Chapter Index

Guo Liang stared at Xu Chen, still wide-eyed and speechless.

After a moment, Guo Liang opened the backpack behind him and pulled out two bottles of Shenbao.

“I brought these two for you, thinking you might want to try them out.”

“But now it seems… you probably don’t need them.”

Xu Chen gave an awkward smile:

“You’re too kind, General Manager Guo. My kidneys are fine.”

Guo Liang laughed: “A man’s kidneys can always be better!”

    Xu Chen: “……”

Chen Dahai, standing behind, glanced over and said:

“Hey, Young Master Xu, what’s that good stuff? Aren’t you going to share with the guys?”

Xu Chen felt a bit speechless but didn’t know how to explain.

Guo Liang, with his sales background, suddenly got excited and waved the two boxes of medicine.

“You guys might not need it, but your male elders probably do.”

“It’s a tonic for nourishing yin and tonifying kidneys—want to hear more?”

Chen Dahai and the others blinked, looking totally confused.

Xu Chen wore a helpless expression and managed an awkward smile.

Several hot dishes had already been served.

    Xu Chen half-joked:

“General Manager Guo, you haven’t eaten yet, right? Why not join us?”

He was just being polite, but Guo Liang smiled and said:

    “That sounds great—let’s combine tables!”

    Xu Chen: “……”

Xu Chen was still standing there, but Guo Liang had already grabbed a chair and sat down.

Without hesitation, he picked up a pair of chopsticks, only to notice seven or eight high school students staring at him.

    Guo Liang smiled and said:

    “Sorry, I’m really starving.”

    “This meal’s on me!”

As soon as Guo Liang finished, Chen Dahai and the others warmed up instantly, chatting and laughing with him.

“So, you’re Young Master Xu’s friend?”

“What’s this medicine? Give us the lowdown?”

“It’s for tonifying kidneys… This stuff’s great! We’re in our senior year, and our energy’s not what it used to be—might come in handy!”

“Does it get a discount with a student ID?”

Xu Chen looked on, completely baffled.

    ……

Guo Liang, true to his sales roots, quickly hit it off with the group of high school boys, acting like old buddies.

Beyond Shenbao, he pitched other products from their company, his sales talk smooth and captivating, leaving the high schoolers stunned.

After wolfing down half a bowl of rice, Guo Liang turned, opened his backpack, and handed Xu Chen a document.

“This authorization agreement needs your signature.”

“Once that’s done, I’ll have finance transfer the 150,000 yuan bonus to you this afternoon.”

Xu Chen set down his bowl and chopsticks, took the authorization agreement, and read it carefully.

Chen Dahai, nearby, blinked, sensing something big.

    “What?”

    “150,000 yuan? A bonus?”

The other boys instantly perked up at that.

Guo Liang paused, then smiled and leaned toward Xu Chen, whispering:

“Oops, sorry, Teacher Xiao Xu, I might have let that slip. Not sure if you want your friends to know.”

    Xu Chen: “……”

Chen Dahai and the others were hooked now, grilling Guo Liang until he explained.

Guo Liang chuckled and gave them the basic rundown.

Chen Dahai turned to Xu Chen, shaking his head:

“Young Master Xu, oh Young Master Xu… Who knew?”

“While we’re still asking our families for allowance, you’re already pulling in 150,000 yuan!”

“That’s enough for a house, right?”

“Even our school teachers don’t make that in a year.”

    “That’s just over the top!”

“Yeah, Young Master Xu, when are you going to teach us how to make money like that?”

“Your dad’s rich, sure, but turns out earning money runs in the family too!”

“I’ve never even seen that much money in my life…”

The seven or eight boys chimed in with genuine surprise, mixed with envy.

Xu Chen looked embarrassed and said:

“Alright, how about this—after school this afternoon, I’ll treat you all to McDonald’s!”

“Now that’s what I call generous, Young Master Xu!”

“And it has to be à la carte, not sets!”

“No wonder—making bank is your thing!” ……

The mention of a free meal had them flattering him again in an instant.

Xu Chen just shook his head, helpless.

    ……

The authorization agreement from Guo Liang checked out fine.

Xu Chen picked up a pen and signed his name.

He added his ID info and bank card details for the payment.

Guo Liang took it back, glanced over, and sighed:

“I didn’t save up 150,000 yuan until I was nearly forty.”

“You’re really something, Teacher Xiao Xu—so accomplished so young!”

Xu Chen laughed but didn’t respond.

Guo Liang handed back a copy:

“Here’s your duplicate. I’ll get finance to wire the money, and you can check if it’s in your account this afternoon.”

    Xu Chen lifted his teacup:

“Thanks a lot, General Manager Guo.”

Guo Liang raised his glass too:

“And thank you, Teacher Xiao Xu. That ad plan of yours—headquarters had been working on it for over a year.”

“A bunch of ad agencies pitched ideas, even international ones, but the boss wasn’t satisfied until yours came along.”

He took a sip of tea and continued:

“Actually, there’s one more thing, but I don’t think it’s right to bring it up.”

    Xu Chen: “What is it?”

Guo Liang smiled: “Headquarters sent me to meet you for another reason.”

“They want to invite you to join our marketing department.”

“But since you’re still in your senior year, I think you should focus on exams and college first.”

“Work can wait—after all, we’re not some global giant.”

“Your future’s bright, Teacher Xiao Xu—you might not even glance at a domestic drug company like ours later on.”

As Guo Liang finished, Chen Dahai blinked nearby:

“Wow… We’re not even thinking about jobs yet, and Young Master Xu’s already got an offer…”

This set off another wave of exclamations from the group.

Xu Chen smiled and said to Guo Liang:

“Thanks for the opportunity, but I need to focus on my exams right now—working isn’t ideal.”

    Chen Dahai grinned:

“General Manager Guo, you probably don’t know—Young Master Xu’s family runs a factory.”

“He’s set to inherit the business, so he might not need to job hunt at all!”

Guo Liang blinked and turned to Xu Chen:

“Teacher Xiao Xu… I mean, Boss Xiao Xu, please guide and look out for me in the future!”

Xu Chen chuckled and clinked glasses with Guo Liang again.

In his mind, though, he thought Guo Liang was a solid sales talent—

Charismatic, quick with words, and able to connect with anyone instantly.

He knew how to boost morale, even with much younger high school kids, dishing out compliments effortlessly.

That was emotional intelligence at work.

Plus, he was familiar with local market channels, which could be useful for his father’s expanding businesses down the line.

For now, though, it wasn’t urgent—his father’s seedling business was just getting started, and other ventures hadn’t begun.

    This was just the beginning.

    ……
