Chapter 586: Clash of Alliances at the Great Wall of Civilization
by xennovelAfter all, they’re technically the Morningstar royal clan—their influence easily outstrips the Song Family.
Adding in their massive allied fleet, word was that the Morningstar Family had nearly twenty-five million warships—far more than the Song Family’s fifteen million.
But the Song Family’s higher-ups stayed calm. With the Chigu Luo Clan now their full-spectrum strategic ally, Song’s leadership had no reason for concern.
At the very front lines, over three hundred Zhulu-class and superior warships were assembled. With many of the clan’s Tier Four members watching, Song Wujian—recently returned—spoke up in the comms channel:
“No need to worry. Captain Luo of the Star-Annihilator-class ship has just used a Becoming-God Fruit to push his Guiding Technique past Tier Seven. That’s enough to unleash a Star-Annihilator’s full power.”
“As for where we’ll meet, it’s set opposite the Great Wall of Civilization, in the Chipan Galaxy. They have a way to teleport their main force there directly.”
……
“All personnel, hear this! Our target is the far north of the Kingdom—move out!”
Carried by Tier Seven dark energy, even with the fleet spread across such a vast area, the order to advance rang out unmistakably in the ears of every single participant.
A heartbeat later, the entire starry sky was roaring as countless engines ignited. The Song Family’s fleet plunged through stargates they’d prepared, bound for Morningstar Kingdom’s far northern sector.
With over ten million ships moving as one—and more than 80% just standard warships—progress was inevitably slow.
It took the Song Family’s fifteen million-strong fleet two whole years to finally reach the northern part of the Kingdom.
The Great Wall of Civilization—within Morningstar Kingdom, along the wall’s span.
By the time the Song Family’s warships arrived to mount the wall, the Morningstar Family had beaten them there, already gathered in force.
Compared to Song’s less than four hundred top-tier warships, the Morningstar Family had brought more than six hundred Zhulu-class and above.
And besides them, there was a third group—their number of Zhulu-class ships was the smallest, barely two hundred, and they had no Star-Annihilator-class ship in command.
“That must be the allied force from the Gold Horn Lu Family, the Dusk Family, the Eagle Family, and the Golden Dragon Zhao Clan, right?”
“They really didn’t rally behind the Morningstar Family? That’s a surprise.”
Someone voiced their doubts in the joint comms channel for the Song Family and attached forces like Philip’s.
“What’s so surprising? They just don’t want to be under anyone’s thumb—but that’s a fool’s game. Without a Star-Annihilator-class ship, they’ll never have a real say. No matter if they want it or not, once war breaks out they’ll be the first ones thrown onto the battlefield.”
The speaker was a Zhulu-class captain from the Bai Family—a former marriage ally of the Song’s Tenth Direct Line. The Bai’s prospects had improved considerably; they’d gone from barely having a single Zhulu-class captain centuries ago to now boasting five.
The comment wasn’t wrong per se, but plenty figured those families weren’t blind to this reality.
Never mind the Dusk and Eagle Families—the Gold Horn Lu Family had survived for over six thousand years as a Tier Six house with nearly a billion members. You seriously think none of them noticed?
No way—not a chance.
A house that’s lasted six millennia and still runs like clockwork? There’s no way they’re simple.
If the Lu Family’s playing it this way, they’ve got their reasons—and most likely, they’re angling for that one sliver of hope.
It’s not just the Lu Family; the Dusk Family, the Eagle Family, even the newly promoted Golden Dragon Zhao Clan—all of them want to take a gamble, to climb higher and seize more spoils in this civilization-wide war, hoping that someday they might make the same leap as Song Wujian or Rosetta Morningstar.
In comparison, those sheltered under the two great Immortal Houses might dodge the first round of fighting, but what they get is only what trickles through the fingers of their overlords. Enough to survive, sure, but not enough to thrive.
As the three main parties mulled this over, a warship sped out from the Morningstar side at the center.
It was the Morningstar Traverse.
Seeing it heading his way, Song Wujian immediately moved to intercept.
As the two Star-Annihilator-class ships closed in, Calm‑Sea Dragon‑Xiang received a comms request.
Once they connected, Rosetta Morningstar’s image appeared.
“Song Wujian, this civilization war is far deadlier than anyone suspected. What do you say—shall our two families join forces?”
“We may never have gotten along, but this is a cataclysm that could overturn the heritage of both our clans. Only if we put old grudges aside and face it together can we both win.”
After speaking, Rosetta waited quietly for Song Wujian’s reply. Though he showed no emotion, Song—gifted with his Dual Pupils—caught that faint, hidden smile deep in Rosetta’s eyes. It was a smile with no hint of worry—utter certainty that the Song Family would have no choice but to accept, a smile that said he thought he had them cornered.
