Chapter Index

It was past 1pm in the afternoon and the people in Room 208 had long since left. Only a pile of stripped power sockets and a messy table covered in wires remained.

Jiang Qin held Feng Nanshu’s petite, lovely, snow-white jade feet and helped her put on her socks, even mischievously tickling her sole, causing the little rich girl to struggle and nearly kick him in the face.

“An upright gentleman cannot be casually rewarded,” Jiang Qin pretended to be angry.

    “?”

After putting on her shoes, Jiang Qin sent her back and then grabbed his luggage to head to Linchuan train station.

It was the National Day holiday so the train station was jam-packed with people, a headache-inducing sight. Although not as exaggerated as the Spring Festival travel rush, the crowdedness was about the same.

Guo Zihang arrived later, seeming to have gotten a bit fatter. His already round face no longer had any discernible contours.

“That baby-voiced little auntie sure dotes on you, fattening you up like this?” Jiang Qin grinned.

Guo Zihang’s breath suddenly hitched, “Don’t… don’t mention it.”

“What happened? Her husband found out?” Jiang Qin’s heart sank, thinking this swollen face couldn’t be from a beating, right?

“No, I added her QQ and chatted for two days but felt our social circles were too different. We didn’t have much in common to talk about. She didn’t understand anything I said and I was clueless about the business matters she discussed. Before long, we stopped contacting each other.”

Guo Zihang had a pathetic look. Seemed his puppy love ended soon after it started, crushed by reality.

Jiang Qin reached out and patted his shoulder, “Don’t worry, there are all sorts of weirdos in this world. I definitely won’t discriminate against you.”

“Jiang bro, I think I just felt a bit empty inside after suddenly leaving my hometown so I sought some sense of security.”

“Enough, no need to make more excuses for your perversion. Hurry and get on the train.”

Jiang Qin pushed Guo Zihang onto the train. As they walked to their seat through the crowded aisle, a middle-aged man in front carrying a bulging white snakeskin bag completely blocked Jiang Qin’s view.

Only after the man sat down did Jiang Qin realize he had reached seat 41. He shifted his body and sat down.

As soon as he sat, his gaze froze and he couldn’t help furrowing his brow slightly.

“Jiang Qin, long time no see.”

Wang Huiru raised her hand in greeting while Chu Siqi sat beside her, her face conflicted as she looked at him.

    “Long time no see.”

After speaking, Jiang Qin turned to look at Guo Zihang but found he also had a surprised expression, clearly not expecting why these two would appear here either.

“Come on, let’s go take a piss.”

“Huh? But I don’t need to pee.” Guo Zihang looked totally confused.

Jiang Qin didn’t care about that. He dragged him towards the front of the train car, “If you don’t need to, then force it out for me.”

The two walked all the way to the connection between train cars and leaned against the smoking area, staring at each other wide-eyed for a long time.

    “You told them?”

Guo Zihang coughed, “Wang Huiru asked me the other day which train I was taking. I didn’t think much of it and just told her.”

“Damn it, train tickets can’t specify the train car, right? How could we run into them like this?” Jiang Qin thought to himself, did I forget to check the almanac before leaving today?

“Actually it’s quite normal. People with similar destinations are usually arranged in the same car. Jiang bro, since you don’t like Chu Siqi and she won’t bite, just treat her as a stranger.”

    “…”

Jiang Qin pondered for a moment and felt Guo Zihang made sense. He had a completely indifferent attitude towards Chu Siqi. There was no need to avoid her like a mouse seeing a cat. If others saw, they might think she had hurt him deeply. How embarrassing.

So the two returned to their original seats and sat down without a word. Until the train started moving and the scenery outside kept flashing by, they didn’t say a single thing to each other.

Actually, Jiang Qin’s suspicion wasn’t unwarranted because Chu Siqi had indeed orchestrated this deliberately.

Jiang Qin had blocked her phone number and deleted her from QQ. Even Wang Huiru’s number was blocked. Other than creating a “chance encounter” through Guo Zihang, she really couldn’t think of any other way to see Jiang Qin again.

Of course, she never expected this encounter to be so thorough. The heavens actually arranged for them to sit face-to-face.

Chu Siqi was very happy because she really wanted to see Jiang Qin and say a few words to him.

