    Chapter 214: Simulated Crime Scene

After Yu Shaoyang was returned to the Detention Center.

Xiao Yu stood in the bedroom of the Villa.

He was preparing to simulate a crime scene!

“Enter the bedroom, converse, argue, shout…”

Step by step he approached the bed, his arms mimicking various actions as he muttered, “After enraging her… murder?”

He first mimicked a tug with his left arm, while his right reached toward the Landline Phone, using its cord to simulate a strangling motion.

His eyes darted around the room…

    “Unreasonable!”

Xiao Yu halted all his actions, frowning as he murmured, “At that moment, Wang Mei’s consciousness was normal. Any resistance should have been fierce… How could you restrain a struggling woman with one arm and wrap the phone cord around her neck? This isn’t a movie—does that make sense?”

First, keep in mind that controlling a struggling person with one arm is incredibly difficult.

Not to mention using a phone cord with a single arm for an assault.

And besides, Xiao Yu’s gaze never caught any traces of a violent struggle on the bed or floor.

    Science?

If the entire murder process were plausible,

    then it would mean

that Wang Mei obediently allowed Yu Shaoyang to wrap the phone cord around her neck.

To be strangled to death without any resistance?

Are you telling me this is a story?

His gaze shifted upward as Xiao Yu looked at the bedroom ceiling.

    Typical homes feature suspended ceilings.

Most ceilings are constructed with wooden panels that are later refined.

Xiao Yu fixed his eyes on a particular spot on the ceiling.

There, he found a small hole.

It was only about a third the thickness of a normal finger.

It was one of the fifty-three spots where a Surveillance Camera had once been installed.

Of course, the camera was long gone, leaving behind only stray wires.

    Where did these wires lead?

    Xiao Yu couldn’t tell.

Unless the entire Villa was wrecked, finding the ‘source’ was impossible.

But even without further investigation, Xiao Yu could roughly guess.

The wiring must be hidden in a secret space.

Even if discovered, it would be empty.

“Can we conclude that Yu Shaoyang’s murder scenario… doesn’t add up!”

After a moment’s thought, Xiao Yu mused, “So a third person was involved? What method did this individual use to subdue Wang Mei and render Yu Shaoyang unconscious? Drugs? Or some other trick… wait!”

    He moved about the bedroom.

Passing the window, the indoor bathroom, and every corner…

Finally, his eyes landed on a wall lamp.

What was so noteworthy about it?

Because the lamp had a hole about the thickness of a finger!

Then, Xiao Yu continued his search.

He found a total of five such holes in the bedroom.

They were located on the wall lamp, the chandelier, inside the wardrobe, in a floor corner, and in the bathroom.

Using his ‘Falcon’s Eye’ to inspect, he realized these weren’t mere holes but ducts!

“What are they used for?” Xiao Yu wondered.

    Activating ‘Wangdie’s Nose’…

Although three years had passed, the Villa remained sealed with no air circulation.

If any scents lingered in those ducts, traces should still remain.

Xiao Yu brought his nose close to the ducts and sniffed lightly.

    In an instant,

his body recoiled violently, and his expression shifted slightly.

    What was that smell?

Thanks to the ‘Medical Expert’ ability provided by the system, Xiao Yu’s mind quickly reached a definite conclusion.

    Enflurane, Sevoflurane, and Nitrous Oxide…

    What were these substances?

Enflurane and Sevoflurane are anesthetic gases!

Nitrous Oxide is an oxidizer—a chemical gas that also acts as laughing gas!

Gases like Enflurane and Sevoflurane are mostly used in surgery for general anesthesia.

And Nitrous Oxide can induce hallucinations and an excited state.

    “I see!”

    Xiao Yu was momentarily stunned.

Recalling some of the suspect Yu Shaoyang’s statements,

he remembered him saying, “After killing… I felt my blood boil and an indescribable thrill surged through me!”

    Boiling blood? Thrill?

Normally, a person wouldn’t experience their blood boiling or feel ecstatic after committing murder.

“It’s clear—at that moment, Yu Shaoyang was rendered unconscious by anesthesia. When he awoke, Wang Mei was already dead. The blood boiling and thrill… were due to laughing gas?”

A faint cold clarity flashed across Xiao Yu’s normally composed face as he murmured, “And it even induced some excited hallucinations—making him believe he committed the murder himself?”

    The deduction held together!

Leaving the bedroom, he moved into the Villa’s kitchen.

Xiao Yu continued his investigation for a full half-hour.

When he discovered another five small holes—hidden behind ducts in the kitchen—

his breath caught as a chilling vision played out in his mind.

One person had first released gas through the bedroom ducts to render Yu Shaoyang and Wang Mei unconscious for the murder.

    Then,

this person used gas in the kitchen to knock Yu Shaoyang out again, removed Wang Mei’s corpse, dismembered it, stuffed it into a Suitcase, and placed it back before Yu Shaoyang.

Finally, when Yu Shaoyang tried to dispose of the body,

could it be that the culprit had, using the same method as before, secretly swapped the Suitcase—replacing the body with that of a dog?

Yu Shaoyang couldn’t have noticed the discrepancy in the Suitcase’s weight, could he?

    Exactly—he couldn’t tell the difference.

When the police found the dog’s corpse, although it had long decayed to bare bones, tests confirmed it was a large Caucasian Shepherd Dog!

An adult dog easily weighs over fifty kilograms.

    “That makes sense.”

Murmuring, Xiao Yu continued, “Before the body was disposed of, it was switched, wasn’t it? All these elaborate maneuvers were orchestrated to make Yu Shaoyang believe he had been framed for murder.”

    “You succeeded!”

    “But what was the objective?”

    Xiao Yu was perplexed.

Assuming there truly was a culprit,

why murder Wang Mei, frame Yu Shaoyang, and then switch the corpse?

    What was the motive?

If it wasn’t because Yu Shaoyang’s overwhelming guilt kept him awake until he eventually turned himself in,

it seems the police were unaware of such a case, right?

Xiao Yu couldn’t fathom what benefit such elaborate measures would have for the true killer.

So, he waited for an answer.

At that very moment, his phone rang.

“Hey, bro, the guy’s been found.”

Wang Dong’s voice came through the phone: “What a coincidence—you’re looking for Deng Hua. He’s returned to the country and is on a flight to Bincheng. He’ll arrive in about an hour.”

    Who is Deng Hua?

The true owner of the Villa!

    Chapter Summary

Xiao Yu scrutinizes a baffling crime scene where both the victim’s resistance and struggle evidence are mysteriously absent. Employing his activated abilities—Falcon’s Eye, Wangdie’s Nose, and Medical Expert—he uncovers traces of anesthetic gases. His investigation reveals that a third party likely orchestrated the crime by using gas to disable both victims, later dismembering and switching a corpse with that of a dog. A phone call from Wang Dong then confirms that Deng Hua, the actual owner of the Villa, is on his way, deepening the mystery.
