Chapter 260: Whispers Under the Moon
by xennovelLin Zheng Ran carried Lily back to the hotel room.
He knocked on the door.
Han Wenwen and Heqing, sitting at the edge of the bed and chatting, heard the sound. Han Wenwen called out, “Who’s there?”
Lin Zheng Ran replied, “It’s me.”
Heqing perked up with delight at the sound of his voice and said, “Lin Zheng Ran is back! I’ll get the door.” She quickly hopped off the bed and headed to the entrance.
“I’ll get it.”
She opened the door to see Lin Zheng Ran walking in with Lily in his arms, and for a moment, her gaze flickered with emotion—after all, he’d carried her back the same way that afternoon.
Could it be…
But soon, she noticed Lily’s slightly red eyes, as if she’d been crying for quite a while.
Heqing felt surprised, yet realized nothing like that had happened.
Thinking about it, that afternoon had lasted over three hours.
She and Zheng Ran had shared several intimate moments…
It couldn’t have been that again after just a few hours—surely not multiple times.
From what she’d read in books, only girls could indulge like that without a second thought.
Guys couldn’t go on endlessly.
“Lin Zheng Ran, you’re back. What’s up with Lily?”
Lin Zheng Ran didn’t hide anything—her red eyes were obvious anyway. He said, “She walked around with me on the streets for a while and then cried for a bit. She’s just exhausted.”
“She cried?” Heqing stared at the soundly sleeping Lily.
Han Wenwen came over too: “Lily cried?”
Lin Zheng Ran chuckled, “That’s just her way. It’s nothing. I’ve calmed her down, so you two don’t need to worry. A good sleep will fix it.”
Both women nodded in agreement.
Still, Han Wenwen wondered curiously why Lily was so jealous today and what had happened that afternoon.
Lin Zheng Ran looked at Heqing and Han Wenwen, especially noticing Heqing’s eyes with a faint redness.
“Did you cry too?”
Heqing let out a soft “Ah” and rubbed her eyes innocently. “No, right?” She asked Han Wenwen, “I didn’t cry, did I?”
Han Wenwen smiled warmly, “You did, at the start of our chat.”
Heqing realized it was true, but quickly waved it off to Lin Zheng Ran, not wanting him to misunderstand:
“It’s got nothing to do with Han Wenwen! It just happened on its own. Lin Zheng Ran, don’t worry—we didn’t fight. We’re still best friends!”
Han Wenwen added with a smile, “Brother Zheng Ran, don’t worry. We’ve talked it out. Tomorrow, when Lily wakes up, I’ll chat with her too.”
From their expressions, Lin Zheng Ran could tell the conversation had gone well.
He stepped over to Han Wenwen and gently stroked her head. She nuzzled against his hand affectionately.
He said in a fond tone, “It was bound to come out eventually?”
Han Wenwen bit her lip, looking a bit embarrassed.
Heqing had never seen this loving gesture before.
She thought, So Lin Zheng Ran strokes Han Wenwen’s head like that? And Han Wenwen’s so good at being playful, rubbing her face against his hand like a little fox.
Han Wenwen’s really skilled at this…
Jealousy and shyness washed over Heqing, and she didn’t want to watch anymore.
Until Lin Zheng Ran turned and stroked her head too, easing the envy in her heart.
Lin Zheng Ran said, “Alright, it’s getting late—almost midnight. Let’s rest. I was thinking of a morning picnic, but with things as they are, we’ll probably head out around noon. You three sleep in, and we’ll leave then.”
Heqing and Han Wenwen nodded.
The room fell into a quiet hush as they all gazed at Lin Zheng Ran.
Suddenly, an idea struck Lin Zheng Ran, a perfect way to wrap up tonight’s events.
“I’ve got a thought. How about you two join me in bed tonight?”
“Ah?” Both women echoed, “Join you in bed?”
Heqing’s face turned bright red.
Even the little fox, Han Wenwen, felt unusually shy, wondering what Brother Zheng Ran meant—was it just sleeping or something more?
Lin Zheng Ran asked, puzzled, “What, you don’t want to?”
Heqing stammered shyly, her voice soft and hesitant, head down with ears flushing red: “N-no, it’s not that I don’t want to, but… how would three people sleep?”
“One on each side, with me holding you both. You’re both my girlfriends, so it’s a good way to end today. We’ll rest well and hit the barbecue and mountains tomorrow.”
Hearing that, Han Wenwen relaxed, realizing she’d overthought it and nearly scared herself.
So, Han Wenwen and Heqing exchanged a quick glance, sharing a silent understanding as best friends.
Blushing, they both nodded.
Lin Zheng Ran saw they agreed and said, “Go on in then. I’ve been out wandering, so I’m a bit dirty. I’ll shower and join you in the bedroom.”
“Okay.” They nodded together.
With that, Lin Zheng Ran headed to the restroom and swiftly turned on the hot water for a bath.
He asked Han Wenwen to grab his pajamas.
Han Wenwen fetched the pajamas from the bedroom and handed them over. Then, she and Heqing shared an embarrassed smile. Heqing whispered, “I should change too—I didn’t get to after my nap this afternoon. Han Wenwen, you go in first.”
“I’ll wait for you. I want to change as well. Let’s go in together.”
“That works.”
Heqing sat on the bed, pulling a pink cartoon pajama from her suitcase. She changed with her back to Han Wenwen.
Because after being intimate with Lin Zheng Ran that afternoon, Heqing hadn’t showered…
As she swapped her underwear, she glanced at her legs.
She noticed her skin was surprisingly clean, smooth, and fragrant after their time together.
She remembered sweating a bit, but maybe it was just her imagination?
Once she was dressed, Han Wenwen was ready too.
The two friends linked hands and stepped into Lin Zheng Ran’s bedroom.
Lin Zheng Ran’s shower took just over ten minutes. He came out in his pajamas, hair dried, from the bathroom.
In his bedroom, he saw Han Wenwen and Heqing already snuggled under the covers.
He glanced at the deeply asleep Lily, her golden twin tails making her look especially peaceful.
He turned off the lights in both rooms and slipped into bed.
Soft moonlight filtered through the slight gap in the curtains, casting a gentle glow on the bed.
Lin Zheng Ran lay in the middle, his left arm around Han Wenwen and his right around Heqing.
Both women lay angled against him.
Their faces rested on his chest.
With occasional eye contact, Heqing and Han Wenwen felt too shy to speak.
This was a first for both of them, being held like this.
Lin Zheng Ran breathed in the unique scents from each woman, finding it quite comforting as he held them:
“You two are good now, right? If so, let’s sleep?”
“Mm.” They both responded.
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Brother Zheng Ran…”
“Goodnight, Lin Zheng Ran.”
The rest of the night passed quicker than expected.
The three little ones slept soundly.
What Lin Zheng Ran didn’t know was that Han Wenwen and Heqing planned to have a small sisterly chat with Lily tomorrow.
The topic, of course, would be about Lin Zheng Ran.
