Chapter 697: Unleashed Fury
by xennovelPeak Third-Stage!?
Feeling an explosive surge of Spirit Energy that rivaled even Third-Stage, Yenir suddenly erupted with power far beyond his own. Huang Bayun’s pupils dilated in shock as anger and terror roiled inside him!
“Who are you?!”
Damn it!
As a Peak Third-Stage fighter, Huang Bayun’s instinct was to back off, pushing his Spirit Energy to the limit.
But it was all too late. He never expected that while he worried about Yenir fleeing, Yenir was far more concerned about his own escape!
In sudden combat, especially at point-blank range, a Mental Awakener’s techniques are virtually unbeatable at the same level! Not to mention that Yenir’s own combat prowess is off the charts.
In less than a second, Huang Bayun couldn’t even activate his first skill before a surge of crimson Mental Storm slammed into him, forcing a horrific scream from his lips!
Blood gushed from his mouth and nose as a massive Mental Shock instantly stripped him of his fighting ability.
Dizzy and disoriented — unlike when Yenir fights other Third-Stage opponents and has to worry about accidentally shattering their consciousness.
Facing a Peak Third-Stage foe, Yenir unleashed all his mental power, determined to end the battle swiftly!
It was like thunder striking directly at his ears, his eyes nearly exploding in the midst of a Mind Storm.
A cry of unyielding agony tore from him. Even as Huang Bayun struggled desperately, his mind could no longer focus, leaving him to watch helplessly as Yenir vanished in an instant—only to be replaced by an excruciating pain in his chest!
A sword thrust through the chest! A kick that shattered his frame!
Within a single second, Yenir had effortlessly ended the fight, reducing a Peak Third-Stage combatant to a cripple.
After casually setting up a Spirit Barrier to check that no one else was lurking behind, Yenir sneered coldly. Grabbing the mangled remains of Huang Bayun, he plummeted at high speed, intent on transforming him into an Otherworldly Ghost.
Damn it, he’d been itching to make his move on the Rebels for so long!
Glancing at the nearly unconscious Huang Bayun, Yenir exhaled in relief, feeling that he was one step closer to finding Mother.
It was almost too good to be true; not only did this guy help him get out of trouble, but he practically delivered himself right to his door!
………….
Ten minutes later.
Deep within the ruins, Yenir staggered to his feet, a pale smile breaking across his face.
It wasn’t easy—Huang Bayun’s mental fortitude was stronger than any Peak Third-Stage opponent he’d faced before. Perhaps the Rebels had some special enhancement method; either way, converting this guy had drained a significant amount of his mental power.
But it was all worth it. Beyond Huang Bayun’s identity, his combat capability was impressive in its own right.
Through interrogations, Yenir was surprised to learn that Huang Bayun’s strength ranked among the top ten within the Rebels.
A master of assassination and swift strikes, he was considered one of the most fearsome Third-Stage operatives within the Rebels.
Had it not been for his arrogance and growing greed, Yenir doubts he could have captured him alive.
“Where is Mother?”
“Do you recognize Yuanlong? Or have you ever seen a Silver-Haired Youth of extremely high status?”
The same question from a different angle.
This wasn’t Yenir’s first time converting an Otherworldly Ghost. Over time he had perfected his interrogation routine.
Sure enough, as Yenir waited tensely, Huang Bayun’s eyes glazed over and he began to answer mechanically:
“Mother? What’s that? I don’t know.”
“Yuanlong… he’s dead… a big shot from many years ago.”
“Silver-Haired Youth… I’ve seen him… you mean that guy? We all call him the Representative.”
“Representative?”
Yenir was momentarily taken aback. Clearly, Huang Bayun knew far more than the Rebel information Yenir had previously gathered, but his answers were not what he had expected.
Yuanlong was considered dead by the Rebels—something Yenir had anticipated. After all, Mother had pretended to be dead from the beginning. It was understandable that the younger Huang Bayun would be unaware of the old secrets.
But what did he mean by ‘Representative’?
“Representative means Representative. There are three of them in total—they are the true controllers here.”
“The Silver-Haired Youth you mentioned, the one with the highest status, can only be Representative No. 3.”
“He’s in charge of operations at Base 1 and is also my direct superior.”
As Huang Bayun’s information steadily poured in, a chill ran down Yenir’s spine.
It wasn’t that the information was flawed, but according to Huang Bayun, the Representatives were the highest-ranking entities within the Rebels—yet there were three of them. The title ‘Representative’ clearly didn’t denote the ultimate boss; it was more akin to a proxy, a subordinate of Mother.
Especially the Silver-Haired Youth, whom Yenir had long suspected—yet he was merely one of the Representatives?
Does this mean… he had been targeting the wrong person all along?
Is Mother’s true identity far more deeply hidden than he had imagined?
Taking a deep breath, Yenir pressed on with his questions:
“Where are all the Representatives? Base 1? What’s the purpose behind this massive test involving so many Awakeners, and what am I really a part of? What is Sea God? And what about the Divinization Potion?”
“What is with the Callers locked away on the 19th Level, and why did you kill a million survivors before?!”
The questions just kept coming, each one critically important.
Faced with Yenir’s barrage of questions, Huang Bayun’s responses faltered like a frozen machine, and after a long pause he answered in a mechanical tone:
“Not all Representatives are at Base 1. At least recently, I know Representative No. 2 has left.”
“The tests are part of a plan. These Awakeners are meant to complete the Sea Beast and create a new combat formation. And you… you…”
For a moment, it was as if Huang Bayun’s mind froze—he seemed to see Yenir as having two possible identities.
Luckily, Yenir quickly realized his own contradictory question and hurriedly rephrased:
“Do you have a plan to create another Yenir? One that mimics my upbringing, essentially cloning me? And what about Lin Ming from the Fire Wolf Team—was he your experimental organism, or part of a different plan?”
Even as he spoke, Yenir couldn’t shake the eerie strangeness of his own words.
Fortunately, Huang Bayun seemed to grasp his meaning. After a long, awkward pause, he slowly replied:
“Yes, we do.”
“About half a year ago, some high-ranking officers took notice of a spark sequence called Yenir. Initially, we didn’t pay much heed—we only suspected that his Awakener-level display of mental power might be the key to breaking the Fourth Stage.”
“So in the following period, we pressured people in the Capital like Lu Tianming to capture him alive, or at least secure his corpse.”
“Later, Sea God’s Laboratory at Base 1 proposed a simulation plan, so we ramped up our efforts to seize Yenir’s body, even coordinating with other national elites to secure a National War agreement.”
“Under the agreement, we traded Huaguo’s defeat for Yenir’s corpse. But when the plan failed, the high-ranking officers incited Lu Haishan and others to mobilize forces, storm the Capital, and ignite an armed uprising…”
“And Lin Ming’s test plan was part of the Sea God project – fundamentally different from the simulation of Yenir.”
“In the internal files, it was labeled the Human Completion Project.”
