Chapter Index

Little Fox’s behavior was straight out of a big boss’s secretary playbook, and it wasn’t just a one-time thing lately.

This enthusiastic tissue-passing act always stirred up jealousy among the guys and gossip among the girls.

But Han Wenwen clearly didn’t care about any of that.

Lin Zheng Ran murmured his thanks, took the tissue, used it, tossed it in the trash, and headed back to class with Han Wenwen.

Han Wenwen asked curiously, “What did Lily want to chat about just now?”

    “Nothing at all.”

Han Wenwen glanced away, looking jealous, muttering just loud enough for Lin Zheng Ran to hear, “Fine, don’t tell me. I don’t even want to know anyway.”

    Lin Zheng Ran just sighed.

She sneaked a peek at Lin Zheng Ran and suddenly grinned, “Can you feel it, Lin Zheng Ran? Something big is coming, and it’s not just something small.”

Lin Zheng Ran eyed Han Wenwen, who seemed to be enjoying the drama as if she already knew some answers, and ignored her.

Han Wenwen stopped and watched Lin Zheng Ran walk into the classroom, grumbling to herself, “Lin Zheng Ran is so aloof~”

She glanced at Lily by the third class door, who was talking to someone with a mix of excitement and worry on her face.

Han Wenwen had a pretty good idea why Lily had sought out Lin Zheng Ran.

Little Fox’s eyes twinkled with a knowing look.

“I can’t just sit back and wait anymore.”

That evening, Heqing stayed up late in bed, knitting with needles and yarn well past midnight.

Finally, she finished the last piece of the scarf.

She smiled with delight, admiring the elegant, warm scarf in her hands, “It’s done!”

    Saturday finally arrived.

The day was bright and clear, as if signaling a perfect time for something important.

In the morning, Lily rode back home with Lin Zheng Ran and parted at the crossroads, “Big dummy, drop your stuff and hurry over.”

Lin Zheng Ran just raised his hand in response.

Lily smiled and dashed home, tossing her backpack on the sofa before heading to the bathroom to shower, brush her teeth, wash her hair, and trim her nails.

Whenever Lin Zheng Ran came over, she always did this routine.

Even her parents, who weren’t home, seemed used to it and left a kind note:

“Lily, Mom and Dad aren’t home today. Take this money to buy something to eat. If Ran Ran comes over, get extra to share with him.”

After her shower, Lily wrapped in a towel with water droplets on her fair, youthful shoulders, spotted the note and money by the sink, and set them aside with a smile.

Once her hair was dry, she started picking out nice clothes from her wardrobe.

She settled on a cozy pink sweater, a pleated skirt, and those leg-hugging wonders girls love.

Checking herself in the mirror from side to side, she thought it looked great, her double ponytails swinging along.

Glancing at the time, she figured the big dummy would be here soon.

She lay on the bed and scrolled through pictures of the new zoo in the city district.

“Bengal tigers, majestic lions, cute little bears~”

The more she looked, the more excited she got, but inviting Lin Zheng Ran to the zoo made her nervous too. Then she suddenly thought of Heqing and murmured to herself:

“Wait, if Heqing is planning to confess to him soon, is just asking him to the zoo enough?”

She set her phone down, grabbed the fresh bedding her mom had changed, and buried her face in it, “Probably not, right? After all…”

She recalled things he’d said before and blushed, “Didn’t he tell me to always stick with him? That means he wants to marry me when we grow up, right? And he always keeps his word…”

She pounded the bedding in embarrassment, “How embarrassing! How can he say stuff like that to a girl? So shameless!” Lily muttered, “I guess only I would agree to that… No other girl would marry him and have his kids.”

The doorbell rang, and Lily shot up from the bed. She confirmed it was ringing before happily getting up, quickly fixing her clothes and hair, checking her pleated skirt for wrinkles, and then rushing to the door:

“Coming! Big dummy, you’re here so fast? I just got dressed.”

She opened the door, and Lin Zheng Ran walked in like he owned the place; there was even a pair of men’s slippers waiting just for him.

It felt just like stepping into his own home.

Lin Zheng Ran casually tapped her on the head, “Are you splitting personalities or what? You’re the one who told me to hurry. Are Uncle and Aunt around?”
