Chapter Index

Du Qiu nodded slightly and said, “It’s somewhat connected, though not directly. I believe that with our current technological foundation, we should see a breakthrough within the next five years.”

Noticing Chen Guangnan poised to speak, Du Qiu reached out to stop him, then continued, “I’m not saying this to show any disrespect to the laws of scientific progress.”

“I simply want to expedite our work. Feel free to make any requests—as long as we complete the Unified Theory sooner, Dream Technology can step into the realm of a Level Four civilization.”

“Once we reach Level Four, many technologies will truly take off.”

Chen Guangnan, a scientist of Tang descent formerly working in the United States, had planned to return to China to reclaim his nationality once relations between the two soured.

However, Dream Technology recruited him to their research center, enticing him with Du Qiu’s promise of full support for researching the Unified Theory.

Over the past two years, his team has continuously expanded, with sub-projects branching out and consuming astronomical amounts of resources.

They even exchanged some of their technology with Europe so that his team could use European particle accelerators.

“Boss, I understand your point. So, here’s my request: I need to build a gigantic particle accelerator orbiting the sun. Can you approve that?”

Du Qiu’s eyes lit up as he asked, “With that giant accelerator, won’t we be able to detect the particles needed to unravel the mystery of the graviton in the Unified Theory?”

Director Chen Guangnan nodded, “I’m 80% sure that with this accelerator, we can discover the essence of matter and deduce the formula for the Unified Theory.”

“Even if we fail, the advancements in particle physics alone would be monumental.”

Director Hogan smiled warmly, “This is nothing short of a cutting-edge tool in scientific research. We once wanted China to build a large particle accelerator that would cost over a hundred billion dollars.”

“Now, this gigantic sun-orbiting particle accelerator might cost at least ten times that. Boss, if you’re truly willing to invest, it will mark a milestone in human technological progress.”

Director Best also nodded, “Boss, if you’re willing to invest in this project, I’ll put everything on the line to ensure we crack your spatial theory.”

All three directors are top experts in their fields and have all been awarded the Explosive Award.

Since being recruited by Dream Technology, they’ve lived up to expectations, leading their institutes to complete numerous research projects.

Du Qiu grinned and said, “Since you brought this up, I’ll eagerly await good news. Starting tomorrow, I’ll mobilize resources to design and build the sun-orbiting particle accelerator.”

“Additionally, I’ll upgrade the hardware of our AI, Star, so it can serve you even better.”

Director Chen Guangnan replied, “Excellent—upgrading Star will definitely boost our efficiency.”

After Du Qiu’s holographic image disappeared from the Academy of Science conference room in the Heaven Realm, Chen Guangnan suddenly mused, “Have we been played by the boss? I don’t see him worrying about the expenses at all.”

Director Best stroked his large beard and chuckled, “With Dream Technology now owning the entire Solar System, resources are no longer a bottleneck.”

“With that many resources, building a sun-orbiting particle accelerator isn’t such a tall order. I’ll arrange for teams to calculate the optimal orbit around the sun as soon as possible.”

    Rus Country, Kremlin.

Air and Space Command General Chenofsky reported, “Mr. President, we’ve detected eight Dream Technology warships assembling near the Heaven Realm Space City.”

He continued, “Yesterday at noon, they fired a beam from the Moon that struck an eight-kilometer-wide meteorite located 50 million kilometers away.”

The Emperor asked in astonishment, “Didn’t you say that Dream Technology’s space warships are usually cloaked? How can we suddenly observe them?”

“They must be doing this on purpose. Perhaps a major maneuver is in the works.”

After a moment’s thought, the Emperor shook his head and said, “They might be planning something, but it likely isn’t aimed at us. Keep a close watch—in case they’re staging a display, let’s see what unfolds.”

    “Understood.”

“By the way, when can our Moon Joint Base dispatch astronauts?”

Chenofsky replied, “Dream Technology has set the date for March 9. By then, our astronauts and scientists must reach the Tanga Federation to prepare for boarding their planetary bus.”

A glimmer of excitement appeared in the Emperor’s eyes as he said, “I’d love to see how their planetary bus actually launches into space.”

“Uh, should I ask Dream Technology to request your presence to see them off?”

“This time it’s a joint operation with China. Maybe the Chinese representative and I can go together to bid farewell to our heroes. Speak with their space bureau and have both sides submit the request to Dream Technology.”

Ever the doer, the Emperor was keen to attend such a grand event.

“Alright, I’ll discuss it with Director Zhang.”

“Indeed, Dream Technology is leaps and bounds ahead of us; they must have gotten their hands on some alien technology somehow. What a pity we didn’t think of that before.”

Chenofsky listened to the Emperor’s lament without daring to interrupt.

    India, Prime Minister’s Office.

    Hilmik was reporting to Morhan.

“ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organization, has confirmed that near Dream Technology’s Heaven Realm Space City, eight large warships have suddenly appeared. Each measures about 800 meters in length.”

Morhan paused, then said, “It seems Dream Technology’s cloaking technology is truly impressive. Who knows how many space warships they actually have?”

Having grown numb to Dream Technology’s constant stream of new tech, Morhan continued.

“At this point, I’m starting to believe in that great ice age Dream Technology predicted.”

After all, even Yellowstone in the United States erupted—proving that Earth’s crust is undergoing dramatic upheavals.

“In just a few months, the volcanic ash from Yellowstone has already spread across the globe.”

“Outside a narrow band near the Gulf of Mexico, almost all of the United States has been buried under scorching ash, wiping out all plant and animal life.”

“This year, the North American continent is likely to yield nothing.”

“What’s worse, the Yellowstone eruption hasn’t stopped. Ash in the atmosphere is steadily increasing, causing global temperatures to drop.”

“Morhan is now focusing much of his energy on excavation, aiming to build as many underground shelters as possible to save our citizens.”

“And as for the high-caste ruling elite, they will naturally relocate to the Mars cities sold by Dream Technology.”

“India is bleeding resources, having purchased five entire Mars cities to accommodate 2.5 million people.”

“Prime Minister, ISRO has also detected a brilliant beam emitted from the Moon by Dream Technology that struck an eight-kilometer-wide meteorite 50 million kilometers away.”

Morhan’s face hardened before he waved his hand and said, “Their technology is over a century ahead of us. Let’s make sure our business dealings with them are as smooth as possible.”

Seeing the fatigue and resignation on Morhan’s face, Hilmik decided not to press further and quietly left.

    Europe, Bari.

In Gaul, German Chancellor Karen was visiting President Hitke to discuss forming a European military coalition. At that moment, European Space Agency Director Sherman hurriedly handed a document to their secretaries.

As soon as they saw the document, their expressions changed dramatically.

They exchanged glances and immediately ordered their subordinates out of the meeting room.

Once only Karen and Hitke were left, Karen said, “Dream Technology suddenly unveiling eight space warships at this very moment…what could they be planning?”

“They even fired a laser from the Moon that can reach 50 million kilometers. Do you think it’s a warning?”

Karen shook his head, “No, we were just starting to discuss forming a coalition on paper. Even an informal alliance poses little threat to them, right?”

President Hitke hesitated, “The timing is… too coincidental.”

“With the collapse of the United States, only Germania and Gaul still have the strength to keep NATO running. But overall, the alliance is in shambles.”

“And Britain, long since having left the EU, is in chaos with American refugees overwhelming them.”

“Not surprisingly, these two countries have decided to form their own military coalition first, and once the core is established, they might invite others.”

“At that moment, Dream Technology suddenly deployed its space warships and conducted live-fire tests of its lunar defense system—a very clear warning indeed.”
