Chapter 617: Blood Mist of Betrayal
by xennovelYamamoto!!
Sir!!
They watched in horror as their Captain exploded into a cloud of blood mist under a barrage of skills. Even the Japanese Battle Zone Awakeners who hadn’t yet charged forward were staring in shock.
What enraged them was that while their Captain had fallen in battle, it wasn’t the massive group attack that killed him—it was Yenir, who seized the moment to land the finishing blow!
How detestable!
They all believed Yenir was the First Divine Warrior, yet in these circumstances he wielded their Battle Zone’s Artifact to slit down their comrades!
It was as if he rode atop their heads, dumped his filth, and forced them to swallow it!
Damn scum! Damn damned pigs!!
If earlier it was just a greedy urge to attack Yenir, now the hatred between the two sides had escalated into a bitter blood feud!
In their overwhelming rage, even the remaining Japanese Battle Zone Awakeners paid no heed to strategy; they fixed their gaze on the constantly moving Yenir and bellowed:
“That’s Divine Wind mode! It drains enormous energy!”
“That state makes it impossible to lock onto him! Don’t use spirit power to target—just attack directly!!”
“Watch out! Once he emerges, he’ll hit with a powerful sword slash!!”
Heeding the Japanese Battle Zone Awakeners’ warning, the Awakeners from the other three Battle Zones instantly steeled themselves. They hadn’t a clue how the Japanese side knew this kid’s abilities, but the earlier scene made it clear that both sides had already been in contact.
Deciding to forgo spirit power locking, the West Asia Awakeners launched the second wave, unleashing their ranged techniques in unison like a deadly net crashing onto Yenir.
Meanwhile, an Awakener skilled in mid-range charges readied himself to pounce—waiting for Yenir to drop out of Divine Wind mode so he could rush in and finish him off!
Although Yenir’s display was undeniably over-the-top, they also ‘noticed’ that he had been dodging their attacks the entire time; it was obvious his spirit energy reserves couldn’t sustain the coming battle!
It was merely a minor hiccup—daring to face all of them alone was nothing short of courting death!
While in Divine Wind mode, Yenir listened as the Japanese Battle Zone Awakeners, as if laying all their cards on the table, frenetically directed the other Battle Zones on how to strike.
Yenir only smiled indifferently, already scheming his next ‘performance’ in his mind.
Was his spirit energy running low? Would it fade soon?
What a joke—he still had at least six SSS-level skills unused!
Would he instantly obliterate the remaining Japanese fighters and then resurrect on the spot, or prolong the battle a bit longer before reviving?
Casually evading the relentless barrage of skills hurled his way, Yenir, firmly gripping his Dimensional Surge, wasn’t at all worried about suddenly getting taken out.
Dancing on a knife’s edge, buoyed by the high-speed mobility of Divine Wind mode, he even felt he could keep dodging indefinitely.
“Maybe I’ll just instantly take out a batch of Third-Stage Advanced fighters first? Third-Stage Advanced… there’s no need to switch to Otherworldly Ghost form…”
“Using Judgment and Divine Rage to finish off the strongest ones just doesn’t pack enough punch…”
After muttering a couple of things under his breath,
seeing that he was about to exit Divine Wind mode, Yenir immediately created some distance and soared into midair.
Glancing at the Four Battle Zones who mistakenly believed he was spent and unable to escape, Yenir chuckled softly, then, brandishing his Elemental Blade, unleashed a burst of fierce flame.
Fallen Heaven!
Sword Storm x2!
“Boom!!”
In an instant, as a curtain of light burst from his body, deflecting several scattered redirected attacks, hundreds of sword breaths materialized behind him.
Like the giant cannons of a battleship, not even a blink later, following two successive Sword Storms, a dense and terrifying shower of swords erupted behind him.
Aimed at the hordes of Awakeners relentlessly assaulting him—even those ready to charge in for the kill—
Yenir switched his target and instantly maximized his physical transformation, simultaneously activating his Blood Shadow Defense.
Beneath a triple shield, he looked like a meteor trailing a shower of swords as he charged headlong at the mass of Third-Stage Advanced fighters.
What is this!?
As Yenir descended from the sky, blasting forward at several times the speed of sound, every Peak Third-Stage combatant stood utterly dumbfounded.
In their eyes, the Yenir who had supposedly dropped out of Divine Wind mode wasn’t retreating at all—instead, after summoning a cluster of shields, he barreled straight at them! Such madness had many Peak Third-Stage fighters erupting into bitter, enraged laughter!
Did they really think their attacks were useless? They might have piled on the shields, but they didn’t believe they couldn’t finish Yenir off in one round!
However, when the first wave of attacks slammed directly into him, the burst of blinding light shattered everyone’s expectations.
The shields enveloping Yenir not only nullified control effects but, after three rounds of weakening, the attackers’ hasty redirections only resulted in a burst of blood mist erupting from his body.
It might seem that a well-coordinated focus fire or a charge by the strongest Strength Type warriors would be enough to kill Yenir.
Yet, in their high-speed charge, they were horrified to discover they couldn’t take him down midair!
“Tch, my defense seems even stronger than in the rehearsal…”
Contrary to the common belief that he only had a three-layer defense.
With all his attributes converted into physical might, Yenir felt his body was monstrously robust—so powerful that even his very breath seemed to radiate healing energy.
Enhanced Judgment, Demonic God Boost, Mind Storm Enhancement, Aura Amplification, Blood Shadow Shield, Combat Suit Rule Weakening, a double spirit shield from Fallen Heaven, plus his own Spirit Shield.
Under eight layers of defense, even Yenir—who had originally planned to use Dimensional Surge for an escape jump—was surprised to find he could actually withstand the onslaught.
“I can take at least seven or eight hits from my peers in one go!”
“Unless I become a sitting target, there’s really no way I can be killed in battle!”
Real combat is the ultimate test of truth.
Although he knew he was strong, unleashing his full power for the first time and facing so many foes alone made Yenir suddenly realize he’d underestimated his own might.
That’s right—there were around thirty to forty Peak Third-Stage combatants present! In theory, one coordinated attack could reduce him to rubble! Yet, in practice, over half of these fighters were melee specialists, meaning that as long as he kept moving, they could never catch him!
And among the remaining dozen or so Peak Third-Stage warriors, only the group from the West Asia Battle Zone excelled at ranged attacks.
Perhaps with the National War in mind, every one of these selected Peak Third-Stage fighters specialized in control-oriented skills!
This inevitably meant that their overall killing potential was significantly diminished!
Faced with an uncontrollable Yenir, they seemed utterly at a loss!
They watched in panic—the Third-Stage Advanced fighters trying to escape under the onslaught of Sword Breath Torrent, and the Peak Third-Stage warriors dashing in from the side to rescue their comrades.
For some reason, Yenir couldn’t help but feel a sense of exasperation.
Damn it, if these people don’t show their true skills soon, I might actually never die!
He wasn’t holding back—in their current state, they simply couldn’t finish him off in an instant!
