Chapter Index

After spring arrived, temperatures rose quickly, shifting from cotton jackets to coats, then to hoodies, each layer thinner than the last.

During this period, the school’s cats and dogs struggled, constantly creating dramatic scenes.

For instance, the most handsome tabby cat appeared on the path behind the maple forest, changing his female companion three times in as many days, making countless single dogs green with envy.

Jiang Qin’s “good friends” activities with Feng Nanshu, which include their nightly kiss, started to consume more laundry detergent.

Mainly because the little rich girl liked to snuggle against him and was always mischievously rubbing against him.

Every time Jiang Qin “reluctantly” spanked her, she would seriously admit her mistake with a serious face, yet she dared to do it again, remaining cheeky as ever.

So, what will happen to this friendship by the peak of summer?

Jiang Qin hugged Feng Nanshu, adjusted her position by squeezing her small bottom slightly, then watched as she suddenly felt elevated, leaving her breathless from his kisses.

“If you keep this up, I won’t kiss you anymore.”

“You said the same thing last time.”

Feng Nanshu, with her eyes half-closed, snuggled in his arms and softly responded, her feet swinging carelessly, clearly not worried.

She knew the big teddy bear couldn’t resist kissing her.

And whenever he got angry, it was just for show. Whenever she called him “brother,” he couldn’t even pretend to be stern.

Previously afraid to be mischievous as it might lead to dislike, she knew no matter how naughty she was, Jiang Qin would always pamper her.

However, as Feng Nanshu locked the balcony ever more frequently, their roommates who couldn’t stand the suspense started catching on and began closely monitoring her every evening.

Being a senior with few classes left, the candy-loving Feng Nanshu had more time for part-time work at the tea shop and writing novels online.

    Then, she started thinking.

“Why is the balcony locked every night? I recall it was locked before but not as frequently.”

“I guess behind every locked balcony, there is a little tiger irresistibly drooling…”

Wang Haini, with much experience and knowledge, felt something fishy, stepping into the shoes of Feng Nanshu, imagining President Jiang.

Feeling suddenly flushed, she drew a bold conclusion.

    “Which little tiger?”

    “That little tiger.”

Wang Haini reached out, pointing at a row of white cotton girl-style little tigers on the clothesline of the balcony.

Gao Wenhui was stunned for a long time before realizing, incredulously exclaiming, “Is that still called friendship? I mean, this is more thrilling than an affair!”

“If President Jiang says it’s friendship, then it’s friendship. After all, he’s the most stubborn.”

    “Friendship 3.0, huh?”

“More like 2.0, but perhaps Nanshu is just too sensitive. It’s related to her physique.”

While they were speaking, Feng Nanshu finished freshening up, hung up the little tiger, and sneaked out of the balcony as if nothing happened.

She wore a grey silk pajama that draped well because of the soft material emphasizing her exquisitely curvy figure.

Yet, because her legs were so long, a rarity among girls, her pajama pants couldn’t reach fully down, slightly exposing her fair ankles.

Candy-loving Huihui and Queen Haini leaned on the table, eyes narrowed, following her every step.

Cold goddess, beauty elder sister, top-class rich beauty — many labels applied to Feng Nanshu at Linchuan University appeared in their minds before shattering, leaving only “sensitive fool.”

Already feeling guilty, Feng Nanshu, halfway through her walk, caught her roommates staring at her and suddenly froze, her face stiffening.

“Why are you looking at me…”

“Because you’re pretty to look at.”

The little rich girl thought for a moment, then naively said, “I went shopping with Jiang Qin last night. We didn’t kiss.”

Wang Haini tactically leaned back, “Did you stroll through ‘Water Street’?”

Gao Wenhui paused, “What’s ‘Water Street’?”

Feng Nanshu was about to dock Wang Haini’s wages before she remembered she wasn’t her employee at Xitian, then turned to Gao Wenhui, “Wenhui, there goes your bonus.”

“Eh, how is it related to me? I didn’t understand the latter half, Feng Nanshu, you’re learning to become worse from your husband. My survival depends on that bonus!”

    “Then you should stop asking.”

Feng Nanshu spoke with earnest, then her phone suddenly rang.

She picked it up from the desk and saw it was her aunt calling.

Lately, her aunt frequently called to ask if she had eaten or was happy, but Feng Nanshu always held back her feelings, perhaps afraid that showing dependency would lead to abandonment.

But Qin Jingqiu soon realized, by mentioning Jiang Qin, she could keep her niece talking endlessly.

So, using the pretense of caring for Jiang Qin, her aunt often called Feng Nanshu, and their relationship gradually improved.

This call was no exception, with Qin Jingqiu’s opening line asking about Jiang Qin.

    “Has he been busy lately?”