She wanted to say she wouldn’t test him anymore, that she accepted his confession. Could they forget the unpleasantness during this period, start a new relationship and begin anew?

She admitted to being a bit willful but from now on she would only be willful with him, okay?

As long as he didn’t like Hong Yan and didn’t let her act arrogantly in front of her, she would definitely become his girlfriend.

She didn’t know his good points before and thought they were a given. But now that someone was competing with her for him, she suddenly realized he was really not bad. Being with him wasn’t a losing proposition for her.

But seeing Jiang Qin’s hollow gaze and expressionless face, the words at the tip of Chu Siqi’s tongue were swallowed back down.

She didn’t understand. Why had she become so timid in front of Jiang Qin?

Her former self who would lose her temper at the drop of a hat, how did she become so cautious in front of someone who let her freely throw tantrums?

“Are you all university students? I’m from University of Science and Technology. How about you?”

Train seating was usually arranged with three on the right and two on the left. Jiang Qin sat by the window with Guo Zihang in the middle. A male student who looked to be from a Linchuan university sat in the aisle seat.

He had been staring at Chu Siqi since boarding the train. After it had been running for twenty minutes, he finally couldn’t resist striking up a conversation.

    “Linchuan University.”

    “University of Science and Technology.”

    “Linchuan University.”

    “…”

Everyone responded in low voices but it still couldn’t deter this male student’s determination to chat them up, “I’m Sun Yanbin. How about you?”

    “Guo Zihang. We’re schoolmates.”

    “And you two beauties?”

Wang Huiru smiled without speaking while Chu Siqi completely ignored him. Her gaze remained fixed on Jiang Qin who was pretending to doze off, her lips bitten pale and bloodless.

Just then, the train wobbled slightly. Suddenly, Chu Siqi’s phone slid off. Actually, with this degree of shaking and the way she was holding her phone, it shouldn’t have fallen so easily at all, but it dropped with pinpoint accuracy right by Jiang Qin’s feet.

Jiang Qin changed his position and continued his temporary blindness, but heard a gentle voice beside his ear.

“My phone fell. Could you pick it up for me?”

    “…”

In this period of battling with Hong Yan, Chu Siqi had indeed grown a lot. She even knew how to employ such deliberate moves now, but she couldn’t help that the guy named Sun Yanbin sitting beside her was too eager. He lowered his head and picked up the phone for Chu Siqi, his movements brisk and decisive without the slightest hesitation.

Thanks buddy, you’re a good dude.

Jiang Qin silently expressed his gratitude and then changed his position.

    “Here’s your phone, beautiful.”

    Chu Siqi was speechless, “Thanks.”

“You’re welcome. Let’s add each other on QQ?” Sun Yanbin took out his own phone.

Chu Siqi was getting annoyed, “I don’t use QQ. I use Fetion.”

The white knight Sun Yanbin let out an awkward laugh but very naturally and swiftly changed the subject, “Are you together?”

As his words fell, everyone looked at Jiang Qin, hoping he would say something, but they saw him lightly shake his head, “Don’t know each other. Just a coincidence.”

“Oh oh, then I’ll make a group. In the future when we go home we can go together. The more the merrier and it’ll be more convenient on the way.”

Sun Yanbin’s skill level was quite high. He knew Chu Siqi was deliberately avoiding adding him so he made this suggestion. It wasn’t uncommon for out-of-town university students to travel home together. This could be considered a very legitimate reason.

Moreover, to disguise his true intentions, he purposely added Guo Zihang first, appearing very proper.

But to his surprise, when he went to add Jiang Qin, he was rejected once again.

    “I don’t use QQ.”

“You also use Fetion? Is this thing so popular now?” Sun Yanbin paused slightly.

Jiang Qin opened his eyes halfway, “I use carrier pigeons.”

At this moment, Wang Huiru’s phone suddenly vibrated. She opened it to find Chu Siqi had sent her a message telling her to help Sun Yanbin make the group and pull Jiang Qin in.

She had now lost all means of contacting Jiang Qin. After deliberately creating a “chance encounter”, she didn’t dare to speak up. Her only hope now was Sun Yanbin’s suggestion of a “going home together group”.

If no prior settings were made, pulling someone into a group didn’t require the person’s consent. Chu Siqi knew about this feature.

Jiang Qin didn’t even know how to delete friends. He probably wouldn’t set up this feature.
