and several workers in blue were orderly moving furniture into the villa.

Seeing this, Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini’s minds buzzed as if struck by insight, instantly understanding what “your home” meant.

To analyze, this word refers to Jiang Qin because the uncle just said it to him.

So, the villa being furnished is actually Jiang Qin’s.

But why the plural? That indicates the house doesn’t belong to just one person!

Gao Wenhui wasn’t clear on Shanghai’s customs, but in some northern areas, it’s common for the man to buy the house and the woman to take care of the furnishings as a pre-marriage tradition; uncle and aunt really know their stuff!

“As you know, these past two years… uh, property prices have skyrocketed, buying a house is a good investment.”

“Especially in Shanghai, being the most economically developed first-tier city.”

“And I’m in business, sometimes real estate is like a chunk of capital, it can be mortgaged to the bank in times of crisis.”

“When I passed by the other day, I heard aunt had some channels, so I kept a set, just a house, nothing more, you understand?”

Jiang Qin spoke nonstop from the door to the yard.

    “Damn, a wedding house!”

Gao Wenhui did not disappoint Jiang Qin’s expectations, totally tuning him out and with a shout, charged into the living room, feeling her pancreas heat up.

The path for hardcore fans is not easy.

    Why?

Because when they ship a couple, they put their all into it. If their shipped couple doesn’t end up together, they actually feel more heartbroken than the involved parties.

But given the current situation, it’s a sure thing!

Both families are aware, a wedding house is ready, even Jesus couldn’t stop this.

Jiang Qin fell silent for a long moment, then turned to Wang Haini: “Little Gao is clueless, doesn’t understand anything, Haini, you’ve been through a lot, you should understand what real estate means, right?”

“I get it, a wedding house.”

    “?????”

After Wang Haini spoke, she too started making noises and rushed into the living room.

At this moment, Feng Nanshu came belatedly, puzzled at her roommates suddenly acting crazy.

She was still thinking about her baked sweet potato which she peeled next to the trash can, not realizing that what was before her eyes was even more significant than the sweet potato she had been craving.

“Feng Nanshu, this is the villa Jiang Qin bought.”

“Ah? Then I must come play too.” Feng Nanshu decided instantly.

Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini exchanged a glance, thinking she’s still clueless; come play? You’re meant to be the mistress of the house!

Jiang Qin buys the house, your uncle and aunt furnish it, everyone knows what this house signifies, except you who still thinks you’re a guest!

“Feng Nanshu, this is your home, you’ll be the mistress here.”

Feng Nanshu glanced at Gao Wenhui, then shook her head: “No, my home is in Jinshan Street, Hongrong Homes, Building 7, Unit 1, Apartment 502 in Jizhou.”

Gao Wenhui was puzzled: “What place is that?”

Wang Haini was quick to respond: “Jizhou is where Jiang Qin’s parents are from, it’s different though, no matter how nice the in-laws’ place is, it’s still the in-laws’, but here, it belongs to just the two of you. By your logic, this is your exclusive friend’s house.”

    Feng Nanshu: “?”

The three were now in the kitchen, Gao Wenhui pointed at the gas stove to show her, which had three words on it – Good Wife.

    “……”

Feng Nanshu pondered for a moment then dashed out of the kitchen to find Jiang Qin and ask if this was really just a friend’s house, which can only be confirmed by a friend.

Jiang Qin was silent for a moment: “Do you remember a question you once asked me?”

    “Can friends kiss?”

“Not that, why do you keep thinking about kissing? I mean, when we just started university, you asked if friends can live together forever.”

Feng Nanshu nodded: “You said no, but you mentioned friends can live across from each other.”

Jiang Qin nodded seriously: “Actually, I lied. Good friends can live together. Only you know this secret. This house is specifically for sheltering good friends where we can happily play games.”

“Brother, how many good friends do you have?”

“I… have only you as a good friend.”

Feng Nanshu blinked in confusion then her pretty eyes gradually brightened, finally shining like stars: “But I still prefer Hongrong Homes. We should often go back home to visit.”

Out of nowhere, Wang Haini chimed in: “Find some time, take a break, and bring the kids to visit home often.”

    “?”

Jiang Qin looked at Wang Haini in disbelief, thinking, how are these love-experienced ‘ship-watchers’ scarier than Gao Wenhui who’s never dated?

What kids? How could good friends have kids?

Right then, Gao Wenhui came downstairs curiously pointing outside: “I see there’s a small building on the left. What’s that for?”

    “The nanny’s room.”

    “Damn, my ship-watching station?!”

Gao Wenhui got excited again, grabbed Wang Haini, and they both ran out into the small building across the street.

Meanwhile, Qin Jingqiu stood in the courtyard feeling somewhat sentimental, involuntarily leaning on Feng Shihua.

“Actually, in my memories, Nanshu is still the seven-year-old from back then. She was so tiny, and now in the blink of an eye, she’s over twenty, has someone she likes, life really feels like a fleeting dream.”

“But, if Nanshu wants to get married, she still needs big brother’s consent. Who knows what troubles that might stir up.”
