Chapter Index

The graduation ceremony ends marking the closure of four years of college life. For those still job hunting, this summer might be their last leisurely break.

Some choose to stay and tour Linchuan with their parents while others eagerly head home.

Youth is like a banquet, from a dignified start to raucous merrymaking, ending in disarray before everything is cleaned up and calms down.

Jiang Qin drank a lot and passed out in a fuzz, waking up in the evening.

By the room’s arrangement it seems to be a suite in Longkai Hotel with the little rich girl lying in his arms, her cotton-socked feet peeking out of the covers, sleeping sweetly.

She seems to be having a pleasant dream given her content sleep expression.

    “?”

Jiang Qin shakes his head slightly clearing it then hears voices chatting in the suite’s living room.

Sensing Jiang Qin move, the little rich girl calls out ‘Brother’ in her sleep and snuggles closer, not waking up.

Shoot, did I get taken advantage of because I was drunk!

Jiang Qin’s expression changes as he feels around, then changes again.

Shoot, shoot, seems I wasn’t fooled.

Fill with worry, Jiang Qin realizes his mouth feels dry and bitter so he slips out to the living room where he finds his mom and aunt chatting.

“Mom, how did I end up this drunk?”

“Because Little Nanshu kept pouring you drinks.”

Jiang Qin shakes his head, remembering Feng Nanshu eagerly serving him and narrows his eyes—she definitely had plans for him.

“By the way, where are dad and uncle?” Jiang Qin goes to the bathroom, tears open a pack and brushes his teeth.

“Your dad and your uncle are downstairs having tea.”

“Did the little rich girl get drunk too?”

Qin Jingqiu chuckles softly, “No, she’s just genuinely sleepy.”

At this moment, Feng Nanshu also wakes up and sits up rubbing her eyes, seemingly a bit confused from sleep.

She planned to play the prankster today, but too many people were around. With mom and aunt always in the room watching TV and dad and uncle occasionally coming up, she had no chance, so she just sat obediently on the bed watching Jiang Qin sleep.

However, she wasn’t all that innocent, often pinching his face and sneakily using his spare phone. She’d even boldly whisper in his ear, “You’d dare spank me.”

Somehow, she ended up asleep in Jiang Qin’s arms.

Recollecting the night, Feng Nanshu fumbles under the pillow and finally finds her phone.

In a small chat group just for her, Gao Wenhui, and Wang Haini, the phrase “Did he swoon?” had blown up the screen with Wang Haini breaking the thread with “Take a photo to see, if caught I’ll cover for you, will say I swooned.”

The little rich girl pauses, then puts down her phone, slips on her slippers and sleepily leans against the living room door frame.

Jiang Qin, just done with freshening up, spots the small head at the door.

“Feng Nanshu, how could you keep giving me drinks?”

    “I didn’t…”

“Where are Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini?”

Feng Nanshu pouts, “Wenhui’s mom took her to her aunt’s place, Haini and her mom are catching a train.”

Yuan Youqin hands the little rich girl a glass of water, “Nanshu, drink some water.”

    “Thank you, mom.”

“She calls you mom smoother than I do…”

Jiang Qin yawns, fumbles in his pocket only to find he’s already changed into the hotel’s pajamas.

Qin Jingqiu hands him a glass of water, “I and your uncle have to head back to Shanghai tonight, Qin Real Estate needs our attention.”

“I’ll have someone see you off.”

“No need, your Principal Zhang has arranged a car for us.”

Qin Jingqiu looks towards Feng Nanshu, “Nanshu, want to come back with us?”

After hearing this, Feng Nanshu shakes her head, speaking a bit seriously, “Aunt, I still have things to do.”

“Not sure if it’s real or fake busy, but it’s hard to keep a grown girl at home.”

After a simple dinner, the uncle and aunt start their journey back. Yuan Youqin, Jiang Zhenghong, and Feng Nanshu head to the airport to see them off.

Currently, Wanzhong Group’s subsidiary, Wanshanghui, is planning construction. Qin Real Estate is also developing residential buildings and offices around Wanshanghui. At this stage, both companies are operating at full capacity.

Jiang Qin didn’t go to the airport but returned to the hotel, pulled out his phone from his clothes, and found a pile of missed calls.

Two from Tan Qing, one from Lu Zhichuan, six from Zhang Boiqing, fifteen from Cao Guangyu, three each from Zhou Chao and Ren Ziqiang, three from Gao Wenhui, and five from Wang Haini.

Tan Qing’s calls were mainly about reporting on the food delivery market.

Over the past few days, Group-Buy Delivery expanded into seven more cities, now splitting the market evenly with Hungry Yet?.

It’s hard for a person to admit failure, especially for Zhang Xuhao, the founder of Hungry Yet?.

