Chapter Index

I stopped by the pharmacy on the way and picked up some medicine for diarrhea, along with a few things to eat tonight.

Lin Zheng Ran returned to the rental house with Little Fox.

Though she carried a dog plush that looked just like Lin Zheng Ran, Han Wenwen still seemed a bit down.

He set the bags on the table, kicked off his shoes, and headed to the bathroom. “I’ll use the restroom quick—you warm up some water and take your medicine first.”

    “Okay.”

Han Wenwen watched Lin Zheng Ran step into the bathroom and reach for the door, leaning against the wall with a knowing smile.

As he went to close the door, Lin Zheng Ran glanced back and caught Han Wenwen staring at him strangely. Instead of locking it, he stepped out again.

    He flicked her forehead lightly.

Little Fox yelped in surprise. “Brother Zheng Ran, why’d you hit me? I didn’t even say anything!”

    The poor fox looked aggrieved.

“What were you thinking when you looked at me just now?”

Han Wenwen’s thoughts exposed, she turned her head away with a practiced pout. “I wasn’t thinking anything. Just that guys don’t need to lock the door in the bathroom—nobody’s going to peek anyway.”

“Is that so?” Lin Zheng Ran asked seriously. “Would the fox peek?”

Han Wenwen shot back confidently: “Foxes aren’t human, so of course they’d peek.”

Naturally, that earned her another flick. She winced and muttered, “So stingy,” but inside, she thought, what’s wrong with my boyfriend taking a look?

Lin Zheng Ran ignored her and locked the door behind him.

“I’ll take a quick shower while I’m in here. You get yourself sorted too.”

Han Wenwen felt like she was missing out big time hearing about the shower. Why did this single-room rental bathroom even have a lock?

    What a pointless addition!

She slipped off her shoes, hooked her socks off with her toes, and revealed her smooth, pale feet as she stepped onto the rug by the bed.

She wasn’t used to lying on the bed; she preferred the fluffy rug.

That’s where she usually changed clothes anyway.

Han Wenwen rummaged through the box by the bed and pulled out a pair of super-short jeans and a loose, off-shoulder sweater. But as she went to close the box…

She suddenly remembered something and felt around the bottom. Sure enough, she found it.

    “I knew I had it!”

She pulled out the item: a pack of unopened silk stockings.

She’d spotted them by accident at the supermarket before. From all the novels and shows she’d watched, Han Wenwen knew guys often couldn’t resist the smooth, mysterious feel of silk stockings.

They showed up everywhere in stories, proving their power.

So, she’d bought a couple, planning to wear them for Lin Zheng Ran sometime.

    Tonight was perfect.

The sound of water running in the bathroom made her glance back with a smile as she took out the stockings.

    She’d never worn them before.

Sitting on the bed, she opened the pack and ran her fingers over the material.

“Such a comfy texture~ I think I bought tights, right?”

Han Wenwen checked them in her hands—yes, they were.

Her cheeks flushed as she slid off her skirt.

She carefully rolled the stockings up her feet and slowly pulled them up her legs.

Once they hugged her skin perfectly, she stood and admired her legs in the black stockings. They looked sexier than usual, probably because of the color.

And they felt different to the touch.

But she felt oddly shy about it.

Plus, they were a bit uncomfortable.

Han Wenwen thought they should be comfy. Weren’t silk stockings supposed to feel good?

She tugged at the part around her hips; it snapped back, and she realized the issue.

So, she pulled them off again.

She dug out a pair of underwear from the box.

This time, she put on the stockings first, then the underwear, and the discomfort vanished.

    So smooth now.

“That’s how it’s done! Feels way better.”

Han Wenwen slipped on the short jeans and off-shoulder sweater, then stood to check herself out.

The sweater was oversized, like loungewear, covering her whole hips.

    Paired with the short jeans…

From a distance, it looked like she was just wearing the sweater and stockings.

    Creating that misleading vibe.

She imagined Lin Zheng Ran’s reaction when he came out and felt her face heat up.

Sure, Brother Zheng Ran was always proper, but as she’d said back in middle school, he was still a guy at heart.

