Chapter 256: Shattered Boundaries
by xennovelChapter 256: Do You Have to Be Like This**
Her gaze shifted away from the other five women.
Xiao Yu stepped past them and a corpse.
Suddenly.
A woman bent down, ready to pick up the gun her companion had dropped.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Blood splattered from her body as she was beaten into a human-shaped swarm, like a wasp nest.
Special forces and National Security personnel burst onto the scene!
Without looking back, Xiao Yu strode across the room and opened a door…
Inside lay an enormous chamber, larger than anyone could imagine.
Spanning at least a thousand square meters, it featured a training ground, assorted exercise equipment, rows of steel-framed beds, lathes, chemical barrels… and a huddle of people crammed into the corners like quail.
Xiao Yu’s eyes locked onto a man in the crowd—a man clutching a bomb and smiling at him.
The man, in his forties, had a gaunt face with weathered, tanned skin and a completely bald head. His piercing gaze declared that 713 had seen its share of bloodshed.
The bomb he held was huge—one detonation would obliterate anything within a hundred meters!
“I can’t figure it out. How did you find us?”
The man asked softly, his tone laced with curiosity as he regarded Xiao Yu calmly.
“Where there’s a trace, no case remains unsolvable,” Xiao Yu replied evenly.
His tone was equally calm.
“So… the police?!”
The man’s brows twitched in reluctant disbelief.
It wasn’t that he despised the police.
In his mind, the police were merely ordinary people—hardly worthy of challenging him.
His true adversaries were soldiers or even more formidable forces—perhaps an entire nation.
How could it possibly be the police?
“Surrender,” he ordered.
Xiao Yu replied coldly, “We’re all doomed anyway. Why drag innocent people to their deaths?”
“That’s the first time I’ve heard someone advise surrender!”
The man laughed. “If we’re all finished, why not bring a few more along? If I’m no good, then neither are they!”
“Sounds strangely logical,” Xiao Yu remarked.
He nodded and stared into the man’s eyes. “But tell me—what exactly are you? Do you really think you can lecture me on morality?”
“This is my territory,” the man replied.
He chuckled and met Xiao Yu’s unwavering gaze. “So, you think I deserve that?”
“Hah…”
Xiao Yu laughed. “Just you alone?”
“Exactly,” he affirmed.
The man nodded slowly. “Just me…”
Bang… Gunfire exploded.
The man’s face registered shock as he slumped to the ground.
“I can’t stand your show-offs—completely devoid of any real skill,” Xiao Yu sneered.
Lowering his gun, he eyed the dying man on the floor and taunted, “Carrying a bomb that can’t even be detonated—are you trying to scare your old man?”
“It can’t be detonated?”
Exactly!
Using his Bomb Disposal Expert skills, Xiao Yu had observed the bomb for a full minute.
It was confirmed to be a dud.
In other words, his opponent was holding a worthless bomb just to intimidate me?
At his words, the man’s eyes widened with disbelief, his expression shifting to pure defeat as his breath faded away!
Shifting his gaze from the man’s corpse, Xiao Yu’s look was akin to someone stepping in dog crap on the street—uttering a quiet, “Damn…” before walking off in disgust.
Step by step, Xiao Yu approached the body, his eyes settling on the group huddled in the corner, too frightened to utter a sound.
There were twelve in all—eight women and four men.
Their expressions revealed each one to be a victim.
Just like Shu Yuzhen back in the day.
They had all been deceived into coming here to undergo Terrorist Cell training.
Left unrescued, they would soon become victims of the Terrorist Cells.
Scanning their faces, Xiao Yu’s gaze finally landed on that of a woman.
In her forties, she possessed a pleasant face—a middle-aged beauty.
Her expression was one of panic, her eyes shimmering with terror—a pitiful sight.
Bang!
Xiao Yu’s foot came down on the middle-aged woman’s face, pinning her to the ground.
Bang! Bang!
Two shots shattered her wrist.
He grabbed her by the neck, dragging her out of the group and throwing her to the floor.
The woman trembled in pain, her body twisting in agony.
Yet she emitted no pained screams.
The look of helplessness on her face was replaced by a venomous glare as she roared like a vengeful spirit, “Impossible! How did you know?”
“Because of the smell!”
She reeked of recently eaten lobster, snails, sweet and sour pork, and shredded Beijing sauce pork!
Such aromas could only cling to a group of detained and trained individuals.
In a place like this, who would have access to lobster or snails?
Even among Terrorist Cells, ordinary people wouldn’t normally eat such luxuries.
Clearly, her status—even within the Terrorist Cells—was far from low!
“Take a guess,”
Xiao Yu’s voice turned icy as he glared at her.
“I’ll tell you in your next life,” he added.
Of course…
“You’d better seize the chance to redeem yourself if you want to live!”
Bang! Bang!
Two more shots rang out.
In the chaos, two men who had leapt up were instantly killed by Xiao Yu.
Another man tried to flee.
Boom!
The skylight in the vast room exploded.
A horrific gash, as big as a soccer ball, tore across the man’s chest.
A sniper rifle!
Another man immediately hit the ground, terror-stricken, nearly losing control of himself.
A mocking smile tugged at Xiao Yu’s lips.
Even the Terrorist Cells feared death, huh?!
……
Outside the Factory.
A group of Armed Police, special forces, and National Security personnel escorted a crowd of detainees out of the facility.
Xiao Yu, Wang Dong, and the Special Forces Captain sat on the ground—one of them with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, exhaling thick smoke.
They had just raided an entire terrorist hideout.
There was still a lot of work left.
But that was National Security’s problem, not Xiao Yu’s.
“Get me the intel I need,”
Xiao Yu blew out a smoke ring.
“Mm,”
Wang Dong nodded while puffing on his cigarette.
He knew exactly what the little guy wanted.
Who ordered these Terrorist Cells to rob the S Bank, distract the police, kill two officers, and steal the Fake Currency Circuit Board…
Though not as significant as a full-scale terror purge, this case was still Xiao Yu’s main job.
While the terror purge was for eliminating the Terrorist Cells, the little guy was merely… working part-time!
“Who exactly are you?”
The Special Forces Captain crushed his cigarette and glared at Xiao Yu. “Just an ordinary guy. Not everyone can pull off a 4.4 sniper shot!”
That much was certain.
Forget ordinary people—even special forces aren’t made of just anyone!
“Is it never-ending…?” Xiao Yu replied lazily.
“Don’t ask,”
Wang Dong murmured, “Six first-class merits and one first-class honor… He’s shrouded in secrets but will never stand against the nation. Besides, with the police and National Security backing him—and two Big Bosses at his back—just think of him as a monster. Damn, he’ll probably nab another first-class merit this time!”
Staring at Xiao Yu, who wore a perpetual grin as he smoked, the Special Forces Captain’s expression subtly shifted.
Overwhelmed by revelations, his mind was flooded with questions.
“A monster? Protected by two Big Bosses?”
Damn, does it have to be this extreme?!
Though his face remained calm, inside Xiao Yu seethed with silent questions toward Wang Dong.
“You just sold me out right before my eyes?”
Trust between people had suddenly disintegrated!
