Chapter Index

A progression fleet under the Xian Qin Divine Dynasty.

Fleet Supreme Commanders’ Encrypted Group Chat.

“Any leads yet?” asked King Wu’an.

“Your Majesty King Wu’an, based on the intelligence my men gathered, this team first appeared on the battlefield of Prince Zhenyuan’s fleet and dealt a heavy blow to the Lingyue Zhao Clan. After that, they successively showed up at the Silverplate-Yunpan Joint Fleet battlefield, the Goldplate-Copperplate Joint Fleet battlefield…” said King Minnan.

“Can we thus speculate this team comes from either the Tianpan Galaxy or perhaps a family within the Lingyue Galaxy?”

“Appearances can be deceiving,” King Wu’an retorted, “How can you be sure they didn’t deliberately start with the Tianpan-Lingyue Joint Fleet battlefield?”

“Forget it. I was just interested in the repeated use of eighth-tier methods by that team. If we can’t find their exact identity, let’s not waste more time on this.”

    ……

Exchanges like this had become frequent in the encrypted chats of other progression fleets in recent years, but the results were always the same—nothing ever came of it.

Yan Serpent Galaxy. Song and Luo Families’ Joint Fleet.

Encrypted comms group for the Song Family’s Calm-Sea Dragon-Xiang.

“Feels great. I just did the math—over the past 120 years, the Violet Moon Longsong added two gold components, five silver components, three hundred strands of Seventh‑Tier Floating-land Origin, and sixty thousand Titanite Crystals. In just a century, the Longsong’s stepped into the ranks of true veteran Dreadnoughts—better than most of its kind.”

As soon as Song Xingru finished, a flurry of replies poured into the chat.

Among them was Song Shixing, who’d taken over this role decades ago after the Unmoving Vajra’s cloned battleship sank unexpectedly.

“Yeah, my haul’s not too far off. The Calm-Sea Rising Dragon has also made it to veteran Dreadnought status.”

As everyone chatted, it was easy to see the joy on their faces. The Song Family truly reaped huge rewards in this round of operations.

Still, if you looked closer, you’d notice hints of fatigue beneath that joy.

Over a hundred years, traversing the routes of several Torch Fleets—one could only imagine how ‘eventful’ things were for Song Chi and the other four during this stretch.

Long stretches spent juggling two fronts, sometimes plunged into battle on both sides at once, kept everyone on constant alert. Their nerves barely got a break.

Even though they were all sixth or seventh-tier lifeforms of the Sea of Stars, and could usually split their focus a hundred ways, this was still a heavy burden to bear.

Not too long ago, they’d barely survived a close call on a certain seventh-tier life Floating-Land in the Ice Serpent Galaxy.

How their team became a target wasn’t clear, but on that newly Seventh‑Tier Floating-land, an eighth-tier Serpent Demon Dominator lay in wait. With the land’s own power boosting it, even with all five warships giving it their all and help from a Market Projection, they still failed to inflict much damage. Their fleet was completely wiped out instead.

“Let’s let the modules cool down, okay? Miss Ru, this time you’ll be rotating back to Dragon-Spine Continent to relieve Shiyuan,” Song Wujian ordered.

Song Xingru didn’t object. This rotation had long been in the works: she, Song Shiyuan, and Song Shixing took turns. Song Shiyuan returned to Dragon-Spine Continent decades ago, so now it was her turn.

    ……

Dragon-Spine Continent. Dragon Spine Sacred Mountain.

Within the Song Family Ancestral Hall.

Standing beside Song Chi, who had just emerged from the Dimensional Spatial Stone, Song Xingru was greeted by Song Shiyuan’s gentle smile.

“What’s wrong? Ran into trouble?” he asked.

Song Chi shook his head and grinned. “Don’t even ask—ran into an eighth-tier Eight-Armed Serpent Demon and got wiped out!”

The smile faded from Song Shiyuan’s face. An eighth-tier Serpent Demon Dominator was no small matter.

“Eighth-tier Serpent Demon Dominator… Even if it wasn’t a deliberate ambush, we’ll have to be more careful from now on. Maybe try heading for more distant galaxies—Shensia, Chiyu, and the Sankt Empire should be on our radar too.”

