Chapter Index

All four headed to the bed.

Lin Zheng Ran sat cross-legged there.

Lily sat like a duck with her golden twin tails draped over her legs; Heqing hugged her knees, looking sweet and obedient; Han Wenwen bent her legs and rested her arms on them.

The three focused intently on him.

It felt like a family meeting.

As the one in charge, Lin Zheng Ran said, “I’ve been busy with some things for the past week, but luckily it didn’t mess up our travel plans. How are you three coming along with packing your luggage?”

Heqing raised her hand first, eager to chime in, “I’m all packed and ready to go anytime!”

Lily lifted her hand too, “I made time to go home and pack over the last few days. My suitcase is all set.”

Han Wenwen raised her fox-like paw with a smile, “Same here.”

Lin Zheng Ran nodded, “Great. I haven’t packed mine yet, but I’ll sort it out tonight. Tomorrow, we’ll hit the road by car for our trip.”

Lily was surprised, “We’re leaving tomorrow? That’s so soon!”

Heqing looked worried, “You’ve just finished up with company stuff, Lin Zheng Ran. Why not rest a bit more? A trip’s fun, but we’ll be hiking and all—that could get tiring.”

The little fox agreed, “Yeah, Lin Zheng Ran, take an extra day at home. We’re not in a rush anyway.”

“No need. You three are underestimating me. I’ve been busy, but it’s not physical work, and I’ve already rested today. A good night’s sleep, and I’ll be fine.”

The three young girls saw that Lin Zheng Ran looked in good shape.

So, they didn’t push it further.

Lin Zheng Ran smiled, “As for you three, hiking’s a real workout. Make sure you’re prepared.”

Heqing patted her chest, “No problem at all.” Lily added confidently, “Climbing a mountain? Piece of cake.”

“Alright, it’s settled then. Meet at the hotel entrance at eight tomorrow morning, and we’ll head out by car to the mountains!”

The three replied in unison, “Okay!”

Since they were leaving early the next day, the four parted ways at the hotel that evening.

They waved goodbye to each other.

Each went home for a good night’s rest to kick off their week-long trip.

On the surface, it was just a trip, but the three young girls each had their own hidden motives. Han Wenwen wanted to investigate why her skin had improved and try something else with Lin Zheng Ran to figure it out.

Lily couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss from last week at the hotel. She’d been dreaming about it and really wanted to get close to Zheng Ran again. She planned to claim his first time on this trip.

Heqing’s feelings for Lin Zheng Ran were a bit simpler; she just wanted to spend as much time with him as possible.

Still, one big thing weighed on her mind: Was Wenwen secretly in love with Lin Zheng Ran?

She aimed to sort that out during the trip.

With their own thoughts in mind, after a night of rest,

As the sun rose the next morning, Lin Zheng Ran stood at the window, frozen in place.

Dark clouds blanketed the sky, blocking the usual bright sunlight and leaving the room dim.

It hadn’t rained much for over a month, yet here it was pouring today…

The steady drizzle tapped against the window, hinting that this trip might turn out more complicated than expected.

But that didn’t stop them. Lin Zheng Ran grabbed his suitcase and stepped out.

“Mom and Dad, I’m heading out on a trip with Heqing, Lily, and Wenwen. We’ll be gone for about a week or more.”

His parents saw him off at the door, “Alright, you four stay safe. Call us when you get there.”

Lin Ying Jun glanced at the overcast sky, “The weather’s not great today, so take it slow on the road.”

Lin Zheng Ran smiled, “Don’t worry, a little rain won’t hold us back.” Then he remembered something, “Oh, right, Mom, when are you going for that company interview?”

Lin Xiao Li didn’t think much of the question, “I’ve got some experience, but I need to brush up on this area. I’ll probably study at home for a week or so. I can go after you get back.”

Lin Zheng Ran acknowledged it and left.

He met the three with their umbrellas at the hotel entrance.

Even with the gloomy weather, Heqing, Han Wenwen, and Lily looked stunning in their new outfits.

    They were strikingly beautiful.

Lily held her umbrella, puzzled, “It’s raining today? The forecast didn’t say anything about it.”

Heqing asked, “Will the scenic area still be open?”

Han Wenwen checked her phone for the updated forecast, “It shows the next three days will be bad weather, with sun only after that.”

    Lin Zheng Ran explained,

“Don’t worry, the place we’re going isn’t a big tourist spot—it’s always open. I was planning for us to take a bus, but with the rain, that could get messy.

How about we rent a car instead? We can get an SUV for a road trip—I’ll drive you all.”

The three were surprised and spoke at once, “You’ll drive us?”

Lily quickly objected, “Renting a car might not be a good idea, Zheng Ran. You don’t have a license, right? If we get caught, it’ll be trouble!”

    Heqing agreed, “Yeah, that’s illegal.”

Lin Zheng Ran pulled his driver’s license from his pocket, “Who said I don’t have one? Here it is. I always carry it when I go out.”

    The three stared in shock.

Han Wenwen was the most baffled—she’d spent a lot of time with Lin Zheng Ran secretly but had no idea about this. She took the license and examined it.

“Is this real? When did you get your license, Lin Zheng Ran? I had no clue!”

Lily and Heqing eyed the license, confused too.

Lily asked, “Yeah, when did you learn to drive? I heard from classmates that it takes forever—booking tests, practicing, and all.”

Lin Zheng Ran thought to himself that in his past life he already knew how to drive, and with the system’s help in this one, it was a breeze.

Lin Zheng Ran said, “I signed up early. The driving school coach kept booking slots for me, and I passed every test easily. So, I got it without much hassle—you three just didn’t know.”

    Han Wenwen wondered, “That simple?”

Lily looked at him and sighed, “Well, that’s Zheng Ran for you. Nothing’s too tough for him.”

Heqing suddenly got excited about the idea of driving themselves.

It gave her a warm, family outing vibe—something she’d always wanted, having grown up without much time with her dad.

She clenched her little fist, eyes sparkling, “So, that means we can drive there? We won’t have to rush on someone else’s schedule! We can go wherever we want!”

Lin Zheng Ran smiled, “Plus, we can enjoy the rainy views. It’s all about comfort on a trip like this.”

Lily noticed how happy Heqing looked.

With that decided, the three took a cab to the rental place, where Lin Zheng Ran got a nice SUV.

A Land Cruiser—it had plenty of space for the three young girls to mess around in.

They loaded the suitcases, and the four officially set off on their adventure.
