Chapter Index

The night deepens. Jiang Qin heads back from the girls’ dorm at the School of Finance, wielding a ‘Barrier Fairy’ confiscated from a good friend. He glances at it under a streetlight.

    It’s the largest size.

Heh, little rich girl really knows her stuff…

She’s stepped on it, handled it, even got pinched by it. No wonder she chose so accurately.

Jiang, the boss, slips the ‘Barrier Fairy’ into his pocket, his eyes deepening as he looks out the window with a confident smile.

Ren Ziqiang, carrying a basin, just back from the restroom, sees Jiang Qin silently by the corridor window and can’t resist slapping him on the back.

“Jiang bro, why aren’t you in your dorm? Just standing here spacing out?”

“I’m just feeling the deep malice this world has toward pretty boys.”

Ren Ziqiang pauses and looks out the window for a bit, “Really? I don’t feel it.”

Jiang Qin gives him a cold glance: “Are you handsome? Want to feel it with your ordinary looks?”

    “?”

    “Stop bothering me. Scram.”

Ren Ziqiang heads back with his basin, muttering, “Jiang bro says that from our door’s window, you can feel the world’s malice toward pretty boys.”

Hearing this, Cao Guangyu immediately steps out, and after a moment, returns: “Yeah, it’s true.”

The next afternoon, Qin Jingqiu arrives from the hotel to Linchuan University, taking away the visibly reluctant little rich girl.

Jiang Qin stands at the crossroads, watching until Uncle Gong’s car disappears into the pedestrian street, then turns away only to receive a call from Zhang Boqing asking where he is.

Boss Jiang says he’s in front of the student supermarket, then feels surprised after hanging up.

Dean Zhang’s phone is working well. The past few days it’d shown only green little robots, and now it makes calls. Wonder whose expertise fixed it.

“Stay there; I’m bringing some people over.”

    “Damn, Dean, you’re bringing people?”

“What are you talking about? Kyoto’s top three famous universities have formed a study group to visit and learn.”

Ever since the group-buy became a national enterprise, teachers from other schools often visit Linchuan University, personally hosted by Dean Zhang.

With the new entrepreneurship base under construction, it’s also a project worth discussing.

A group walks to the intersection near the School of Finance girls’ dorm, and Dean Zhang immediately spots Jiang Qin, gathering everyone around him.

Chu Siqi from the press follows, apparently brought along to handle publicity.

Behind her are Wang Huiru and Si Huiying. The four nod to each other, acknowledging their acquaintance.

“Director Liang, Director Chen, let me introduce Jiang Qin from our school.”

“This is the group-buy’s President Jiang?”

    “Yes, him.”

Dean Zhang, smiling broadly, turns to Jiang Qin: “Why the long face?”

Jiang Qin pinches the bridge of his nose: “A good friend was borrowed away. Can’t be happy about it.”

“It was you who broke my phone, right?”

“What phone? I don’t know. I don’t understand these things.” Jiang Qin looks clueless.

“Quit joking, hurry up and boast. If you do, I won’t chase you about the phone!”

Jiang Qin lowers his voice: “What’s there to boast about? My achievements are all thanks to your guidance.”

Dean Zhang’s eyes widen: “Why didn’t you say that louder just now?”

    “Keeping it low-key here.”

“No low-key today. Big it up big time. It’s people from Kyoto. The school raised you for days, now’s the time to use you.”

Dean Zhang turns to the directors: “Come, let Director Liang, Director Chen find a spot. Let Jiang Qin tell everyone about his entrepreneurial experience.”

“Actually, I don’t have much ability. Just a blind cat finding a dead rat. Group-buy, Zhihu, Tonight’s Headlines, none of these are that notable. What I’m most proud of is being Linchuan University’s Study Star. The highest achievement was getting personal guidance from Dean Zhang.”

After hearing this, Dean Zhang inhales deeply, exclaiming, “That’s the spirit!”

On bragging, Dean Zhang thinks Jiang Qin could be the dean!

Then, Dean Zhang leads everyone to visit entrepreneurship base Room 208, feeling like a tour guide showing around a historic house.

But before entering, Dean Zhang pulls Jiang Qin aside, insisting he give an exclusive interview for the school.

Since the group-buy went national, the school’s info on Jiang Qin hadn’t been updated. Reporters from the education press had been seeking interviews, but he was always too busy. This time, Dean Zhang insists he stay for an interview.

Thus, Jiang Qin heads with Chu Siqi, Wang Huiru, and Si Huiying to the neighboring Room 207.

Once inside, the sofa, TV, and fridge leave Wang Huiru and Si Huiying staring in awe.

