Chapter 462: Division of the Calamity Star Floating-Land
by xennovelOutside the Calamity Star Floating-Land, representatives from all the major factions of the Morningstar Duchy, including Hardy Stark of the Stark Family, had gathered once more.
Though the broader division of territory was settled, internal allocations among the factions were only just beginning.
With a newly acquired 250,000 light-years, and factoring in the duchy’s original domain as well as the Chaos Sector, the future territory of the Morningstar Kingdom extended to roughly 300,000 light-years. But how to split up this vast territory would now have to be negotiated among the houses.
Before anyone else could speak, Rosetta Morningstar and Song Wujian, as if they’d agreed beforehand, took the lead.
“Counting the duchy’s original lands, from south to north, the 120,000 light-years go to the Morningstar Family!”
“Same for the Song Family. Including our original Dinghai Sector, Red River Sector, and the western Chaos Sector, plus an additional northward extension of 70,000 light-years, that gives us an 80,000 light-year stretch for the Dinghai Songs!”
At that, the Stark, Lu, Dusk, and Eagle Families all looked rather disgruntled. After all, these two houses were directly claiming 200,000 light-years—a full two-thirds of the Morningstar Kingdom.
But the fact was, each house had a Dominion-level powerhouse backing them. In the end, no one dared object.
Eventually, after a round of wrangling, the four families and remaining factions finished doling out the last 100,000 light-years.
The Stark Family claimed a 25,000 light-year sector bordering the Yaohan Kingdom. The Lu and Dusk Families took 20,000 each, the Eagle Family got 15,000, and the final 20,000 light-years were split among the rest of the duchy’s powers.
This division wasn’t perfect—a lot of factions weren’t satisfied—but for the Morningstar and Song Families, it was ideal.
Among the domains assigned to his family, Song Chi immediately spotted the ‘Storm Calamity Floating-Land.’
Clearly, the Family Patriarch hadn’t forgotten about the mid-sized titanite crystal vein there, which held a mineral core.
Besides the Storm Calamity Floating-Land and the Song Clan’s ancestral Dragon‑Spine Continent, there were three sixth-tier floating-lands in their new 80,000 light-year domain. One was a life-type floating-land called ‘Calamity Void Floating-Land.’ The other two were resource-type floating-lands, which the family named ‘Dinghai 001’ and ‘Dinghai 002.’
As for fifth-tier floating-lands, there were more than twenty—with even more at the fourth tier.
Doomsea Floating-Land, Song Family base.
In the encrypted group chat co-hosted by the Calm-Sea Dragon‑Xiang and the Unmoving Vajra:
“Though the main battle is over, none of us can afford to relax. In an 80,000 light-year domain, there are bound to be Doomstar survivors still out there.”
“Dingbang, get arrangements made quickly. Assign Torch Captains to every fifth-tier life floating-land. For fourth-tier floating-lands, deploy a hundred-strong Hellfire Mech regiment to each. We have to keep order on every high-tier land!”
“I’ll be heading back to Dragon‑Spine Continent to oversee things directly. Shiyuan, here’s a High-Dimensional Portal module—once it’s upgraded to tier six, you can set seven portal coordinates within 100,000 light-years. You’ll be posted at Storm Calamity Floating-Land and set portals on Dragon‑Spine, Calamity Void, and other key floating-lands. That way, we can respond instantly wherever we’re needed!”
“Also, for these newly claimed floating-lands, starting development and immigration needs to be a top priority. The sooner people settle, the sooner we can unlock the value of these lands and start boosting the Song Family’s returns.”
After all that, seeing Song Wujian pause, Song Dingbang, who’d been quietly listening, spoke up on his own:
“Patriarch, immigration might be tough for now.”
Everyone in the chat knew what he meant. The Dinghai Sector only had just over 2,000 light-years and a few hundred billion people before.
Though they’d launched family-wide policies to encourage childbirth and expanded all their offworld colonies across the star domains as soon as news of the expansion war broke—
—still, only a few decades had passed. Even with rapid growth, it was impossible to fill up eighty thousand light-years with their current population.
