Chapter 211: Awkward Encounters

The dampness on the sheets instantly snapped Lily back to reality.

She reached out and felt it, confirming the sheets were wet.

Blushing with embarrassment, she quickly pulled the blanket over to cover it.

She wondered what had happened. Did she wet the bed?

She recalled the dream from earlier that afternoon.

Oh no, she thought, this is mortifying.

Lin Zheng Ran noticed Lily acting strangely and pulled back slightly, looking at her curiously. “What’s wrong?”

Lily quickly replied, “Nothing, what do you mean?”

He saw her trying to hide something and tilted his head to peek, but she shifted away.

Lin Zheng Ran asked, puzzled, “Why are you blocking me? Move aside.”

“No!” she said, biting her lip in shame.

“Just shift a bit so I can see what it is.”

“I said no!”

Lin Zheng Ran touched her face with one hand; as she trembled, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close, revealing the spot on the sheets she’d been hiding.

There was a visible wet patch, though not a large one.

“Hmm?”

Lily was mortified and tried to cover his eyes with her hand. “Don’t look, you idiot!”

But Lin Zheng Ran said, “I’ve already seen it. What happened? Did you wet the bed?”

She froze. “No! I’m too old for that. I must have spilled some water on it earlier.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes! What else could it be…”

Lily didn’t know what else to say; she turned her face away, avoiding his gaze, her ears burning red.

Lin Zheng Ran saw her expression and believed her, though he was a bit surprised. “Well, that’s quite the accident.”

Lily stayed silent.

After a moment, she retorted, “Mind your own business…”

The room fell quiet.

Lily glanced around and whispered, “Zheng Ran, why aren’t you saying anything?”

“What should I say?”

She sighed, “Anything! It’s weird when you’re so quiet.”

“Nothing to say. It’s fine, I believe you.”

“You! Hmph!”

“Though I remember what you said before—we’d take it slow, from holding hands to hugging to kissing. Well, we’ve done it all this time. No time now, but next time, I’m not holding back.”

Lily responded with a shaky voice:

“Yeah, we agreed on that. This trip to the mountains, I’ll sneak to your room at night. Then… you can do whatever you want.”

It was nearly four o’clock, time to pack up and check out. Lily climbed out of bed, sat on the edge, and slipped on her little white socks and shoes.

She untied her ponytail, gathered her hair into two sections with her hands.

And redid it into twin tails.

As she headed to the restroom, she saw Lin Zheng Ran on his phone and asked, “Zheng Ran…”

“Hmm?”

“It’s not too small, right?”

“What’s not too small?” He looked up.

Lily pursed her lips. “You know, my height, weight, measurements…”

Lin Zheng Ran caught on and smiled. “It’s perfect. You’re not that tall anyway, and this build suits you just right.”

Lily felt a little satisfied and muttered as she entered the restroom, “That’s good, but Zheng Ran, you really…”

Lin Zheng Ran heard her mumbling and wiped sweat from his forehead.

He thought, it’s not that bad.

As he put on his jacket, he accidentally knocked Lily’s pillow askew and spotted four boxes of condoms hidden underneath.

Each one held ten.

Lin Zheng Ran widened his eyes slightly. “Lily has quite the appetite. When did you buy so many?”

From the restroom, Lily snapped back irritably, “What? It was my first time buying them—I didn’t know how many were in a box, so I got a few extra! I picked them up when I got the towel. It’s not about appetite!”

Lin Zheng Ran remembered the restroom walls were thin and barely soundproof.

He replied, “Well, they won’t go to waste. We can use them later.”

Lily fell silent inside.

Nothing more to say.

But as she sat on the toilet,

checking things out,

she realized how messy it was.

This stuff is unwearable—might as well throw it out.

After packing up, just before checking out, Lily pulled out the clothes she’d bought and had Lin Zheng Ran try them on again. They looked great, so she packed them up and they left the hotel.

On the street, Lily asked, “Zheng Ran, should we go pick up Heqing now?”

“Yeah, better go early. If that girl gets off the bus and doesn’t see us, she’ll call me nonstop.”

Lily thought, Zheng Ran really likes Heqing… he’s great in every way, except he’s such a flirt.

He suddenly asked, “You’re coming too?”

Lily nodded. “Of course. Heqing and I are both your girlfriends, so we’ll be living together eventually. She’s coming to the small town—I have to go pick her up. We’re like sisters.”

Lin Zheng Ran nodded. “Alright, let’s go. I’ll call a cab.”

While waiting for the cab, Lily casually asked, “Is Heqing staying at your place tonight?”

“I was planning for her to, but she said she wants to stay in a hotel for a few days. She thinks it’s awkward at my place, so no. After we pick her up, I’ll have to help her find a room.”

“Hmm.” At first, she didn’t think much of it. “That makes sense. Even though Heqing knows your uncle and aunt well, it’s still being a guest in your home.”

The cab pulled up, and suddenly she realized what was off.

“Wait! Zheng Ran, are you saying you’re spending tonight helping Heqing find a place? Were you planning to get a room with her?!”

Lin Zheng Ran looked down at her shocked expression. “Technically, yes.”

She clenched her fists, jealous. “So, are you planning to come home tonight?!”

“We’ll see.”

“Who believes that? You have the whole night! You two will end up doing everything!”

No way, I can’t let Zheng Ran and Heqing spend the night alone. Otherwise, with how his hands wandered when he kissed me earlier,

if he has the chance, he definitely will.

Lily said, “If Heqing’s scared to sleep alone, I’ll stay with her these next few nights! If you want to join, fine, but you two can’t be alone at night!”

Lin Zheng Ran blinked.

“See? I knew you weren’t planning to come home! You look so disappointed about not getting what you want!” Lily shot back, eyeing his expression.

The cab arrived, and Lin Zheng Ran said helplessly, “I don’t have that look. Let’s go.”

Lily pouted, cheeks puffed in jealousy, and turned away with a huff.

Such a flirt, hopelessly so.
