Chapter 321: A Slight Grasp of the Divine

    Bang, bang, bang…

Xiao Yu gently knocked on the door.

    “Who’s there?”

A woman’s voice responded from inside.

    “Hello, I’m a police officer.”

Silence fell from within the room.

After a moment, the door opened. An older woman glared at Xiao Yu warily, asking, “What’s the matter?”

    “Two things.”

Maintaining a calm expression, Xiao Yu said, “First, why didn’t you call the police? And second, don’t you want to catch that scumbag?”

The older woman’s expression instantly shifted.

It was a mix of panic, anger, and pain.

    She was a mother.

Seeing her daughter’s horrendous state had torn her apart with grief.

Yet her daughter had stopped them from calling the police by threatening suicide.

In the end, she and her husband chose silence.

“Zero Two Three”—after a few days of nursing her injuries in the hospital, they brought her home at her request.

The panic came from not knowing how the police got wind of the news.

The anger, naturally, was directed at the bastard who had tormented her daughter.

And the pain… was because of what her daughter had become.

    “You should leave now!”

The older woman shook her head, tears welling up. “My daughter can’t bear to see you. Her mind is shattered. Besides me and her father, she’s terrified of everyone!”

    Mental illness?

    Xiao Yu sighed inwardly.

Yes, it was clear she had suffered immense psychological trauma.

According to the hospital records uncovered by Guo Qiang’s investigation,

she had a torn lower body, multiple severe soft tissue injuries, and a patch of missing skin on her back…

The hospital could only make a rough assessment of her wounds before beginning treatment.

Not being professional forensic experts, they couldn’t conduct a detailed examination of the crime-inflicted injuries.

    But one thing was certain.

The patch of missing skin on her back had been viciously sliced away by a weapon.

It left behind a bloodied, flesh-cross imprint!

This was reminiscent of the serial sexual assault and injury case from five years ago.

    The method was identical!

Without the victim’s testimony, however, the case couldn’t proceed.

“I have a friend who is a professional psychologist.”

Thinking quickly, Xiao Yu smiled and said, “Her skills are excellent—she should be able to assess your daughter’s mental state. If your daughter continues on this path, her psychological issues could worsen and lead to disaster.”

He wasn’t trying to intimidate her; he was stating the facts.

Judging by the look on the older woman’s face, it was evident that the victim had likely done something… to herself.

    “This…”

The older woman hesitated before nodding slightly.

“Please wait a moment while I call my friend over.”

Xiao Yu went downstairs and pulled out his phone to make a call.

He dialed the number of forensic doctor He Li.

“What? You want me to pretend to be a psychologist?”

He Li’s confused voice came through the phone, “Stop joking—I’m a forensic doctor.”

“He Jie, it’s fine. Just pose as a psychologist when you get here; I’ll handle the rest.”

Xiao Yu chuckled, “I’m calling you over to help examine the victim’s injuries.”

    “Now I get it.”

He Li grasped the situation immediately, “But what if we get exposed? I really don’t know anything about psychology.”

“Well… I do!” Xiao Yu replied with a smile.

    He Li: “…”

Does this little brother really know psychology?

Half an hour later, with a puzzled expression, He Li arrived and asked, “You do know psychology?”

    She was genuinely curious.

He Li knew that Xiao Yu wasn’t just skilled at investigations—he was also a master of forensic methods.

In the past, He Li had been very proud of her autopsy skills.

But ever since meeting Xiao Yu, that pride had faded.

There were even times when this little brother had humbled her.

And now you’re telling me you know psychology?

“Must you be such a genius?”

“Were you sent here just to put us down?”

Xiao Yu didn’t mean to put He Li down; he humbly replied, “I have a basic understanding.”

“Basic understanding…” He Li looked strangely, assuming he only knew a little.

But… if she knew the truth.

Once, a renowned psychologist had been pinned to the ground and humiliated by this little brother.

She would have lost it completely, shouting, “Goddamn it, you only know the basics!”

They then returned once more to the victim’s home…

When the older woman saw He Li in her white lab coat,

she mistakenly thought He Li was a renowned psychologist.

The group reached the door of a bedroom.

The older woman knocked, “Hello? Open up—Mom brought a friend to see you.”

    “I don’t want to see anyone—just go, everyone leave…”

Suddenly, the quiet bedroom erupted with screams.

“Huh? That sound… it’s oddly weak. Why does it sound that way?” Xiao Yu frowned.

    Activating Wangdie’s Nose, Wax Moth’s Ear, and Python’s Sense…

In an instant, Xiao Yu’s face turned pale.

He detected a strong scent of blood.

Unleashing Bear Force, Xiao Yu backed up into a half-crouch before charging forward under the shocked gazes of the older woman and He Li.

    Boom!

The door was forcefully shattered, splintered wood flying everywhere.

Bursting into the room, Xiao Yu’s eyes landed on a bed.

There, he saw a woman with blood streaming from her wrist.

“Damn…!” Xiao Yu shouted, “He Jie, help her!”

He Li snapped back to attention and rushed in.

Seeing the woman’s wrist, her expression shifted. She dashed forward and gripped the wrist tightly.

“What are you doing? Get away—all of you, leave!”

The weak woman began screaming and thrashing wildly.

    Smack!

Xiao Yu’s palm struck the area around the woman’s jaw and just behind her ear.

With one hit, the woman blacked out.

He Li gently pinched the woman’s skin, leaned close to listen for a heartbeat, and checked her pulse by gripping her wrist. After a few seconds, she said to Xiao Yu, “She’s lost too much blood. We need to get her to the hospital!”

    “Got it!”

Gripping the woman’s injured wrist firmly, Xiao Yu used his other hand to hoist her onto his back.

Glancing at the old woman, who trembled with tears, he comforted her, “It’s okay. Let’s get her to the hospital first.”

With swift strides, Xiao Yu dashed out of the room and raced down the stairs…
