Chapter 275: Genetic Currency
by xennovelDream Technology operates as an enterprise, hence it follows market laws. As the global populace has a need to escape calamities, offering construction and transportation services is an appropriate response. This way, Dream Technology avoids suspicions of conspiracies or traps from other nations.
The crucial concern Du Qiu pondered—which Phileas had previously articulated—was that in the interstellar age, with Dream Technology’s mining capabilities, which resources would be lacking? So then, what currency would nations and powers use to trade for Dream Technology’s goods and services?
Gold and jewels, certainly outdated. Prospectors had already relayed the resource situation in the asteroid belt, including asteroids abundantly rich in gold and diamonds, by the thousands of tons, no less, with convenient mining prospects.
Knowing these materials’ diminished value, Du Qiu still directed the mining robots to extract and store them upon the transport ships’ arrival. In fact, Dream Technology, not wanting for money, had previously located several mines of gold, silver, and diamonds during submarine mining ventures.
The matter of currency for this interstellar age caused Du Qiu much contemplation, but recent days parsing the database of the Heavenly Garden’s supercomputer brought him to an idea. The database detailed how the Pleiadians had meticulously recorded their interference and modification of hominid genes over a million years.
Although Du Qiu wasn’t well-versed in the technical details, he had begun to grasp the essence. Yet, no record explained why the Pleiadians had spent so much time on Earth, using gene modification and natural evolutionary patterns on ancient hominids to develop humans.
This didn’t stop Du Qiu from identifying something core within these actions. He could only surmise that the Pleiadians were investigating an optimal gene through their interventions in human evolution. The exact nature and effects of the optimal gene were not documented; perhaps not even the Pleiadians knew, hence the prolonged experiment.
Biotechnologically, the Pleiadians could have quickly altered the ancient hominid or subsequent Homos’ genes to produce sapiens or even modern humans within a brief span. They opted instead for patient natural evolution, only intervening when it strayed too far off course.
The greatest of these interventions was the creation of Homo sapiens, explaining why modern biologists can’t find transitional fossils between erect hominids and sapiens.
Uncomfortably aware of being a Pleiadian experiment, Du Qiu now considered employing some biotechnology combined with blockchain and quantum encryption technologies to introduce a novel concept: genetic currency.
Each person’s genes are unique. To find the optimal gene, a vast sample pool is necessary. In the interstellar age, the population becomes the most significant resource.
Du Qiu once thought scientific team numbers were vital for continuous civilization advancement, attributing breakthroughs in science and technology to vast pools of researchers, leading to civilization’s technological elevation.
Presently, influenced by the Pleiadians’ terrestrial endeavors, Du Qiu speculated that a massive proliferation and maximization of genes might also yield an optimized gene.
Pleiadian biotechnology could already clone their kind; however, certain database segments hinted that clones might possess some genetic defects, explaining the Pleiadians’ reluctance to use cloning to increase their population massively.
In fact, Du Qiu had previously instituted the Clone Program K with Sagami Pharmaceutical Institute’s Murato Otokonoko, a continuation of similar research that had made considerable progress.
With similar research equipment in the Heavenly Garden and technical data in the supercomputer database, K Project could accelerate significantly, leading to phase achievements.
After all, Pleiadians had successfully cloned erect hominids and sapiens here. With these materials plus Dream Technology’s existing research, their biological research institutes would lead Earth in the genetic sector.
Implementing Du Qiu’s vision of genetic currency could replace all existing forms of human monetary systems.

“Sir, we’ve just received a ciphered message from our ambassador in the Tanga Federation,” said an aide to the Prime Minister.
Lifting his head, bloodshot eyes landing on Mizukawa Kazuhide, the Prime Minister inquired, “What urgent matter does he have to report?”
Mizukawa spoke, “He says he met with Mr. Han Guoqiang, the head of the Geological Research Institute of Dream Technology. He was given urgent news. Consistent with Professor Hiroji Iwata’s evaluation, the Japanese archipelago will sink into the ocean in about 50 days.”
The Prime Minister’s face fell, “Dream Technology hasn’t posted this on their website directly?”
Mizukawa nodded, “Fortunately, they didn’t release it as they did with the information about Central America’s sinking. Otherwise, our country would be in utter chaos.”
As the Prime Minister paced the room, he pondered, “Has any Cabinet member met with other heads of state to convey our plea for help?”
The emergency Cabinet meeting had been convened right after the Osaka earthquake, bolstering Professor Iwata’s credibility. To prevent leaks, all Cabinet members were immediatly dispatched to other nations with pleas for assistance. With the warning from Dream Technology aligning with Iwata’s shortest time-frame estimate, the ultimate nightmare for the Yamato nation seemed imminent.
Mizukawa hesitated, then said, “So far, Tang, the United States, Assan, Kangaroo, and Maple countries have all received our plea. However, there are no direct responses yet; they’ve said they will consider and respond after review.”
Ceasing his walk, the Prime Minister looked at Mizukawa, “We can’t wait any longer. There are only 48 days left. Even if these nations agree to accept our refugees, relocating our populace in such a short time will be difficult. We can’t let their meetings and deliberations waste our valuable time. Some might even suspect this is a hoax, imagining we have some ulterior motive.”
Mizukawa asked, “What do you propose, sir?”
“Prepare a statement. At noon, I will address the nation and world by television, announcing the imminent sinking of Japan. I will appeal to all nations to extend a humanitarian helping hand and accept Japanese refugees.”
Mizukawa gasped, “If we do that, the people will panic. How can we ensure an orderly evacuation amidst national disorder?”
“Better the news comes from me than leaks, prompting people to distrust the government and chaos to ensue,” the Prime Minister reasoned. “I can urge compliance with government directives for immigration registration, facilitating an orderly departure.”
A note of thanks to “Xiaoyao Hengdao” and “Qin Ying” for their generous tip of 100 coins!