After that, Song Shiyuan carefully reminded Song Xingru of a few things. No matter what, Dragon-Spine Continent was the foundation of their family—after three thousand years of cultivation here, its importance went far beyond the ordinary.

Done with his reminders, Song Shiyuan let spatial energies well around him. In the next instant, he appeared beside Song Chi.

    “Xiaochi, what’s wrong?”

Seeing Song Chi lost in thought, he prompted him again.

“Prime Ancestor, give me a moment!”

Without waiting for a reply, Song Chi’s figure vanished from the main hall.

    Azure Moon Estate. Private bedroom.

Using the Omniverse Market as a relay, Song Chi quickly appeared in his bedroom.

He wasn’t alone: a Fourth-Tier Doomstar stood there too, holding the Yaoguang Star Order No.32.

Song Chi grabbed the Star Order and immediately checked the two latest messages that had just popped up in the group chat.

“Yaoguang Star Lord: @All Members. The Xian Qin main fleet is currently assaulting the Demon Serpent Floating-Land. Right now, its Floating-Land Shield has been worn down by nearly half. If anyone wants in on this assault, you can apply in advance. All Yaoguang Star Tower members are eligible to enter the Demon Serpent Floating-Land.”

“Yaoguang Star Lord: Star Tower will organize members for the mission. The exact time is TBA, but expected within the next 300 years!”

So it’s a direct message from the Star Lord.

Reading it, Song Chi’s mind raced—not with the thrill of soon exploring a ninth-tier Floating-Land, nor with fear or hesitation, but with awe.

Two hundred years ago, he’d heard the imperial fleet started attacking the Demon Serpent Floating-Land in the eastern core of the Eight-Armed Serpent Demon galaxy cluster, but nothing since. He’d thought the news was blocked; he hadn’t realized it’d taken more than two centuries just to erode half the ninth-tier land’s shield.

It was impossible to avoid wondering just how incredible the Floating-Land Shield of a ninth-tier Floating-Land truly was.

It was plain from the two messages that, even with another three hundred years, the shield likely couldn’t be broken head-on. They’d need elite fleets entering through cracks, weakening it from the inside.

Realizing this, belated joy bloomed on Song Chi’s face. No matter the danger, the tier of the Demon Serpent Floating-Land spoke for itself.

A ninth-tier life Floating-Land—core of a massive eastern galaxy cluster—the concentration of high-tier, top resources here would surely surpass his imagination. If he could gain a few advantages, the Heavenly Ruin’s next evolution would reap enormous benefits.

The Heavenly Ruin might seem to have recently ascended to Dreadnought-class, but by now over four centuries had passed since the start of this galactic war—meaning the ship’s been a Dreadnought for at least that long.

With the Omniverse Market feeding in resources, and the Joint Fleet breaking through multiple galaxies, the Heavenly Ruin had built up solid foundations through the years.

Especially in the last century, the Song Family had raked in massive gains by pillaging multiple seventh-tier Floating-Lands. Their amassed strength skyrocketed—Song Chi was certainly no exception.

To put it bluntly, the Heavenly Ruin was now at the threshold of being a peak Dreadnought. With most of the resources for advancement already in hand, if the timing was right, and he could snag more from this operation, he could trigger the warship’s evolution quest soon.

As his mind wandered with excitement, more replies popped up in the group chat.

Zhuoyang: “Me me me! A ninth-tier Demon Serpent Floating-Land—heard there’s tons of good stuff there!”

Qinghu: “Count me in too! Zhuoyang, want to team up?”

Yulong: “Here’s a resources list.jpg. These are the high-grade resources I know of from the Demon Serpent Floating-Land. If you’re going, be careful!”

With only a vague idea of what was on the land, Song Chi hurriedly memorized every item from the screenshot.

    Name: Demon Serpent Nine-Shed Fruit

    Type: Legendary Spirit Fruit

Effects: Assists lifeforms in Life Ascension. Extremely effective on sixth, seventh, and eighth-tier Starsea beings. Can also boost Torch Captains in their training and breakthrough with the Guiding Technique.

Notes: The Floating-Land Spirit Root, Demon Serpent Nine-Shed Wood, needs 50,000 years to flower, 50,000 to fruit, and another 50,000 to mature—a full 150,000-year cycle for each top-tier fruit.