His personality is flamboyant and had publicly denigrated Jiang Qin, so admitting defeat is out of the question.

Thus, in the sunk market, the delusion of “me and Jiang Qin splitting it evenly” surfaces again.

But to outsiders, this isn’t an even split at all; it appears that Jiang Qin fears a cooled-off market without competitors, eerily like walking a dog every day.

Lu Zhichuan’s call involved the acquisition of Quick Pay.

Currently, both sides had reached a stalemate in negotiation at ten, then couldn’t move forward.

Zhang Boiqing called primarily because journalists had visited the school supposedly to cover the graduation ceremony, but in reality, it was due to the “Group-Buy President” graduating.

However, Jiang Qin was too drunk, so the call never got through.

Jiang Qin didn’t return Cao Guangyu’s call because he only sought to show off.

He had gained some attention today, with the title of a wealthy second generation even spreading to other classes.

Zhou Chao and Qiangzi called because they were headed home and wanted to say goodbye. They were already on the road by the time Jiang Qin was asleep.

As for Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini, their calls weren’t going through to Feng Nanshu, filled with imaginations; thus, they couldn’t resist and called Jiang Qin’s phone.

Since they had dinner together and knew Jiang Qin was drunk, they assumed the little rich girl would answer.

But Jiang Qin smelled a rat.

Both Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini knew he was with family, so their concerns about safety didn’t hold up. Even if they had issues, they should have called Feng Nanshu.

The rush to call him must have had some ulterior motive.

Without showing his hand, he calls Gao Wenhui and after a wait, hears her voice.

    “Jiang Qin?”

“It’s me. Why did you call?”

“Oh, I had nothing important. Just wanted to check if you had sobered up.”

Jiang Qin didn’t respond, just a cold chuckle followed by silence, waiting for Gao Wenhui to feel the pressure.

Gao Wenhui’s heart raced but she insisted, “Really, it’s nothing.”

“Gao Wenhui, I’ve always thought you were smart. Confessing proactively and being caught is a completely different concept—you know, I’m giving you a chance.”

“Jiang Qin, it really wasn’t me.”

    “If not you, then who?”

Jiang Qin didn’t know what she meant but the authority was enough!

“Think about it, I haven’t even seen that thing before. How could I have done it, right?”

Struck as if by lightning, Jiang Qin’s voice trembles, “Then who did it…”

Gao Wenhui swallows, “It was Wang Haini.”

    “……”

Wang Haini soon receives the call, unabashed, “Yes, it was me. Even during that big meeting in Shanghai, I did it!”

    “??????”

Moments later, the door to the suite opens and Feng Nanshu walks in, holding a bag of roasted chestnuts.

She knows Jiang Qin loves these, so she picked some up on her way back and also asked if he thought she was well-behaved, seeming like a naive fool.

Jiang Qin sits on the couch and speaks emotionlessly, “Little rich girl, your fox tail is showing.”

    “?”

Feng Nanshu looks back and touches her buttocks puzzled, “It seems not showing.”

Then, because she went against Jiang Qin’s wishes, she got spanked.

During this, Feng Nanshu realized she was betrayed by her own team, staying utterly still out of fear.

    “Anything to say?”

Feeling the sting, the little rich girl lifts her gaze, “Jiang Qin, spanking feels a bit ambiguous.”

Jiang Qin, dumbfounded, retorts, “Me spanking you is ambiguous, and you didn’t feel that when you were acting up?”

The little rich girl pauses, “That sounds somewhat reasonable…”

    “Anything else to say?”

“I was wrong, I won’t cheat and freeload again.”

Only recently hearing this, Jiang Qin, unaware of the details, widens his eyes in disbelief.

Feng Nanshu looks at him, suddenly puffing up her cheeks, “Brother, you seem like you want to laugh.”

    “Laugh my ass, I’m mad.”

    “Awo.”

Feng Nanshu feels he isn’t angry, “Brother, are we still lifelong friends?”

Jiang Qin stays silent a long while, can they still be friends after she swallowed and siphoned?

    “Barely, I guess.”

After a while, Feng Nanshu picks up her phone, repeatedly calls in the small trio group “bad person” and also sends an angry hamster emoticon.

It then dawns on Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini that this time Feng Nanshu hadn’t dared nor was caught on site. They had been tricked by guilt exposing their act in Shanghai.

    “Is Jiang Qin mad?”

“He spanked me, but he dotes on me. Even if I’m naughty, he wants me, so yes, we’re still lifelong friends.”

Gao Wenhui is taken aback, “Even after all this, still friends? I swear, Jiang Qin’s resilience could survive the end of the universe!”

Feng Nanshu puffs her cheeks and types, “Gao Wenhui, I’m not sharing any secrets with you again. You’re a terrible teammate.”
