Chapter Index

Lin Zheng Ran hailed a taxi and flipped through the latest news on Zheng Shi Company during the ride.

It had been about ten days since Jiang Jingshi was discharged from the hospital.

The buzz around ‘The Angel’—Jiang Jingshi—showed no signs of fading.

Random posts revealed a flood of amazed comments.

“This story’s all over the net—it’s huge! If it’s true, that’s just mind-blowing,” Netizen A said.

“Boss Jiang from Zheng Shi Company is stunning! I saw her once, and her skin and vibe are incredible. Calling her an angel is spot on. Believe me or not, I do,” Netizen B chimed in.

“I’ve heard Zheng Shi Company’s been swamped with job applications lately. Sounds like a great place—I might apply just to work under that angel! L(‘ω’)┘三└(‘ω’)” Netizen C added.

“Healing incurable diseases is insane. Does this angel have a boyfriend? What would he be like? I’m so jealous of anyone with her,” Netizen D wondered.

The comments varied wildly, but Lin Zheng Ran just skimmed a few before moving on.

Though he hadn’t checked the financial reports closely lately, the hype suggested a big positive impact.

[After returning from Summer Resort Villa with Fairy He, Miss Jiang, and the Demonic Cult Enchantress, you learned that Fairy He’s sect elder had a chronic illness and used an alchemy pill to restore them.]

[Once the sect elder was healed, they praised you highly and offered to host you at the sect next time with full hospitality.]

[Meanwhile, the Empress of the Imperial City saw a massive boost in her cultivation after you left. She not only recovered to her peak strength under your care but has advanced even further lately.]

[Thanks to these two adventures and the contract feedback, your spiritual energy level has increased by one again.]

[Your current spiritual energy level is seventy-three.]

Lin Zheng Ran felt the subtle upgrades from the level boost and wondered why it happened so quickly this time.

He had just leveled up twice at Lin Mountain, and now it was only days later.

Based on the system’s pattern, levels should get harder to gain as you progress.

Maybe it was because of the contract with Jingshi?

After all, any improvement in someone he’s contracted with gives him triple the feedback, which makes sense.

Compared to those three who just fool around with him all day, Jingshi has been steadily cultivating in this world.

The taxi soon pulled up at the Zheng Shi Company building.

Gazing at the seven-story structure in front of him.

Lin Zheng Ran mused that he didn’t visit this place often enough.

The security guards at the entrance finally recognized him this time.

The ones on duty stood straight, and even those inside the booth hurried out.

The young guard named Jiang Ming even greeted him proactively: “Hello, Mr. Lin!”

Lin Zheng Ran smiled and replied, “Good morning,” as he passed by.

Once Lin Zheng Ran was out of sight, a guard in the booth whispered, “That startled me—why’s Mr. Lin here alone? Didn’t Pan Jie come down to meet him?”

Jiang Ming said, “Should we tell Pan Jie? It doesn’t feel right letting him go up by himself.”

Another guard replied, “Nah, let’s not meddle. Boss stuff isn’t our business. Besides, I hear Boss Jiang is in a foul mood today—Mr. Lin’s probably here about that. Apparently, one of our department heads made a big mistake.”

Lin Zheng Ran hadn’t told anyone he was coming this time.

He entered the building alone and was about to hit the button for the seventh-floor office in the elevator when his sharp ears caught something.

Instead, he pressed for the third floor.

The third floor of Zheng Shi Company housed two large conference rooms—one upscale for executives and the other big enough for all staff.

He followed the sound to the executive conference room and peered through the blinds at the figures inside.

All the top executives sat with notebooks and pens, heads down in silence.

Jiang Jingshi, who was always gentle around Lin Zheng Ran, now looked stern with perfect posture, her long hair cascading as her eyes flashed with intensity.

Lin Zheng Ran had never seen her this intimidating before.

Her voice, though not loud, carried a sharp edge: “What’s going on with this mess? How could such a major work error get sent to the client? Have you thought about the consequences?”

The expression on her face was so fierce that it made Lin Zheng Ran blink in surprise.

Her secretary, Pan Lin, stood behind her, trembling as she jotted down notes.

Sweat seemed to bead on her forehead.

Lin Zheng Ran lingered outside the conference room until he heard Jiang Jingshi lean back and say, “Pan Lin, get me a glass of water.”

Pan Lin froze for a second before replying, “Right away, Boss Jiang!”

She grabbed the cup and stepped out, only to spot Lin Zheng Ran and light up like she’d seen a savior. In a low voice, she said, “Mr. Lin? What brings you here?”

Lin Zheng Ran nodded with a smile.

    “What’s happening?”

Pan Lin glanced back at the room and whispered, “One of the department heads accidentally sent a client’s internal files to another client, and it’s got Boss Jiang furious. The whole office is on edge—no one’s speaking above a whisper.”

Lin Zheng Ran asked, “Is it sorted out?”

Pan Lin answered, “We’re working on it. Boss Jiang’s already set up compensation for the affected company—it should resolve soon.”

Lin Zheng Ran hummed in acknowledgment and glanced back at Jiang Jingshi, who looked as serious as ever in the room, the atmosphere heavy like everyone carried a weight.

Curious, he asked, “Is Jingshi usually this tough?”

Pan Lin chuckled softly, careful not to speak ill: “Well, not exactly tough, but she’s always serious about business. People outside say she’s gentle, but that’s just the public view.”

She added, “Of course, she’s different with you. I haven’t seen her lose her temper when you’re around.”

Lin Zheng Ran recalled moments at the pet store where staff errors happened, but Jiang Jingshi had held back because he was there.

It seemed years in the corporate world had given Jingshi quite the edge.

“Pan Lin? Not ready yet?” Jiang Jingshi called out suddenly from inside.

It startled Pan Lin, making her jump as she replied, “Just a second! Hold on!”

Jiang Jingshi turned, wondering why getting water was taking so long, and spotted a figure outside. She froze in surprise, then quickly stood and headed to the door, half-doubting.

Seeing the man outside, her stern demeanor melted away.

A flush colored her cheeks, and her gentle eyes sparkled as she softened her voice like a kitten: “Zheng Ran… you’re back?”

Pan Lin watched in awe—sure enough, with Mr. Lin here, things were looking up. Boss Jiang was incredibly gentle around him.

Boss Jiang really transformed in front of Mr. Lin.
