Chapter Index

The Rolls Royce pulled up at the entrance of Hua Lan Restaurant.

The door opened, and after Jiang Qian got in, the restaurant staff bowed slightly from a distance at the entrance.

The car glided along the brightly lit highway.

Since starting university and living farther from home, Jiang Qian couldn’t return every night, and the dormitory wasn’t convenient, so like Jiang Jingshi, she rented a house with Fang Meng.

Sitting in the back seat, Jiang Qian held the precious gift box, staring at it for a moment before glancing out the window.

Fang Meng had noticed the box in Jiang Qian’s hands when she picked her up—it was clearly a gift from someone else.

And the way Jiang Qian handled it so carefully pointed to only one person.

“Qian Qian, did Lin Zheng Ran give you a gift?”

Jiang Qian hummed in agreement. “He gave me a little gift—a piano he made himself.”

Through the rearview mirror, Fang Meng saw the blush on Jiang Qian’s face; she felt a twinge of envy but was happy for her friend. “Tonight’s dinner must have gone smoothly.”

“It did,” Jiang Qian said. “By the way, Xiao Meng, how’s your analysis of those girls’ profiles coming along? Any results?”

Fang Meng gripped the steering wheel, a bit troubled. “Qian Qian, I’ve got the results sorted out. It wasn’t hard to analyze, but it’s more surprising than I expected. Take a look first.”

She reached over from the passenger seat and handed Jiang Qian a notebook with her findings.

Jiang Qian set the gift box aside and took the analyzed materials from Fang Meng.

Fang Meng’s logical thinking and work skills were top-notch, so her analyses were always highly accurate.

    Jiang Qian opened the notebook.

She carefully read about Heqing, Lily, and Jiang Jingshi’s hobbies, behaviors, habits, likes, and daily activities.

    The results showed

    “They’re all different?!”

Fang Meng nodded, eyes on the road ahead:

“Yes. I thought their different personalities might lead to different actions, but comparing them really shows that Heqing, Lily, and the Eldest Miss have no similar behavior patterns at all.

Heqing is gentle and sweet-looking, loves Taekwondo and novels, has a strong body, enjoys organizing things, and eats a lot.

Lily is lively and cute, into music, has average but decent physical fitness, isn’t great at cooking or chores but can manage, and eats a moderate amount.

The Eldest Miss is cool on the outside but warm inside, incredibly beautiful, skilled in business and negotiations, has average physical fitness, loves making gourmet food, and eats little while focusing on nutrition.

These are just some obvious examples—there are many more small details, but none match. If I had to find similarities, it’s that they’re all beautiful, not bad people, and know Lin Zheng Ran. But these points clearly aren’t key to why he likes them, since there are plenty of girls like that around him.”

Fang Meng glanced at Jiang Qian. “And Qian Qian, you have these traits too, and so do I. That proves they’re not the key.”

Jiang Qian didn’t understand. “How can this be? Looking at it this way, these three have completely different life paths, yet they ended up together.”

“Fate works in mysterious ways. Lily is from the South and Heqing from the North, but they became friends because Lin Zheng Ran brought them together by chance. And because they both like him, they turned into close girlfriends. The Eldest Miss is the same way.”

Fang Meng emphasized, “Simply put, without Lin Zheng Ran as the link, these three might never have met, let alone become such close friends. Han Wenwen has been Heqing’s best friend since childhood, but that girl…”

She went on, “That girl is a bit special. I didn’t get to interview her, but from daily observations, I can guess she’s different from the other three. So, with Lin Zheng Ran’s four girlfriends, I can’t find any common ground.”

Jiang Qian’s cool eyes scanned the materials. “From this angle, Lin Zheng Ran really has a wide range when it comes to girls.”

    Fang Meng chuckled unexpectedly:

“Yeah, back in high school, I once asked Lin Zheng Ran what type he liked. He said he didn’t have a specific type and liked all kinds. I thought he was just being polite, but it turns out he meant it.”

After finishing, Jiang Qian looked up:

“But even if they seem totally different on the surface, there must be some similarity. My sister, Heqing, Lily, Han Wenwen—they all have something specific that makes Lin Zheng Ran fall for them. Otherwise, why them out of so many who like him?”

“True, and it’s clear that Han Wenwen knows what that is—she even knows the answer.”

Jiang Qian closed the notebook. “Can we get the answer from Han Wenwen?”

“Probably not. Among the four, she’s the most unique. Though she has guardians, her background shows she walked her path alone from a young age.

Once she fell for Lin Zheng Ran, her devotion went beyond typical couples—it’s intense enough that she fixates on anything related to him. She sees through my moves in an instant, so getting info about him from her is impossible.”

Jiang Qian sighed and turned to the window.

“Doesn’t matter. Keep digging until we find the answer.”

“Okay, but there’s something odd—Han Wenwen told me today that even if we keep investigating, it won’t help. I feel like there’s more to her words.”

Jiang Qian paused, then glanced at the gift box beside her and smiled. “Ignore it. No matter what, I won’t lose on this. My feelings for Lin Zheng Ran are just as strong as Han Wenwen’s.”

    “Agreed.”

That evening, the two friends returned to their rented house, and Jiang Qian changed out of her evening gown into black pajamas.

She placed the gift box from Lin Zheng Ran on her pillow.

Gently touching the piano model inside, her eyes filled with affection.

    She even slept holding it.

A few more days slipped by unnoticed.

Soon, it was another relaxing weekend.

    Inside the three-story villa.

Lin Zheng Ran woke up in his bedroom that morning.

He couldn’t move an inch because Jiang Jingshi clung to his left arm, her face near his neck.

On his right, Han Wenwen held his other arm, her face against it.

Heqing and Lily lay on top of him—the four women were now used to sleeping like this.

With Lin Zheng Ran improving their sleep quality, they always rested deeply.

The only downside was that if he tried to get up, they’d all wake up, since they clung to him like koalas.

But today was different—before Lin Zheng Ran could stir, Jiang Jingshi’s long lashes fluttered, and her eyes slowly opened. “Zheng, what time is it?”