Given their current strength, if the two clans did team up, the Morningstar Family would almost certainly win more say—leading to even greater long-term gains.
But Song Wujian’s expression stayed cold. He didn’t hesitate for a second and rejected him outright:
“No thanks. The Song Family already has an alliance—you’ll have to look elsewhere.”
He turned the Calm‑Sea Dragon‑Xiang to leave. As expected, seeing this, Rosetta quickly raised his voice again.
“Song Wujian, are you really going to risk the fate of your entire clan over a few past squabbles?”
“Those three families of the Yaohan Kingdom have banded together—they won’t work with us. Who else could you possibly ally with?”
The Calm‑Sea Dragon‑Xiang didn’t stop turning away, and Song Wujian’s only answer was four short words.
Watching Song Wujian steer the Calm‑Sea Dragon‑Xiang back toward his group, a chill flickered in Rosetta’s eyes—quickly replaced by a glow of urgency and worry that wouldn’t fade.
“Damn it. If I’d known this civilization war was coming, I never would’ve gotten mixed up when Dragon-Spine Continent was advancing. That one event set us directly at odds with the Song Family ever since!”
“What is Song Wujian thinking? However tense things are, now’s not the time for childish games!”
A thousand thoughts churned through the king’s mind.
Rosetta Morningstar—already over eight thousand years old and a Torch Captain—had never felt quite this anxious before.
But this time was different. With a full-scale war between two galaxy clusters looming, even with his advancement, he couldn’t guarantee his own safety. Without another trustworthy Star-Annihilator-class captain to rely on, the Morningstar Traverse would be in grave danger going forward.
The biggest problem: He was still just a Silver Torch Seed, which meant the Morningstar Traverse could only be equipped with Tier Seven components at best. Among Torch Battleships, that made it the weakest of its class.
“No, I’ll have to try the three families of the Yaohan Kingdom again later…”
……
Two months later, the Yaohan Kingdom’s fleets were fully assembled behind the Great Wall of Civilization as well. As fellow rulers of this galaxy, their orders matched those of the Morningstar Kingdom—to attack the Chipan Galaxy beyond the wall.
Compared to the Morningstar Duchy’s fifty million-strong armada, the Yaohan Kingdom—founded more than ten millennia ago—had a much deeper reserve.
Their combined navy almost hit two hundred million ships.
They alone brought thirty million Torch Battleships.
Yet even with such power, neither royal fleet dared make the first move.
Beyond the portal, on the far side of the spatial wormhole, awaited an entire galaxy—though smaller than Tianpan, Chipan Galaxy was still a million light-years across and crowded with the Eight-Armed Serpent Demon legions.
The Eight-Armed Serpent Demons were true children of the Sea of Stars—one of the top five starborn species, far stronger than the Doomstar Race ever was.
Plus, there were still remnants of the Doomstar Race in Chipan Galaxy—a force that couldn’t be ignored.
As the standoff dragged on, it finally took inspectors from the Xian Qin Divine Dynasty to break the impasse.
With a war spanning two galaxy clusters at stake, the Divine Dynasty would never let its vassals stumble blindly onward. In each galaxy, the Dynasty sent one or two Star-Annihilator-class captains as cooperative inspectors.
These inspectors had two jobs: help coordinate the various factions in battle, and oversee both the progress and speed of their advances—effectively acting as central government envoys.
For Tianpan Galaxy, the Dynasty sent two Star-Annihilator-class captains, four Dreadnought captains, and eight battleship captains.
They were split into two groups—one responsible for the Yaohan Kingdom, the other for the Morningstar Kingdom.
“Your Majesties, Rosetta, Lord Dinghai: On orders from the Divine Dynasty’s Imperial Court, all forces under its command will launch a thirty-pronged attack on the Eight-Armed Serpent Demon galaxy cluster in seven days.”
“Besides us, the Shensia, Chiyu, and Holy Hall forces will strike at the same time.”
In the magnetic comms channel, besides Rosetta and Song Wujian, there was a third speaker.
His name was Wang Li, from the Wang Clan of the Xian Qin Divine Dynasty, and he too had been dispatched as a Torch Judgement Court inspector. Like Song Wujian, Wang Li was also a Star-Annihilator-class captain.
After he finished, both Song Wujian and Rosetta Morningstar replied instantly.
“Of course. Since this is a Divine Dynasty order, the Morningstar Kingdom’s fleets will mobilize with full force—advancing into the Chipan Galaxy as swiftly as possible.”
Neither Song nor Rosetta could’ve given a more proper answer. Inspector Wang’s gaze swept calmly over both faces before he uttered,
“See that you do!”