    ……

    Name: Sky Serpent Blood Crystal

    Type: Blood-type Spirit Material

Effects: An extra resource for Torch Battleship evolution. The basic version can raise a Dreadnought’s chance to evolve into a Star-Annihilator-class by 4%, mid-tier by 8%, top-tier by 16%.

This work was organized and uploaded by 69 Book Bar~~

Notes: A special material formed from vast quantities of high and mid-tier Eight-Armed Serpent Demon blood. Very limited uses.

    ……

    Name: Golden-Scaled Serpent Fish

    Type: Legendary Creature Resource

Effects: Its meat is delicious, and regular consumption can promote Torch Seed evolution—the silver seed can rise up to gold.

Notes: Cultivated by the Eight-Armed Serpent Demon Civilization over ten thousands of years. It’s said their own kind eating it can vastly enhance bloodline potential.

    ……

    Name: Abyssal Nine-Headed Hydra

    Type: Legendary Creature Resource

Effects: Born from mounts of the Eight-Armed Demon God of the Bottomless Abyss, this lineage holds incredible potential. If its soul is integrated into a Torch Battleship, every decade the ship gains a new spectral Hydra shield—much like True Spirit Guard.

Notes: The Eight-Armed Demon God is a mythic being beyond comprehension, and even its mounts possess the pinnacle bloodline of the Sea of Stars.

    ……

    Name: Earthvein Dragonflame

    Type: Earth Spirit Material

Effects: Fusing this with any fire-domain component massively improves that component’s field ability.

Notes: The Demon Serpent Floating-Land’s ley lines birth many fire-type spirit materials, all highly prized.

    ……

    Name: Void Spirit

    Type: Earth Spirit Material

Effects: Fusing with spatial-domain modules greatly enhances their capabilities.

Notes: The Floating-Land’s vast ley lines are riddled with high-grade Void Stone veins, spawning impressive space-element spirit materials.

    ……

Name: Eternal Stone Brick mine core

    Type: Earth Spirit Material

Effects: Continuously produces Eternal Stone Bricks and replenishes the mine’s reserves.

    ……

Every resource on this list was drool-worthy, and it only bolstered Song Chi’s resolve to visit the Demon Serpent Floating-Land himself.

Of course, applying was a must. The place would be incredibly dangerous—everyone knew that. Still, there was no rule saying you had to go in as your main warship.

With the Mirror Image Split module available, Song Chi would surely use it to the fullest, grabbing all the top resources he could without putting himself in major danger.

He even considered whether it’d be possible to send in more Song Family warship clones. As high-tier as the Demon Serpent Floating-Land was, it still paled compared to the Omniverse Market. If he himself could venture in and set up a Spatial Anchor, he’d likely be free to come and go after that.

Thinking it over, there was plenty of room to maneuver.

No further deliberation needed—just like many Star Tower members, Song Chi put in his application.

    ……

    Yan Serpent Galaxy.

Back on Calm-Sea Dragon-Xiang’s encrypted chat, Song Chi briefed everyone about the Demon Serpent Floating-Land after returning with the Prime Ancestor.

This business was no small matter—they had to inform the family higher-ups as soon as possible, at least so no one was caught off guard.

“The Demon Serpent Floating-Land, huh? You can bet all the top captains in the dynasty will gather there,” Song Shixing remarked.

He added, “What I mean is, with our current strength, there’s a good chance we can’t compete with them. Their starting point is just too high.”

Xingzu was right, but everyone else in the chat seemed totally unified.

“That might be, but it’s worth trying. Worst case, we lose a clone battleship. But if we’re lucky and snatch something good, it might just be the key for us to become Star-Annihilator-class Captains!”

The Song Family’s growth in recent years had been rapid. Now that they planned to conquer the Chipan Galaxy, their foundation for aiming at an immortal Noble House was stronger than ever. Every core member couldn’t help but dream of ascending to the Star-Annihilator-class.

Don’t forget, they now held three sixth-tier Timeworld Trees; the Star-Annihilator-class threshold, so daunting to other Torch Captains, was already a weakened version for them.

Even Song Xuancang and Song Xuanfeng, who were only Battleship Captains, never once saw becoming a Dreadnought Captain as their ultimate goal. In these times, making that leap was just expected.

“Here’s the plan: we stick to our sweep-up strategy for the next 200 years, then halt and hold position waiting for news of the Demon Serpent Floating-Land.”