He might act composed, but he couldn’t be totally unaffected.

Han Wenwen flopped onto the rug, clutching the Lin Dog plush.

After a while, she heard Lin Zheng Ran call from the bathroom: “Have you taken your medicine?”

Han Wenwen snapped back to reality. “Right away, right away!”

She’d almost forgotten. So, she warmed some water, waited for it to heat up, then opened the medicine and swallowed it.

She poured a cup for Lin Zheng Ran too, then settled back on the rug, lying down with the Lin Dog held high.

“Little doggy, what do you think will happen tonight?” She let her mind wander.

The silent dog seemed to reply: “Silly fox, you’re overthinking it. Nothing’s going to happen.”

Han Wenwen pouted defiantly: “Nonsense! Who says nothing will happen?”

She suddenly recalled that time she’d blurted out her eighteenth birthday wish in front of Lin Zheng Ran and felt she’d jinxed it.

Saying it too soon killed the mystery.

From the bathroom, Lin Zheng Ran heard the mumbling: “What was that? Did you say something?”

Little Fox quickly responded: “Nothing at all! Just keep showering, Brother Zheng Ran. I was talking to myself.”

    She laughed awkwardly.

Then, with a fox’s playful swipe, she scratched at the Lin Dog and lightly punched its mouth.

Han Wenwen set the dog aside and turned, lost in thought for a moment.

Her slender fingers traced patterns on the rug, then started drawing circles.

Her mind drifted to all sorts of wild ideas, but just then, Lin Zheng Ran stepped out of the bathroom.

Han Wenwen looked back. “Done already? That was quick! Only a few minutes?”

Lin Zheng Ran towel-dried his hair. “How long does a shower take anyway?”

Han Wenwen eyed him now—he’d put his pants back on, but his upper body was bare. She’d felt his muscles through his shirt before,

but never seen them this clearly.

His lines were sharp and defined, not overly bulky, but perfectly toned and incredibly appealing.

She swallowed hard, her voice softening. “It takes me at least half an hour. You’ve only been in there ten minutes?”

“Guys are just faster. Did you take the anti-diarrhea medicine?”

    “Yeah.”

As Lin Zheng Ran dried his hair, he noticed something off about Han Wenwen. He saw the black stockings on her usually smooth legs.

“Why are you wearing stockings? Where’d you get them?” he asked, puzzled.

Han Wenwen had planned to tease him a bit after putting them on, but now, with his bare chest and damp hair making him look even handsomer,

    she felt shy instead.

She lost all nerve for flirting.

So, she held the plush in front of her legs to hide them, blushing as she said: “I bought them, of course. Does Brother Zheng Ran think they look bad?”

Lin Zheng Ran didn’t want to comment. He just thought this fox was a bit young for them—high schoolers back home didn’t wear stuff like that.

But they were alone at home, so it didn’t matter.

And Han Wenwen was naturally more mature than Heqing or Lily, even at the same age. She pulled it off without looking out of place.

Whereas Heqing and Lily in white stockings? That’d just be weird.

“They look good, but don’t wear them out. Keep it for home to prevent varicose veins.”

With that, he headed back to the bathroom to dry his hair properly.

Han Wenwen blinked. “Prevent varicose veins? How do you know that?”

She propped herself up on the rug, shyly adding: “And I wouldn’t wear them out anyway. They’re just for you, Brother Zheng Ran. I’m your little fox—no one else gets to see.”

She stood and tiptoed to the bathroom, listening to the hair dryer as she whispered seductively: “Hey, want me to dry your hair for you?”

Lin Zheng Ran turned to see the bashful Han Wenwen.

    “Why’d you swallow like that?”

“Huh? I didn’t,” she said, then swallowed again, feeling awkward. “Maybe I’m just hungry. Let’s grab something to eat later.”

She shook her head: “That doesn’t matter.” Gripping his arm, she tried again: “Let me dry your hair, Brother Zheng Ran. You can’t do everything yourself—what’s the point of having me around?”

Seeing how eager she was, Lin Zheng Ran handed her the dryer.

    “Alright, you do it.”

    “Really? Great!”
