Chapter Index

Blood rained from the heavens, streaks of silvery lifeblood splitting the sky.

The sudden fall of a Dominator sent shockwaves through every Torch Captain on Calamity Star Floating-Land, but faced with the scattering Dominator’s blood, only a handful dared to make a move.

Even though the Dominator’s blood and flesh had been tacitly allotted by the three Star-Annihilator-class Captains looming high above, few captains beneath had the courage to fight over it.

Everyone knew how valuable the Dominator’s blood and body fragments were—they helped battleships ascend to Dreadnoughts, and were just as crucial for Dreadnought-class ships too.

Go up against two hundred Dreadnought Captains for it?

You’d have to seriously ask yourself if you were up for that.

Beneath the dense cloud cover, Dreadnoughts clashed with the last of the sixth-tier Doomstar warriors. As soon as the Dominator’s blood and limb fragments appeared, the Dreadnought Captains, as if by silent agreement, unleashed torrents of psionic power and laws that twisted together, forming massive Law-sculpted hands that reached out for the prizes.

If you watched closely, you might spot one Dreadnought with its hull suddenly enveloped by swirling black light right as the others made their moves.

Who else could it be but the Morningstar Family’s Duke Rosetta and her battleship, the Morningstar Traverse?

At the same time, the Calm-Sea Dragon-Xiang received a transmission not far away.

    “Song Wujian, now’s our chance!”

Hearing that, Song Wujian’s gaze sharpened inside the Calm-Sea Dragon-Xiang’s command center. He stared toward the spot where over a hundred spectral hands converged around the silvery blood.

There, a Law-forged chain of black and gold light stretched out from the Morningstar Traverse, dead set on the biggest piece—the Dominator’s right arm.

But Rosetta Morningstar wasn’t alone. Four other peak Dreadnoughts, including Hardy Stark, had also fixed on that same target.

Whatever part Rosetta Morningstar used, her Law chain was denser and far more potent than the other four.

Maybe it was the black components, you’d think, but the others had black modules too—only two used gold parts, while the rest had Law-arms swathed in black. Clearly, that didn’t explain it.

Song Wujian didn’t dwell on it. With a thought, he activated a golden component on the Calm-Sea Dragon-Xiang.

Brilliant gold light flashed from the ship’s bow. One of the two main cannons rapidly transformed—it became a true Star-Annihilator Cannon, and as its unique trait engaged, it unleashed a searing beam of energy.

The cannon’s unstoppable might cut across space and struck a Law-arm summoned by another peak Dreadnought, its violent heat energy tearing through and draining away the power of three more Law-arms nearby.

Only the Morningstar Traverse’s Law chain emerged untouched. Using this opening, the black and gold chain shot out and quickly entwined the Dominator’s right arm.

    Buzz, buzz, buzz!

Hardy and the other four peak Dreadnought Captains tried to intervene, but then a faint spatial fluctuation echoed. The gold-black Law chain abruptly broke free from the Morningstar Traverse and dove straight into the void.

Something deep within the void seemed to be tugging from afar. The Law chain stretched taut, and no matter how the four rival Dreadnoughts struggled, they couldn’t stop the Dominator’s right arm from being drawn into the endless dark.

    “Rosetta, how dare you!!”

Hardy Stark’s frigid voice rang out from the White Phantom, his Dreadnought unleashing a wave of near-perfect Gold Laws surging at the Morningstar Traverse.

By the look of it, Hardy had lost his temper—he looked ready to burst out and intimidate by force, even if that meant ignoring the ironclad rule forbidding capital-ship infighting among the Torch Captains.

It made sense though. Hardy Stark was over ten thousand years old, really nearing the end of a Dreadnought Captain’s lifespan.

The Dominator’s flesh was key to his final push toward seventh-tier. Rosetta Morningstar taking the Dominator’s right arm crushed his last hope of ascension. In that situation, who wouldn’t snap?

    “Enough!”

A voice boomed across every Dreadnought Captain’s mind like thunder.

Especially for Hardy Stark aboard the White Phantom—it exploded through his skull with a force that left his face bloodless under the sheer shock.

As he recovered, there was no sign of his earlier anger or gloom—only fear remained.

Because deep down, he sensed this voice did not belong to any of the three Star-Annihilator Captains up above, but came from deep within the void at the end of that gold and black Law chain.

“Could it be… has Rosetta already taken that final step?”

That was Hardy Stark’s instinctive suspicion, and the source of his terror.

But a moment later, he shook his head quickly.

“No, if Rosetta really became a Star-Annihilator Captain, then what explains the Morningstar Traverse shadowing the Joint Fleet all these years?”

But then Hardy remembered how Rosetta had never once revealed his true face in decades. Turning his gaze on the Morningstar Traverse, he glimpsed its faint, almost ghostly hull—and suddenly it all made sense.

It was just a warship avatar! All these years, the Morningstar Traverse with the Joint Fleet had been an avatar—the real ship was hidden away, preparing for its ascension!

The realization hit him like a tidal wave. He didn’t dare show a shred of disrespect toward the Morningstar Traverse anymore.

“Fascinating—a black-hulled avatar module? No wonder even I never uncovered it. In that case, congratulations are in order!”

From high above, a voice drifted down from the Fenglang Juxu, a Star-Annihilator-class vessel, blanketing the entire sixth-tier battlefield.

In response, a voice echoed up from within the void behind the gold-black Law chain.

“With Calamity Star Floating-Land nearly conquered, I’d say the congratulations are mutual!”

Only then did the other Dreadnought Captains realize the truth, comprehension dawning on their faces.

All eyes turned, amazed, from the rapidly fading Morningstar Traverse to the faint, colossal shadow—tens of thousands of kilometers long—emerging from the void.

