Chapter 99: Dormitory Whispers
by xennovelJiang Jingshi sat in the driver’s seat, slipped off her high heels to reveal her feet in silk stockings, and swapped them for flat shoes to make driving easier.
She turned to Lin Zheng Ran, who had already gotten out, and waved. “Lin Zheng Ran, little brother, that instant noodles meal was a blast! Catch you later if the chance comes up!”
Lin Zheng Ran politely said goodbye.
The Rolls Royce glided away, but through the rearview mirror, she kept an eye on Lin Zheng Ran’s figure.
Jiang Jingshi mused to herself inwardly:
“This guy’s really something special. Chatting with him gave me this odd sense that he’ll end up in a super high position someday—maybe even above me and Qian Qian. It sounds far-fetched, but… building a good rapport with this kid can’t hurt.”
Jiang Jingshi gazed ahead: “No wonder Qian Qian lost to him. Even if he’s not as powerful as I imagine, he’s no ordinary guy.”

In the girls’ dormitory single shower room, water cascaded down, misting around Xiao Heqing’s smooth, jade-like body.
She extended her soft, pale hand to squeeze out some body wash.
With a bath puff, she worked it into foam and spread it over her arms and neck.
Tilting her head back, she savored the hot water rinsing away a week’s fatigue.
She murmured involuntarily, “So comfortable~”
After washing, she wrapped her damp long hair in a towel, slipped into pajamas, and stepped out.
Back in the dorm room.
Spotting Han Wenwen blow-drying her hair, Xiao Heqing settled comfortably on the bed and sighed, “So comfortable! I thought this high school didn’t have private showers, so I had to go out for the first few weeks.”
“I just found out too. I’m done with mine—want to go next?”
“Yeah, but I’ll wait a bit.”
Han Wenwen eyed Xiao Heqing’s freshly bathed, rosy skin, set down the hair dryer, sat beside her, and leaned in to sniff. “Xiao Qingqing smells so nice~”
Xiao Heqing blushed and pushed her away. “Wenwen! Stop messing around. It’s just the body wash scent.”
Han Wenwen grabbed a comb, sat next to her, and smoothed her hair. “The body wash is part of it, but girls have a natural scent, Xiao Qingqing—don’t you know?”
Xiao Heqing paused. “Natural scent? I’ve heard of it, but does it really exist?”
Han Wenwen smiled knowingly, covered her mouth, and whispered in Xiao Heqing’s ear, “They say girls who haven’t been with a boy have a special scent, and only your true soulmate can smell it.”
Xiao Heqing’s face turned bright red. “You’ve read too many novels, Wenwen. I don’t buy it—it’s too out there.”
Han Wenwen kept combing and stuck to her point. “Why not believe it? If you’re skeptical, next time ask Lin Zheng Ran and see if he notices your special scent.”
Just the thought made Xiao Heqing shy; she ducked her head and burrowed under the blanket. “I wouldn’t ask him that— it sounds way too intimate.”
Han Wenwen burst out laughing. “Xiao Qingqing is just adorable.”
But Han Wenwen’s smile suddenly froze, as if she’d seen something.
Xiao Heqing noticed her staring. “Wenwen? Why’d you go quiet? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Han Wenwen blinked her fox-like eyes, fixing on Heqing curled up on the bed.
Her full figure strained against the pajamas.
Making certain curves especially eye-catching.
“Xiao Qingqing, how did I miss this before? You’ve really filled out since high school.”
“Huh? What do you mean, filled out?” Heqing glanced down following her gaze, her face flushing red as she yanked the blanket up to cover herself.
“Wenwen! What are you talking about!”
Han Wenwen glanced at her own flatter chest, disappointed. “Why don’t I have much?”
She shifted to check her hips. “Seems like only here grew. I figured both front and back would be great.”
Xiao Heqing wondered why they always ended up on this topic when alone, though she enjoyed it, they did it too often.
“Wenwen, let’s drop that. I have something important to talk about.”
Han Wenwen looked at Xiao Heqing, already guessing, smiled, and headed to the balcony to fold the clean clothes.
As expected:
“I know what’s on your mind, Xiao Qingqing. You’re wondering about next week when you and Lin Zheng Ran head back to the small town for the competition. He said if you win, he’d grant a wish, and after we talked it over, your wish is to hold hands, right?”
Xiao Heqing clutched the blanket and nodded, her voice soft and hesitant. “Yeah, that’s it. Wenwen, if I win and ask to hold his hand, do you think he’ll agree?”
While sorting socks, Han Wenwen suddenly recalled the other day strolling the snack street with Lin Zheng Ran.
She turned, curious. “Why wouldn’t he? You’re pretty much his girlfriend now, Xiao Qingqing. Holding hands is easy—he even carried you before.”
Xiao Heqing bit her lip, her shy face showing a hint of doubt:
“Well, yes, we’ve done loads since we were kids, but nothing as a couple. If we hold hands, I think that would make our relationship official…”
Han Wenwen watched Xiao Heqing’s bashful expression, picturing their hands linked, and felt a stab of jealousy.
But it faded fast.
She sat back beside Heqing, cheering her on. “Go for it! You got this. Just bring it up when the time’s right.”
Xiao Heqing smiled, no longer unsure. “Okay.”
Han Wenwen stroked Xiao Heqing’s head, though her own jealousy deepened inside.
That night, under the cover of darkness, Han Wenwen called Lin Zheng Ran and secretly set up a meeting in a corner by the boys’ dormitory.
Lin Zheng Ran asked curiously, “Why are you suddenly coming to see me again?”
Han Wenwen didn’t explain; she just crouched in the corner, looking at him with a jealous glint. “I missed you and wanted Brother Zheng Ran to comfort me.”
Lin Zheng Ran sat next to her and reached out. “How many times have you sneaked over lately?”
Han Wenwen grasped his hand, fingers intertwining happily, and rested her head on his shoulder while hugging his arm.
“I don’t know, plenty. Foxes are just clingy like that—you have to spoil me more, Brother Zheng Ran.”
Lin Zheng Ran stroked her head, and Han Wenwen closed her eyes with a smile.
But after a moment, he stopped.
Han Wenwen pouted. “Hey, why stop? Keep going.”
“So, what’s the real reason you came?”
“Nothing—I just wanted you to stroke my head.”
Lin Zheng Ran sighed, and Han Wenwen closed her eyes again, her imaginary fox ears twitching. “I just wanted to remind you not to forget about next month.”
“Yeah, you’ve mentioned it loads of times.”
