Chapter Index

Around 10 a.m., Jiang Jingshi drifted off to a peaceful sleep in the hospital room, catching up on last night’s lost rest.

Meanwhile, in the hospital’s parking area, a Rolls-Royce had been sitting there for a while, with Fang Meng and Jiang Qian in the back seat.

The two kept glancing at a certain hospital room every now and then.

Lin Zheng Ran had said they could only come after noon, so they didn’t dare arrive a minute early.

But staying home was impossible, so they came early and waited.

Jiang Qian stared at the hospital room that looked no different from yesterday, her heart pounding with anxiety despite her cool exterior.

    Her hands clenched tightly.

She feared even Lin Zheng Ran might be stumped by the illness, especially since the doctor had called it terminal.

“Xiao Meng, do you think we can cure this disease?”

Fang Meng saw Jiang Qian’s worry, but she remembered Lin Zheng Ran saying in the library, ‘I’ve got a plan.’

    She hadn’t forgotten those words.

“Even if it’s terminal, there’s always the word ‘precedent’ in this world. Lin Zheng Ran is the youngest and most unimaginable genius I’ve ever met across all fields. With him around, I believe we can fix it.”

Jiang Qian glanced at Fang Meng, and they shared a look before turning back to the hospital room window, eyes full of hope. “That’s what I think too. Others might fail, but he won’t.”

Jiang Qian paused before adding, “Though I had no idea he knew medicine.”

The two best friends waited until exactly noon, and as the clock hit 12:15, Jiang Qian and Fang Meng arrived right at the hospital room door.

They stared at the quiet room, where everything seemed identical to the day before.

It looked like nothing had changed, but they hoped everything had.

Jiang Qian took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

From inside came Lin Zheng Ran’s voice: “Come in.”

    They pushed the door open.

Lin Zheng Ran saw it was them, checked the time, and smiled. “You’re here? Right on time—exactly noon.”

The two friends focused on Jiang Jingshi, sleeping peacefully on the bed.

Especially Jiang Qian, who looked at her sister, unsure if she was still unconscious, with no messy machines or advanced equipment around the bed.

For a split second, she thought Lin Zheng Ran had failed, because if things had improved, why was the room the same as yesterday?

Still, she gathered her courage and asked, “How did it go?”

Clinging to that sliver of hope.

Until she saw Lin Zheng Ran smile and say, “It went really well. She barely slept last night, so she’s catching up now. Once she wakes, we’ll have the hospital run some checks this afternoon.”

Jiang Qian froze for a moment before snapping out of it, staring at Lin Zheng Ran to confirm she hadn’t misheard, while Fang Meng beamed with joy.

Jiang Qian asked, “Really well? Meaning she’s getting better?”

“It’s really curable?” Fang Meng laughed.

Seeing how happy they were, Lin Zheng Ran said casually, “Didn’t I tell you she’d be fine by the time you came today? If I said it, you can count on it.”

Fang Meng had just said, “That’s amazing!”

When suddenly Jiang Qian threw herself into Lin Zheng Ran’s arms.

This surprised not just Lin Zheng Ran, but Fang Meng too.

Jiang Qian hugged him tightly, tears of relief streaming down. “Thank you, Lin Zheng Ran, thank you! I knew you could do it! Even if the doctors said it was impossible, I knew you would!”

Lin Zheng Ran understood how tense she was as a sister and shared a smile with Fang Meng across the room.

On the bed, Jiang Jingshi, who had been sleeping, woke up—woken by the noise, or perhaps by a sense of rivalry.

In her dream, she vaguely heard Lin Zheng Ran’s voice and her sister’s, imagining her sister trying to snatch him away as usual.

So when she opened her eyes, she saw her sister hugging Lin Zheng Ran.

Startled, she sat up straight away.

Her sudden movement made Fang Meng and Jiang Qian jump.

Jiang Qian wiped her tears and rushed to her sister. “Sister! You’re awake? Do you feel better than last night?!”

Fang Meng joined them. “Eldest Miss, how’s your body feeling?”

Still half-asleep, Jiang Jingshi paused, a mix of jealousy and concern on her face as she glanced at Lin Zheng Ran and then her sister. “I do feel better, but… what were you two just doing?”

Jiang Qian looked puzzled. “What do you mean?”

Fang Meng quickly caught on and laughed out loud.

It was clear the Eldest Miss was on the mend if she had the energy to be jealous.

Her laughter left Jiang Qian even more confused, and Lin Zheng Ran let out a sigh.

Soon after, Lin Zheng Ran and Fang Meng sat aside while Jiang Qian stayed by her sister’s side. “Sister, do you really feel much better than yesterday? How did it happen? Surgery?”

Jiang Jingshi shook her head. “I took some medicine last night, and it got a lot better.”

    “Medicine?”

Lin Zheng Ran, holding his phone and quickly replying to messages from a few little ones—he hadn’t seen them in days—answered, “It’s a special remedy I developed. No surgery needed; it cures it right at the root. And surgery wouldn’t have helped Jiang Jie’s condition anyway.”

Jiang Qian was truly astonished at that.

A remedy he developed himself—though it sounded unreal, with Lin Zheng Ran, unreal things often became real.

She gazed at him in admiration and said to her sister, “As long as it’s fixed!”

    Jiang Jingshi nodded.

Lin Zheng Ran picked up the bottle of mineral water he’d been drinking, only to find it empty.

Fang Meng asked, “Out of water?”

Jiang Qian and Jiang Jingshi heard this too, since there were several unopened fancy bottles nearby.

Both reached for one at the same time.

By accident, they grabbed the same bottle.

The sisters looked at each other in surprise.

Jiang Jingshi said, “Qian Qian, what are you doing?”

Even in a good mood, Jiang Qian’s voice had a cool edge. “Getting water for him. Sister, what about you? You’re the patient; sit back.”

Jiang Jingshi, still thinking about that earlier scene, felt a twinge of jealousy. “I’m much better now. I’ll get it; you sit down.”

As they spoke, Fang Meng stood up and handed Lin Zheng Ran another bottle.

Lin Zheng Ran took it and said thanks.

The sisters let go once he started drinking.

But as they watched him drink, they exchanged meaningful glances.

Around 1 p.m., Lin Zheng Ran arranged for the hospital to run tests on Jiang Jingshi.

The expert doctors in charge were all on edge, but Jiang Jingshi knew her own state and felt relaxed with Lin Zheng Ran there.

They wheeled her into the examination room.

Lin Zheng Ran, Jiang Qian, and Fang Meng waited outside.

After the detailed scans, a doctor inside suddenly exclaimed in surprise, “Huh? Is the machine broken?”

A nearby expert asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Probably an operation error. Let me adjust it and check again.”

The expert thought, How could there be an error now?

    His face grew serious.

But after the doctor carefully examined the machine, he said in astonishment, “The machine’s fine! Look at this—the areas that were worsening just days ago are suddenly normal today. No sign of the disease at all.”

The experts crowded around, studying the screen closely.

One after another, they murmured in disbelief.

“It really is! How is this possible?!”

“This doesn’t make sense. Double-check the machine’s data!”

The doctor checked again. “Everything’s perfect. The machine shows clearly—the diseased spots are gone! Not just improved; they’re completely vanished!”

Outside the examination room, Jiang Qian and Fang Meng overheard and grinned at Lin Zheng Ran.

    Lin Zheng Ran smiled too.

He thought to himself that history had its share of unexplained medical miracles; this one wouldn’t stand out.
