Chapter 100: Desert Greens and Ambitious Projects
by xennovelA golf course? A golf course in the desert? You must be joking!
Yang Yuan glared, his disbelief unmistakable!
A true golf course demands immaculate greenery, not simply trees and patches of grass—it rivals even the finest soccer fields.
In theory, the desert doesn’t even have the basic conditions for that.
“Yang General, that’s exactly it. We have no idea how many layers of a mud-like substance Mingsha Tourism sprayed near the guesthouses. It didn’t seem like much at first, but in just a few weeks, the desert was blanketed with grass about three to four centimeters thick.”
Looking out, it was as if a meticulously crafted green carpet had been laid over the Shadou area, yet not one tourist raised a finger in praise!
Liu Qing managed a wry smile.
Initially, his reaction mirrored Yang Yuan’s disbelief, but reality soon set in.
“So… did they green over the entire area?”
Yang Yuan frowned and began pounding away at his keyboard, determined to see just how extensive this ‘golf course’ really was.
“No, they’ve only landscaped the slopes around Tengwang Pavilion and Qixia Town!”
Liu Qing shook his head.
“Then why not green the entire area?”
“I suspect the cost is astronomical. But now Mingsha Tourism has pulled in billions—and they might expand even further!”
Liu Qing explained.
If this technology were both cheap and effective, the entire northwest desert could be transformed.
Yang Yuan soon found several short videos online posted by other users. The slopes around Tengwang Pavilion looked lush, with small lakes and guesthouses that truly evoked the feel of a golf green.
“Sigh! Zhu Qiang really has a knack for this. He’s leaps and bounds ahead of Qi Haoyong from Ning An Cultural Tourism. If our drama weren’t propping things up here, the tourists would’ve long been snatched away—who wouldn’t want to see a desert turned like this?”
“That’s true, but unfortunately Qi Haoyong shows no sense of urgency. Besides the Ancient Building Courtyard and our guesthouses we built together, the Ning’an desert remains unchanged.”
Liu Qing nodded emphatically in agreement.
Just over three months ago, there was only a tiny log cabin. Now, not only have three major Ancient Building clusters emerged, but they’ve also introduced full-scale landscaping—it’s almost unbelievable.
Nowadays, mention desert tourism and people immediately think of Mingsha County. Without matching guesthouses there, tourists might easily outnumber those in the established Ning’an area.
“No way—we need to call Qi Haoyong yet again and insist on development in the desert, or else once the series wraps, our Ancient Building Courtyard and guesthouses will be useless.”
After a long pause, Yang Yuan leaned back in his chair.
“I’ll go speak with Qi Haoyong later,” he said.
“Forget it—I’ll contact him directly!”
Unbeknownst to them, over at Guesthouse One, Zhu Qiang, Luo Peng, and Xu Hao were also discussing the matter.
For the past two weeks, Xu Hao had been filming ‘Martial World Legend’ in Qixia Town. With his seasoned experience, most scenes were captured in a single take, speeding up the process.
In just half a month, they completed nearly half the shooting schedule.
But the rigors of nonstop, high-intensity filming eventually took their toll, so Xu Hao granted the crew a day off.
Meanwhile, Luo Peng had been busy with green landscaping and spraying, achieving impressive results, while Zhu Qiang focused on legal matters. This was their first meeting in two weeks.
“Brother Hao, all funds have now been transferred—a total of 520 million! And the culprit is already in custody. That trending topic is finally over!” Zhu Qiang announced, sipping his tea.
No one had realized just how busy he’d been these past weeks, but the results were undeniably satisfying.
“What about Zhang Lu? We really need to thank him this time!”
Xu Hao nodded.
“Zhang Lu’s legal fees have been settled, too. We originally wanted to invite him over, but he snagged another case at the last minute. Still, he promised to visit our desert project soon.”
Zhu Qiang stood and refilled his tea.
“That’s settled then! When he comes, we’ll give him a proper welcome!”
“Right!”
“Brother Hao, now that Mingsha Tourism has secured cash flow, can we kick off some new projects?”
Zhu Qiang resumed his seat and continued,
“It’s time to launch initiatives like the road to Oasis 1. That project has been stalled for far too long.”
Xu Hao rose and walked over to the full plot map.
“Alright!”
Zhu Qiang hurriedly opened his notebook.
“But… do we pave an asphalt road or…”
Just as Zhu Qiang was about to start, Xu Hao hesitated.
“Brother Hao, are you worried that a standard road wouldn’t match our guesthouse aesthetic?”
Zhu Qiang immediately grasped Xu Hao’s concern.
“Exactly. But if we build a brick road, what about self-driving tourists? They expect to drive right up to Tengwang Pavilion!”
Xu Hao stared at the map, his brow furrowed.
The road leading from Hongsha Gang Village to the plot’s edge lies perfectly at the center of the eastern border—skipping a road here just isn’t an option.
“Brother Hao, what if we designate the parking lot at the entrance as the drop-off point? We can tell visitors that the guesthouses are just a short walk away. A five-kilometer trek in the desert is tough, but on a brick road, it won’t be so taxing!”
At that moment, Luo Peng glanced at the map and said,
“So, you mean to have them disembark right at the entrance?”
Xu Hao and Zhu Qiang exchanged a quick, knowing look.
“Yes. Later, we can build Ancient Buildings and additional guesthouses along both sides of the brick road. This not only increases our capacity but also encourages proper parking for visitors.”
Luo Peng added,
“That idea has promise.”
Xu Hao and Zhu Qiang both studied the map intently.
If they proceeded with Luo Peng’s plan, a grand street of Ancient Buildings would stretch straight to Tengwang Pavilion. From above, it would resemble a T-shaped complex set in the desert.
“Brother Hao, I think President Luo’s idea is spot on. Even without constructing additional guesthouses, this five-kilometer brick road alone could carry our project.”
Returning to the matter at hand, Zhu Qiang asked,
“So, what are your needs?”
Xu Hao looked towards Zhu Qiang.
“Brother Hao, I need to develop some office spaces within the Ancient Buildings. With our expanding business, working in the county town has become a real hassle. We end up shuttling back and forth, wasting precious work hours.”
Zhu Qiang quickly replied,
“Brother Hao, I have a similar issue. I don’t need much—just some decent employee dorms. After a hard day’s work, getting home shouldn’t feel like a marathon. It’s manageable for those in Hongsha Gang Village, but for others, it’s just too far.”
Luo Peng jumped in eagerly,
“Exactly!”
The conversation buzzed with new ideas as they planned the future of their desert project.