Song Wujian thought for a moment and then said:
“The Red River and western Chaos Sector migrations finished these last few decades. Now, the newly acquired seventy thousand light-years are the problem—just not enough people. For now, immigrate people to all third-tier and above life floating-lands. In another century, once population rises, we’ll open up all the life floating-lands.”
“Yes!”
…
After those arrangements, Song Wujian turned again to Song Chi in the chat.
“Chi, I know the Heavenly Ruin has enough of a foundation to ascend to battleship-class, but your Guiding Technique is only level 45, far behind what a proper warship needs. If you tried to upgrade now, you’d be mismatched with the ship for a long time and your bond would suffer.”
“So stay on the Calamity Star Floating-Land for now. We’ve secured the public plot we wanted and construction is at a critical stage. The family’s shops and base are vital. Hold things down for a few decades and come back to Dragon‑Spine once your Guiding Technique catches up. Sound good?”
Song Chi had no reason to refuse and nodded in agreement.
Not only was the patriarch right, but the gap in his Guiding Technique was actually pretty big. Forcing a breakthrough would only reduce the ship’s promotion success rate and hurt their future compatibility—no captain wanted that.
In comparison, staying on this seventh-tier Calamity Star Floating-Land was a fantastic choice.
With the expansion war just ended, every captain had goodies stockpiled. Plus, the Calamity Star Floating-Land was the only seventh-tier life floating-land in an 800,000 light-year area and sat dead center—making it the most sought-after spot for independent Torch Captains.
That made it the perfect place to collect rare Starsea Oddities that couldn’t be converted into ship components: Dense Black‑Hole Stone, Void‑Escape Stone, basic AI, Angel’s Blood, and the like.
If luck was on your side, you might even snatch up a high-tier Floating-Land Origin, tree hearts from star plants, or advanced Void Crystals—treasures you could only dream of.
But curiously, the High-Dimensional Wormhole Generator never got mentioned—not once. Did none of them in the chat know about this golden sanctum strategic module?
Of course they knew.
The real reason was simple: creating an artificial wormhole between Dragon‑Spine and Storm Calamity Floating-Land through the Wormhole Generator would massively boost immigration, development, and commerce.
But there was one unbeatable risk.
As a golden sanctum-level strategic part, once the Wormhole Generator’s existence leaked, not even an Imperial Flagship from the Three-Eyed Royal Clan could handle all the greedy eyes on it.
Only a fully completed Star-Annihilator-class Ship, with the Song Family elevated to the Immortal Houses, would let them use the module or even trade cross-faction wormhole access freely.
They could, for example, charge other Immortal Houses to open wormhole routes.
With orders passed, the Song Family fleet soon left Doomsea Floating-Land, using stargates or space jumps to head into their new territory.
After all, Doomsea was just a few thousand light-years from Calamity Star and was right in the heart of the Yaohan Kingdom’s Immortal House turf—no place to linger.
…
Calamity Star Floating-Land, Tianhan Plain.
After careful negotiation, the three Immortal Houses of the Yaohan Kingdom designated this vast plain as a public open area.
Now, this plain stretched for billions of kilometers and was bustling beyond belief. Every moment saw tens of thousands of Torch warships coming and going, making it the liveliest place around.
At the very center, a mountain reminiscent of the Dragon Spine Sacred Mountain had, through the Song Fleet’s almost magical engineering, shot up in just a few months. This became the family’s sole outpost on Calamity Star.
Not far from Dragon Spine Hall, a brand-new, giant city had also risen from the ground in a matter of months.
The city, Dragon Spine City, was Song Family’s trading hub with the outside world.
Now, Dragon Spine City housed not just the Song commercial tower, but also plenty of storefronts rented and sold at high prices—no wonder the place was getting more crowded by the day.
Dragon Spine Commercial Tower, top floor.
Just finishing up some crucial business, Song Chi was getting ready to head to the market and begin his decades-long cultivation stint.
But just then, a sharp beep startled him.
Glancing down, he saw a message from the Yaoguang Star Order group chat pop up via his Star Order No.32.
