Chapter Index

Lily’s heart raced quickly, but in that moment, she could barely focus on the sound of her own heartbeat.

She kissed Lin Zheng Ran’s lips, following his lead with a touch of her own initiative.

Their kiss made a sound like sipping through a straw while drinking.

So this is what kissing feels like.

It was a bit like eating cotton candy, but not quite—more like a feeling that didn’t match anything else.

    An indescribable sensation.

She wanted to keep kissing Zheng Ran like this forever.

    How wonderful.

    Her breathing grew uneven.

    Soft gasps escaped her throat.

She felt Lin Zheng Ran’s hand slide to her back, slowly undoing a clasp.

Lily opened her eyes just a slit.

Her usually lively eyes now looked soft and watery.

Lin Zheng Ran paused and asked, “What’s wrong?”

She hesitated, then said, “Nothing.” But as she felt Zheng Ran’s hand wander, she shyly scolded, “You idiot, Zheng Ran.”

Lin Zheng Ran smiled and kissed her again; Lily met him halfway, lightly touching his chest.

Her other hand brushed against the firm muscles of his abdomen.

Then it ventured further under the covers…

    Until

Her face flushed even deeper, reminding her of that moment when she first walked in.

    It seemed different from then.

Just as Lily tried to move closer to Lin Zheng Ran, sounds suddenly came from the next room.

“Hurry up, hurry up. Is the coat that hard to take off?” a familiar male voice said.

“What’s the rush? Is it really that serious?” the woman’s voice was familiar too.

“It’s all because of you, making me eat that turtle, lamb kidneys, and chicken kidneys. Now I feel overheated, even my forehead’s burning.”

“Hmph.” The girl smiled: “You’re the one calling yourself a teacher, getting all impatient like that. And it was you who said you craved kidneys, so I took you to eat them. Look at you now.”

“But you ordered so much. Eating that much is bound to make me fiery, and I couldn’t waste it.”

“I ordered a lot? Who was it on our date saying they were craving kidneys, comparing yourself to Jia Baoyu from Dream of the Red Chamber, who was born with a magical jade in his mouth, while you were born needing kidneys? You’re just made for them.”

Their conversation came through clearly at first, not bothering them much, but by this point, it made Lin Zheng Ran and Lily both burst out laughing.

    The two exchanged amused glances.

Lin Zheng Ran puzzled, “Their voices sound so familiar, especially the woman’s—it’s like our homeroom teacher?”

Lily, her face red, quietly explained what had happened earlier.

“It’s not just like—it is our homeroom teacher and the Class One homeroom teacher next door. I saw them when I went downstairs earlier. They drove by and decided to get a room here.”

Lin Zheng Ran was surprised and thoughtful:

“I’d heard rumors at school that the teachers from our two classes were a couple, but I didn’t pay much attention. Turns out it’s true. What a coincidence—they’re right next door, just a wall away.”

Lily glanced at the wall beside them and whispered, “But why can we hear them so clearly? Is the soundproofing really that bad?”

Lin Zheng Ran looked at the wall too:

“It’s normal for a hotel in a small town to have poor soundproofing. Plus, they’re talking loudly. But logically, their bed shouldn’t be on our side; this should be near the bathroom.”

Lily blushed: “Wait, you’re saying the teachers are in the bathroom area…?”

No sooner had she spoken than meowing sounds started from the next room.

    And they were loud.

Lily’s face turned bright red in embarrassment, and she bit her lip.

Because it was people they knew, Lin Zheng Ran frowned too, though he knew such things were normal for everyone.

But hearing their familiar teachers making those noises next door

was awkwardly vivid, making him think of their usual stern demeanor on the podium.

Lily could feel Lin Zheng Ran’s enthusiasm fading.

And right then, her stomach grumbled loudly with hunger.

It made Lily too embarrassed to even look at Lin Zheng Ran.

Lin Zheng Ran heard it: “Are you hungry?”

Lily spoke softly, since the noise next door was so loud, and she didn’t want them to hear: “I’m okay, hunger isn’t the main thing. It’s just… this next door is a bit too much.” Her voice trailed off awkwardly.

Lin Zheng Ran’s hand wandered a bit more, watching Lily’s furrowed brow and flushed cheeks.

“Zheng Ran…” She covered her mouth with her hand.

Lin Zheng Ran had only meant to kiss for a while and stop, but Lily had stirred up his desires. Though she acted all proud and playful normally,

during the kiss, she was surprisingly skilled—clearly, she’d seen her share of steamy stuff.

Even biting her finger could ignite passion.

But now, that little fox was waiting in another room, and in two hours, he had to pick up Heqing.

“There’s just too much going on today. Even without the noise next door, two hours is too rushed. Our first time should be enjoyable, not hurried.”

Lily opened her eyes slightly and nodded: “Yeah, if you’re going to pick up Heqing soon, the timing’s too tight. And doing this then going to get her… it feels off.”

“How about this,” she said unusually boldly, “next week on the trip, we’ll have separate rooms in the mountains. I’ll come to yours early.”

She watched Lin Zheng Ran smile at her, her face burning: “What are you smiling at, Zheng Ran? That’s what I meant!”

“Do you even need to explain? Is there another meaning?” he asked.

Lily pursed her lips tightly: “I guess not… that’s exactly what I meant.”

As they talked, the sounds from next door made everything feel strange.

Lin Zheng Ran pulled his hand back and gently stroked Lily’s head; she rested her hot forehead against his chest.

Half an hour later, Lin Zheng Ran dressed and left the room to find the little fox.

Sure enough, Lily was the same no matter where—they could be watching a movie, eating, or with faint noises from next door while she wasn’t asleep, yet she still leaned on his shoulder and slept soundly.

Though Lin Zheng Ran had to admit, over the years, it was Lily who had unexpectedly stirred his inner fire.

He went to the room number Han Wenwen had messaged him on the first floor and knocked.

    “Wenwen? It’s me. Open up.”

In the dimly lit 104 double bed room on the first floor, Han Wenwen sat on the edge of the bed, her fox-like eyes gazing wistfully at something, waiting.

Only when she heard the knock did the little fox perk up, quickly getting up to open the door.

    The door swung open fast.

Lin Zheng Ran looked down at Han Wenwen, her eyes full of longing; she stared up at him, whom she’d missed in just an hour.

    The door slammed shut.

Han Wenwen hugged Lin Zheng Ran tightly: “Brother Zheng Ran, you’re finally here!”

In the sunless room with curtains drawn, Lin Zheng Ran felt her tense, eager emotions in her embrace.

“Wenwen, you don’t have to hug so tightly…” He couldn’t even finish saying ‘tightly’.

Han Wenwen wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him boldly with her red lips.

Wenwen’s initiative was different from Lily’s; her charm was an innate, irresistible allure.

Lin Zheng Ran was only human. He’d just suppressed his desires, and now, stirred again,

    he couldn’t hold back anymore.