“A bit busy, but we still see each other every day.”

“Then you should persuade him not to work too hard, to take care of his health. Money is endless.”

Feng Nanshu nodded lightly, “You should take care too, aunt.”

Qin Jingqiu felt a warm sensation in her heart, “I might relax a lot in the future, but I don’t know when I’ll get to babysit a grandchild.”

Feng Nanshu squinted her eyes, thinking best friends can’t have babies together.

But if “brother” says it’s possible, maybe it is.

After hanging up, Qin Jingqiu picked up her teacup, took a sip, and looked at the neighboring yard.

Just this morning, Duan Ying returned from abroad with her son, spending the morning throwing out old furniture, exchanging everything for new, even replacing the big gate of the yard.

She returned before Feng Shihua, possibly as a precursor.

This indicated that her elder brother and his family would soon return.

Since after the Spring Festival, Qin Jingqiu had been preparing for their return. During this period, she managed to split the assets of Qin Real Estate and Feng Shi Real Estate while quickly liquidating her investments through Hurricane Investment.

To ensure her years of effort wouldn’t be in vain.

Among the Feng family, aside from Feng Shihua, who enjoyed his scholarly pursuits, the others harbored great ambitions, hence their prolonged stay abroad.

If not carefully divided, Qin Real Estate and those various investments could all be lost.

Although Feng Shihua and Feng Shihua had a good relationship, it wasn’t exactly a rivalry.

However, Feng Shihua had no interest in business, and as an outsider without children, Qin Jingqiu certainly had no right to continue managing these two companies in their eyes.

Fortunately, two years ago, due to Feng Nanshu’s relationship troubles when she approached Jiang Qin, Qin Jingqiu took the opportunity to invest in Wanzhong Group, becoming its third largest shareholder.

In recent years, both companies collaborated to develop mixed-use properties, so even if Qin Real Estate were separated from Feng Shi Real Estate, it would not be greatly hindered, potentially even lightening its load.

Only the portion she invested through Hurricane Investment was truly regrettable.

    But that was unavoidable.

Meanwhile, Qin Jingqiu was unclear about one thing: Feng Shihua and Duan Ying never seemed to mention Jiang Qin.

Uncle Gong had once said the elder brother knew of Jiang Qin’s existence, but from the current situation, he didn’t seem to know much or perhaps didn’t care.

    Indeed, Qin Jingqiu was correct.

Feng Nanshu’s life in China had always been managed by Duan Ying, and Feng Shihua’s understanding of his daughter mainly came from reports by Duan Ying’s secretary.

When Jiang Qin and Feng Nanshu met, there was a severe financial crisis abroad.

Investments by the Feng family abroad were failing, leaving Feng Shihua with little time to consider anything else.

Additionally, at that time, their children were just born, diverting his attention even further from his daughter.

Duan Ying told Feng Shihua that Nanshu’s mental state was improving and she had made a new friend; the two often read together in the library.

Feng Shihua was pleased to hear this; at least his daughter had made a friend, showing that sending her back to Jizhou for recovery was effective.

And sending her back was Duan Ying’s idea, so naturally, he was grateful to her.

Duan Ying, however, didn’t care about Feng Nanshu at all.

She had already given birth to a son for Feng Shihua. With her position secured through her child, she no longer needed to use Feng Nanshu to garner favor.

Thus, Feng Nanshu’s freedom after graduating high school was somewhat thanks to Duan Ying having a child.

Yet, what neither knew was that in picking up Jiang Qin, Nanshu hadn’t just made a friend; she had found a gold mine who doted on her immensely.

As evening approached and Feng Shihua returned to the villa from rehearsals at the theater, he asked, “Jingqiu, did sister-in-law come back?”

“Sister-in-law didn’t come back, but a vixen did.”

    “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Qin Jingqiu glanced at him, “When ill-intent comes, should I broadcast it?”

Feng Shihua sighed, “Still, they’re family.”

“You and they are family. I’m not. Nanshu, Jiang Qin, and I — we are the family.”

“Hey, you can’t leave me out!”

Standing, Qin Jingqiu pulled out a stack of documents from her bag, “Sign these, and I’ll allow you to be part of our family.”

Feng Shihua took the documents, his expression changing slightly, “Are you breaking ties with them?”

“Qin Real Estate was built by me, and the investments mentioned were funded by it. I’m only taking what’s rightfully mine.”

    “Jingqiu, reconsider this.”

Qin Jingqiu held his hand, “There’s no room for consideration. You don’t want all these assets to end up with Duan Ying’s son, do you? Frankly, I have no blood relation with that boy, but Nanshu is different. I raised her; she’s my daughter.”

Feng Shihua remained silent for a while, then under his wife’s determined gaze, gently held the pen.