“Order #3, ‘Corpse Dog’: @everyone Does anyone have a sixth-tier Moon Spring? I need it urgently!”
“Order #17, ‘Qinghu’: @Order #3 ‘Corpse Dog’ Uncle Corpse Dog, are you trying to break through to tier seven?”
“Order #3, ‘Corpse Dog’: Yep. Failed!”
“Order #19, ‘Scorching Sun’: What? Does that mean your ship…”
“Order #17, ‘Yulong’: Uncle Corpse Dog, even you didn’t make it? I don’t have a sixth-tier Moon Spring, but I’ll tell my people to search—though odds aren’t good. That stuff is just too rare. By the way, do you need a lifespan extension item? I’ve got a sixth-tier Star Plant Tree Heart that can add a few hundred years.”
“Order #3, ‘Corpse Dog’: If I can get a Moon Spring, my lifespan’s manageable. I have a special module too. Even though my ship’s promotion failed, it didn’t sink—just lost two gold modules. But my Torch Seed is in cooldown. I’ll have to wait for it to recover before I can summon and control my ship again!”
“Order #17, ‘Yulong’: That’s good—the ship’s still around, so you get another shot at the breakthrough!”
…
Corpse Dog’s update set the whole chat group ablaze—messages flew in one after another.
After reading these, Song Chi’s mind was already racing.
He just happened to have a sixth-tier Moon Spring, or maybe his patriarch did. The one he got earlier from the Night Elves had already been handed over.
This stuff was so rare that he normally wouldn’t even consider trading it.
But the Yaoguang Star Tower members were close, and if Corpse Dog couldn’t secure a sixth-tier Moon Spring—now that his Torch Seed’s in an extended cooldown—he’d likely never get another shot at a Star-Annihilator-class ship.
And as for lifespan extension?
Corpse Dog’s rank was high, and by now he’d used almost every extension item there was. Most extra years meant little to him.
So, if there was anything he could do to help, Song Chi really wanted to step forward.
Plus, Corpse Dog’s connections ran deep. If you offered a sixth-tier Moon Spring, he’d definitely trade something of equal or greater value.
For example—a Silver Upgraded Fire Source.
And that was exactly what the Prime Ancestor needed right now.
Because of Torch Seed limitations, the Unmoving Vajra had only reached Dreadnought-class. Its highest modules were tier six, so its power among Dreadnoughts was merely average.
If they could evolve the Torch Seed to silver and upgrade all modules to tier seven, it would massively boost the Unmoving Vajra’s combat strength.
With that in mind, Song Chi sent a message through his Star Order.
“Order #32, ‘Jingzhe’: Uncle Corpse Dog, I just got a lead on a sixth-tier Moon Spring. Need to check something first—hang tight!”
He then hurried to the summoning room beneath the commercial tower to call out the Heavenly Ruin and activate the Long‑Range Communication Disk.
With the module now upgraded to tier six, it could connect instantly up to 100,000 light-years away. The Calm-Sea Dragon‑Xiang was already heading back to Dragon‑Spine, but based on the timing, it should still be in range.
But just as he was about to activate it, another reply landed in the chat.
“Order #26, ‘Xuanhu’: Jingzhe, you’re amazing!”
“Order #3, ‘Corpse Dog’: Jingzhe, here’s what I can offer—see if your side is interested!”
He uploaded a new list of trade items.
“Silver Time module: ‘Time Crown (Replica)’, one Dominion Soul, two wisps of Seventh‑Tier Floating-land Origin, one drop of Dominion Blood…”
Everyone’s eyes lit up at the list. Even Song Chi felt the pull, though he quickly frowned. He had a feeling the patriarch would most want the Silver Upgraded Fire Source—but Corpse Dog didn’t seem to have it.
He simply messaged: “Don’t worry,” then activated the communication disk.
As expected, the device synced with its counterpart on the Calm-Sea Dragon‑Xiang—Song Wujian still hadn’t left Calamity Star’s vicinity.
“Chi, what’s up?”
