Book Chapter 674: Yeah, Brother! (Update 2)

    “Too careless—I forgot the flash!”

Feeling the elevator plummet, Xiao Yu’s expression turned grim. Lin

Had his full cognitive capacity been on, such a basic error wouldn’t have occurred.

But as an ordinary person, who wouldn’t make a mistake?

The elevator hurtled downward, and fear spread across everyone’s face.

    However…

Xiao Yu inhaled deeply. Stay calm.

    Will the elevator really fall?

    No!

    In this day and age,

every elevator—commercial or residential—comes equipped with a speed limiter.

The limiter’s steel cable and counterweight lock together.

If, during operation, the elevator inverts and the counterweight ‘overspeeds’,

and if all other safety mechanisms fail,

the limiter immediately activates, clamping the cable and engaging the safety brake.

It quickly locks the car onto the guide rails.

    So…

    “Screee…”

A grating noise erupted outside as the elevator began its rapid deceleration.

Then—Bam!—it came to an abrupt halt.

    Darkness fell inside the car…

The tremendous inertia sent everyone except Xiao Yu crashing hard onto the floor.

    “My bad.”

In the pitch-black, Xiao Yu’s icy voice rang out, “But… nothing matters!”

    Activating Bear Force!

    Squeak!

His hands forcefully yanked open the elevator doors.

    People emerged into the light.

By a stroke of luck, they found themselves on the third floor.

    Miraculously, the elevator hadn’t crashed.

Even if it had, it wouldn’t have mattered.

With countless system abilities and techniques at his disposal, Xiao Yu was unkillable.

But Wang Dong and the others…

Xiao Yu stepped calmly out of the elevator.

Beneath his composed exterior, a torrent of fury burned, teetering on the verge of explosion.

He moved steadily toward the emergency passage, ascending the stairs to the fifth floor.

There, a massive metal door blocked the passage from the fifth to the sixth floor.

Activating Rhino’s Defense, Bear Force… and Flea Bullet!

    Boom!

Xiao Yu’s shoulder slammed into the metal door.

    Rumble!

The door and the adjacent walls shattered under his violent impact.

Through swirling dust, Xiao Yu strode inside.

Stepping on the metal door, he clearly sensed someone lurking below.

After that terrifying collision, anyone under the door would either be flattened or worse.

Xiao Yu’s gaze caught a security guard awkwardly clutching a baton, standing aside.

If he were below the fifth floor,

perhaps he could be deemed innocent.

But appearing on the sixth floor, could anyone still call him innocent?

The instant the guard swung his baton at Xiao Yu,

    his fate was sealed!

    Thud!

A vicious kick slammed against the guard’s side.

    Crunch!

The guard’s head twisted grotesquely, drooping against his chest.

The baton-wielding body collapsed onto the floor…

Without sparing a glance at the corpse, Xiao Yu retracted his leg and strode toward the sixth-floor emergency exit.

Upon entering, he found himself in a spacious stairwell.

Xiao Yu calmly observed four young men wielding cleavers who were charging in.

They came at him like desperate fugitives.

With fierce expressions, they swung their cleavers at him without hesitation.

Xiao Yu watched their movements, calculating the force behind each swing.

They weren’t just injuring—they intended to kill!

Who would dare to kill so unhesitatingly?

A sly smile crept up as Xiao Yu sidestepped the cleaver’s arc.

In that split second of shock, he kicked the attacker’s knee.

    Crunch!

The young man instantly shrank, his scream stifled before it could escape.

    Smack!

Xiao Yu gripped the man’s neck with one hand, while the other seized his cleaver. With one swift motion,

    Crunch!

sparks flew as the cleavers clashed.

The weapons struck each other fiercely.

Yet Xiao Yu’s hand remained steady.

The cleaver in the youth’s hand was flung away by the impact.

In a swift, silent motion, Xiao Yu swung his arm again.

    Thump!

A flash of blade sliced through the youth’s neck.

    So fast—it was almost unbelievable.

The young man froze, his expression becoming vacant.

Realizing he had lost control of his body, he tried to lean forward for a better look.

    But then…

His head detached from his neck and crashed onto the floor.

As the headless body burst with blood,

Xiao Yu walked past, facing the remaining two terrified youths.

“Kneel,” he commanded in a cool tone.

    The two shivered violently.

Instead of obeying, they spun around to flee.

One of them had barely turned around when

    Thump!

a curved cleaver tip pierced straight through his chest, spattering crimson blood.

In the next moment, the blade vanished as the young man collapsed.

Fixing his gaze on the other fleeing youth, Xiao Yu flicked his cleaver with precision.

    Thwack!

The weapon plunged into the youth’s neck.

Crunch… a horrifying surge of force pinned the youth against the wall!

“I’m trying to speak to you as a human,” Xiao Yu remarked.

Murmuring under his breath, he added, “Why are you so eager to act like a mutt?”

At that moment, Wang Dong and the others had just arrived at the safety exit.

They surveyed the stairwell—a scene straight out of a slaughterhouse—

and everyone’s jaw twitched in shock.

    Luckily, they’d seen worse before.

Even so, the faint-hearted would have been utterly terrified!

“You’re not our babysitter. Even if we die, it’s none of your business.”

Wang Dong slapped Xiao Yu’s shoulder heavily. “In our line of work, life and death are fated!”

He knew exactly why Little Brother was both angry and regretful:

just moments ago, he and his men nearly lost their lives.

Of course, Wang Dong never believed Xiao Yu would die.

Even if the elevator had plummeted, he was convinced Xiao Yu would survive.

    “I know.”

Xiao Yu grinned, “But we’re brothers!”

Wang Dong stared blankly at his Little Brother.

His eyes twitched, as if something unsaid stirred within.

Without another word, Wang Dong slapped Xiao Yu’s shoulder again, firmly.

    “Damn!”

Xiao Yu retorted, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you? Slapping me so hard, trying to get in revenge?”

“Screw it!” Wang Dong shot Xiao Yu a flashing middle finger.

The two exchanged smiles and headed toward the seventh floor.

    Yeah—that’s brotherhood for you!