Chu Siqi notices two pairs of ladies’ leather boots in the corner, one pair slightly heeled, beside a shoe cabinet loaded with various nail polishes, bow ties, necklaces, and a small mirror.

Fortunately, there’s no bed here, easing Chu Siqi’s mind somewhat.

The interview then starts. Senior student Chu Siqi has matured a lot, managing not to let personal emotions sway her, methodically going through the questions.

Wang Huiru and Si Huiying sit by, looking nervously on.

“We’re all old friends here. No need to be so tense. Want some water?”

    “Err, no thanks.”

Wang Huiru relaxes a bit: “Jiang Qin, that commercial you were in was so cool.”

Si Huiying nods: “First time seeing someone I know in an ad. Quite surreal.”

“Just casually showing half my charm.”

“Really funny, still the old vibe. Seems money doesn’t change your personality.”

Jiang Qin is taken aback, thinking, I was serious, how did it turn funny?

Wang Huiru looks around and asks, “Do you live here usually?”

“No, I reside in the dorm. Only after the group-buy moved, this place was emptied, so I just set it up as a lounge.”

    “Oh.”

Chu Siqi purses her lips: “Does Feng Nanshu come here too? I see lots of girls’ shoes over there.”

“Yes, she likes coming over to watch TV.”

Jiang Qin glances back at the little rich girl’s shoes, nodding slightly.

As he turns, a box he pocketed last night accidentally falls out.

The three girls notice. The box says, largest size, barely-there.

Seeing this, Chu Siqi bites her lip, surprised he carries them around, and the largest, too. Impressive…

At that moment, Dean Zhang’s voice calls from outside, asking Jiang Qin to come out and tell the study group from Kyoto about this office’s story.

As he leaves, Wang Huiru blurts out: “Jiang Qin and Feng Nanshu must be close, right? Although there’s no bed here, it still feels like home.”

“With Jiang Qin’s size, how could they not be close?” Si Huiying can’t help but comment.

    “?”

They’re all seniors now, even if they haven’t done it, they know the drill. They understand the importance of “size.”

Wang Huiru blushes deeply, perhaps thinking of something.

Just then, Chu Siqi suddenly picks up the box of ‘Barrier Fairy,’ tears one open, takes it out, and flings it along with the whole box under the sofa.

She then removes her own shoes, peels off her right sock, and throws it in as well, then slips her shoes back on barefoot.

Wang Huiru’s face changes: “Siqi, what are you doing?”

    “I can’t stand it.”

“But you can’t do this, what will Feng Nanshu think?”

Chu Siqi purses her lips: “Huiru, I really like Jiang Qin.”

Wang Huiru falls silent while Si Huiying can’t resist speaking: “Even if Feng Nanshu wasn’t in the picture, would he start liking you again?”

“He liked me once, he can like me again. But I… can’t compete with Feng Nanshu. I can only wait for them to break up. But you said their relationship is solid, so when will they split?”

Hearing this, Wang Huiru and Si Huiying fall silent.

They never imagined that the kind of plot seen in TV dramas would unfold before their eyes.

Just then, the door to Room 207 opens and Jiang Qin walks in: “The study group is heading to Xitian. Dean Zhang asked me to notify you.”

    “Oh, okay…”

Wang Huiru and Si Huiying can’t betray their friend. They head out, heads down.

Jiang Qin coughs: “I dropped something earlier. Did you see it?”

    “No… no, we didn’t.”

Chu Siqi is extremely nervous as she leaves, barely daring to look at Jiang Qin, even accidentally kicking a trash bin.

Jiang Qin squints as they leave, then walks to the couch, smoothing out a pillow, searching beneath it, then solemnly picking up a long, green hair.

He then sits where Chu Siqi had been, staring for a long while as if seeing something.

Then he frowns and looks under the couch, his gaze freezing.

“Really, did mom think I watched all those TV dramas for nothing? Did she think I got this far in business by luck?”

“Damn, is the world’s malice toward pretty boys that great?”

Jiang Qin retrieves the items beneath, exhaling deeply.

How would he explain this if the little rich girl saw?

Should he claim to have been framed? It’s obvious it was just opened and tossed aside, never used.

The little rich girl wouldn’t believe him since she’s never seen one used.

Now he’d have to show her what a used one looks like… to prove his innocence.

Thinking this, Jiang Qin snaps, tossing the item back under the sofa then picking it up again, mumbling to himself, “Forget it, forget it.”

“Feng Nanshu, if you don’t come back soon, your best friend might just get stolen away.”

At that moment, the pretty boy who had just parted from a friend sighed deeply.
