Chapter 367: Morning Entanglements
by xennovelLin Zheng Ran, surrounded by the others, gazed at the ceiling: “Jingshi, are you awake? I can’t check the time right now.”
Jiang Jingshi’s beautiful almond eyes fixed on Lin Zheng Ran. Waking up each morning to see her boyfriend first thing filled this young lady with an unexpected sense of happiness. Instinctively, she kissed his cheek with her red lips:
“Good morning, Zheng. Let me check the time myself.”
She turned and picked up her phone.
Because of what Lin Zheng Ran said,
the other three women stirred awake with soft murmurs.
Han Wenwen frowned.
Little Heqing nestled her face against Lin Zheng Ran’s stomach like a kitten.
Lily half-opened one eye: “What time is it?”
Jiang Jingshi glanced at her phone and replied apologetically: “Lily, you’re up too? It’s six ten.”
Lily closed her half-open eye again.
“Jiang Jie, you’re awake already? Six is so early… I’m going back to sleep…”
Jiang Jingshi woke up quickly, her long-standing internal clock keeping her from lounging in bed when there was work to do.
She looked at the three sisters in their various sleeping positions—Little Heqing had even grabbed the wrong leg, one hand hugging Lin Zheng Ran’s stomach and the other her own thigh.
Gently, she reminded Little Heqing: “Qing Qing?”
Little Heqing lifted her head, her hazy eyes blinking: “Hmm? What’s up, Jiang Jie?”
Jiang Jingshi shifted her leg, her face slightly flushed: “Let go of my leg, sis. I need to get up.”
Little Heqing realized her mistake and quickly released her hand, feeling a bit embarrassed: “Sorry… I don’t even know when that happened…”
“It’s okay.”
Lin Zheng Ran turned to look at Jiang Jingshi in her silk pajamas; the fabric was smooth and loose.
Since girls don’t wear undergarments to bed,
from his angle, he could see certain things clearly.
“You’re getting up now? Do you have something on today?” Lin Zheng Ran asked.
Hearing this, Jiang Jingshi checked the messages on her phone: “Yeah, I want to drop by the company. It’s been two weeks, and Pan Lin alone must be swamped with stuff she can’t handle by herself.”
Lin Zheng Ran suggested: “Then I’ll come with you. I should freshen up too.”
Jiang Jingshi set down her phone and stared at Lin Zheng Ran, smiling softly:
“No need. Lily and Wenwen have practice today, right? You stay with them. I’ll just check in at the company and be back for dinner. If anything comes up that I can’t fix, I’ll call you.”
She stroked Lin Zheng Ran’s cheek, her tone carrying a hint of playful grievance: “Flirtatious Zheng is always so busy on weekends. So don’t worry about the little things—just leave them to me.”
Lin Zheng Ran smiled, but he had something important to say: “I know, but I definitely need to go today because there’s something I want to discuss with you.”
“What is it?”
“I’ve been meaning to bring it up.” Lin Zheng Ran turned to the little fox: “Wenwen?”
The little fox wrinkled her brow and eyes, her half-awake gaze full of charm: “Brother Zheng Ran… why are you calling me?”
As she spoke, she kept nuzzling against Lin Zheng Ran’s cheek.
Like a small animal.
“Whatever Brother Zheng Ran says, Wenwen will do.”
Her coy manner made even Jiang Jingshi blush. When it came to charming Zheng or showing off feminine allure, Wenwen was the best among them all.
It sometimes made Jiang Jingshi study her moves frame by frame.
Lin Zheng Ran was used to it:
“Wenwen, now that you’re familiar with Jingshi, remember that thing we talked about? Being my secretary. Pan Lin’s handling two people’s work, which is too much,
so you take over my part. I’ll give you top-level pay—just handle everything related to me so Pan Lin can focus on Jingshi’s side.”
The little fox perked up at the mention of being a secretary, her invisible fox ears twitching as her eyes lit up: “A secretary?! For Brother Zheng Ran? Yes! When do I start?”
Lin Zheng Ran looked at Jiang Jingshi: “Today, maybe? I’d feel at ease with Wenwen as my secretary.”
Though it was sudden, Jiang Jingshi had thought about it before—Wenwen’s personality suited the secretary role perfectly.
And as Zheng’s secretary, she’d pay absolute attention to his matters and handle everything seriously.
But one thing worried her: Wenwen’s captivating ways might lead to her sneaking moments with Zheng during work.
A touch of jealousy crossed Jiang Jingshi’s face as she nodded: “If Wenwen’s taking the job, she can start today. It’s our call anyway.”
Lin Zheng Ran: “Then it’s settled.”
Han Wenwen was thrilled at the idea of being a secretary, her nonexistent fox tail seeming to wrap around Lin Zheng Ran: “When are we heading to the company?! I’ve never seen it—I don’t even know what it looks like!”
Lin Zheng Ran freed a hand to pat Han Wenwen’s head: “We’ll go today and check it out. Let’s all get up.”
The two women nodded.
Lin Zheng Ran glanced down at the now-awake Lily and Little Heqing: “Lily, practice your singing on your own today. Heqing, stay home with her. We’ll be back tonight, and I’ll join you and Wenwen for music and streaming practice tomorrow.”
Lily nodded: “Sounds good. Heqing and I will wait for you all to return.”
Little Heqing nodded eagerly, as obedient as could be.
Han Wenwen pressed her face against Lin Zheng Ran’s: “Streaming—finally! It’s been over a year since I last made game videos.”
Jiang Jingshi asked: “Speaking of streaming, I’ve been wondering—do you do face reveals, Wenwen?”
Han Wenwen tapped a finger to her lips in thought:
“I thought about it before, but now I can’t and don’t want to. My fans know what I look like anyway, but I think virtual avatar streaming works great. I can show my face occasionally to liven things up,
but mostly stick with the avatar. It’s fun and won’t cause trouble for Brother Zheng Ran—our situation is a bit special after all.”
Jiang Jingshi smiled: “True. So your streaming avatar is a fox spirit, I bet?”
Han Wenwen sighed: “Jiang Jie, you’re so clever! I’ve already had a beautiful fox spirit avatar made specially for me.” She laughed.
Everyone suddenly grinned; it was obvious anyone could guess that.
With that, they all got up, got dressed, did makeup, and freshened up.
Jiang Jingshi called Pan Lin to pick them up—as the deputy manager, she’d need to wear a suit.
And Han Wenwen finally pulled out her custom secretary outfit from her dedicated wardrobe.
A bodycon skirt, black stockings, high heels, plus a white shirt and suit jacket.
As she took out the set,
Lin Zheng Ran reminded her: “You don’t have to dress so formally. As my personal secretary, you’re not in the office every day—it’s just for company matters related to me that leaders will contact you.”
Han Wenwen bit her lip and gave him a charming look: “I know, but I want to wear it just for you, Brother Zheng Ran.”
This made the other three blush as they watched Han Wenwen.
Her way of being coy was truly a talent.