At that moment, the only words left in every Dreadnought Captain’s mind were:

    Star-Annihilator-class—Morningstar Traverse!

Silence took hold for a long moment. Once they recovered from the stunning scene, the fight for the remaining Dominator’s blood and body parts resumed in full force.

These Dreadnought Captains were cunning veterans. Their surprise and envy faded fast; they immediately figured out what was really going on.

It was obvious. The Morningstar Duchy’s founding Duke had managed to upgrade his ship to a Star-Annihilator, but his own Guiding Technique clearly hadn’t reached seventh-tier yet—otherwise he wouldn’t have needed to send an avatar to this war.

Had he come in person, the profit would have been so much greater.

Just think—the whole of Calamity Star Floating-Land would’ve been his for the taking.

Sending just an avatar meant he completely lost the right to share the land above with the three Star-Annihilator-class Kingdom Captains. All he might get was the largest slice from the public holdings.

That loss in gains was astronomical.

Still, even knowing that, the Duke sent an avatar regardless—the reason was obvious.

Now everyone was sure Rosetta Morningstar wasn’t truly a Star-Annihilator Captain yet, and his only chance to act had already passed. The other Dreadnought Captains could now move without fear.

But after that brief interlude, the Dominator’s blood and flesh fragments rained down toward the floating-land below. The Dreadnoughts wasted no time, piloting their ships down after them.

Rosetta Morningstar had snatched the biggest piece, but there was still plenty left. No Dreadnought Captain would just stand by and watch.

With the silver blood and flesh falling ever closer, it was finally the Extreme Battleship Captains’ turn. Their attacks flared below the floating-land, veiling the sky as the next stage of the contest began.

No one noticed a massive python, its body laced with emerald toxin-fire, weaving through the chaos and joining the chaos in the sky.

Deep in the largest stretch of primal forest in the east, the Heavenly Ruin hid within the sea of trees. Relying on both ship’s sensors and his psychic mark placed on the Toxic Flame Black-scaled Python, Song Chi pushed his Dual Pupils to the limit, folding in the Laws of Space and Light, scrutinizing the energy signature of the Dominator’s flesh and blood thousands of kilometers overhead.

Within the silver blood and flesh, hostile Death Calamity Star energy and residual Law of Light left them incredibly dangerous—and made it easier for Song Chi to tell which ones were truly valuable.

Other Torch Captains couldn’t hope to analyze the mix of powers in those chunks, but Song Chi had the Dual Pupils. He could perfectly dissect the starlight energies and Law traces in every drop of blood, every scrap of flesh.

The stronger the energy and Law signature inside, the higher the value.

So Song Chi didn’t let the Toxic Flame Black-scaled Python attack at random. The python was powerful enough, but it faced nearly two hundred Dreadnoughts and a swarm of senior and peak Battleships.

Opportunities were rare—as soon as it made a move, the other Torch Captains would notice, or even target it.

Suddenly, Song Chi’s gaze lit up. Among all the fragments, he spotted a drop of silvery Dominator’s blood pulsing with immense energy.

Its energy signature wasn’t quite like the Death Calamity Star or pure Law of Light, but it was potent enough.

If the energy in the other drops was like candlelight, then this one burned with the brilliance of the full moon.

No hesitation—Song Chi gave the command via his psychic link for the python to seize that blood.

    Hisssss!

The giant serpent shrieked, streams of viridian toxin-flame rippling out before it lunged straight for that silver droplet.

The python went all-out, racing through barrage after barrage of clashing Law-formed hands, never taking its eyes off the glimmering drop.

But just a few hundred meters away, a Law-hand swirling with the power of wind—most likely from a sixth-tier Dreadnought—lunged in to claim the blood first.

At that speed, it would beat the python by a lot.

Song Chi scowled, brow furrowed in frustration.

He hesitated a breath, then his eyes hardened—the blood was his, no matter what.

    “Sorry about this!”

He muttered, thoughts snapping to the Enslave Medal at his side.

He’d made a point to transfer the python’s control from the Abyssal Devil to the Enslave Medal when he first landed—just a safety net, but looks like it was about to pay off.

    “Enslave Seal: Berserk! Activate!”

With the seal unleashed, blood-red vapor billowed from the python’s scales—its entire life force blazing up like a bonfire.

Pity the Enslave Medal was only a red-grade component—its boost capped at sixth-tier, so there was no breaking through.

Even with everything burning, the python still couldn’t shatter the barrier and breach seventh-tier.

Still, not all was lost—thanks to the burning life energy, its strength now pressed close to half a step from seventh-tier.

    Whoosh!

Its speed exploded, surging ahead and quickly overtaking the hand of wind.

But the Law-hand’s master didn’t let up. It smacked down at the python’s tail, refusing to give in.

    Sssssst!

Viridian toxin-fire and the Law of Wind crashed together with a violent hiss. It didn’t fully stop the python, but it sure slowed it down. With more Law-hands closing in, there was no way the python could succeed at this rate.

    “Damn it!”

Song Chi’s face darkened—he couldn’t see any way through.

This wasn’t his real body, after all, so he couldn’t tap into the Heavenly Ruin’s full power. Everything depended on the python now.

Just then, a new Law-shaped hand swept down from above—not at the python, but hammering the Law-hand gripping the serpent’s tail.

The blow forced the wind Law-hand to let go, and the python shot forward at full speed once more.

    “Thank you, Progenitor!”

In the Heavenly Ruin, Song Chi quietly offered his gratitude, a smile breaking across his face. He recognized the signature of their family’s signature Sky Shaman Grand Hand Seal—all too familiar to him.
